Stef, one of the things I really appreciate about you is how genuine you are. Congratulations on all your finds for the last year and for those you have not found yet. Be well Stef.
@@StefDigs I still think that your reaction to finding the GW button was one of the best. A real pearl clutching moment, ready for the fainting couch and smelling salts. Lol, Say hello to Nic for me.
oh wow! I was so choked up when you flashed the pic of the patriot wearing the Novo around his neck. To think of what all our early ancestor/settlers endured to free this country from British tyranny! this story is worth so much more than its weight in gold. My eyes were welling up with such emotion...very humbling. Excellent vid Stef. This is what it's all about... we remember and honor their sacrifices.
Thank you so much! The Nova Constellatio full length video is one of the pieces I am the proudest of - and it’s nice when someone appreciates that part, especially, because it took a long time to edit but I knew I had to do it justice. The true patriotic treasure is always a huge honor to find!
I don't know how I managed to forget all these amazing finds so I'm so glad you put this video together - thank you! I was positive I was going to say the rattlesnake button was my favorite but then you had to include the Nova Constellatio - absolutely stunning!!!
Thank you! The Nova took the number one spot for 2 reasons, even though the rattlesnake button was the rarest sought-after find: 1) the condition is stunning, and 2) it landed on the cover of American Digger magazine, an honor I may never have again. Was very tough to choose the top 11 but I always enjoy putting this together each year!
I lived on a 1771 house in the Hudson Valley NY and dug up amazing stuff to 1600s. Mostly relics which I treasure. I'm sad I had an ace 250. Didn't go deep. I'm going back to 2010. You're channel inspired me to get a new detector and I live in revolution land. . Thank you for this channel sincerely ! 🇺🇸
Wowwww Steph frigging mind blowing top ten! Your finds.... Your excitement.... The history you share..with your finds.. .. All awesome! U awesome! Congrats gurl! ❤❤❤
Thank you! Actually, it depends on the age. Victorian to Edwardian cufflinks and later follow that size differential, but colonial cufflinks were the same size for both halves. Dying to find a complete set!
Thank you! I love taking a closer look at the historical significance that might otherwise be lost if I didn’t highlight it on special finds. 😊 The cufflink was absolutely a favorite find that I had been hoping for!
Thank you! To be honest, if I had to choose only one find I could keep from the last year, it may have been that. I handle it the most often of all of my coins, and it’s in AU condition. The Nova was more “expected” than a Seated Half! Tried to put the finds in order of rarity and historical importance, though.
That is quite a compliment, thank you! 😊 I wish that as a kid, I’d handled more artifacts - it would’ve been so cool if an archaeologist or detectorist came into the classroom and I’m sure it would’ve ignited my passion for history a lot sooner!
A Great Look Back Here, Steff!! You had me nearly crying "happy tears" with you, at some points! On the other hand, you had me TOTALLY LMBO, at your "small fiddle" gesture!! 😆😆😆 I must've heard that old saying, hundreds of times, in my life, but you made it look and sound EXTRA HILLARIOUS, here!! LOL!!! 😅😅😅 I've gotta tell ya, that watching this video of yours; has gotten me to feeling that if I can't SOON afford to get me a Metal Detector, & get out, and do some hunting with it, I am going to GO TOTALLY BONKERS!!! LOL!!! If nothing else, then just maybe; after I finally have my knee replacement surgery @ the end of this month, I'll be able to do at least, SOME KIND OF WORK, & begin earning myself a living, once again!! Take Care! & I'll be anxiously awaiting your next episode!! Ron Abilene, TX.
@@StefDigsThanks, Steff!! I certainly hope that my surgery will go well, & that I will indeed, heal FAST, once it is done!! My Dr's. P.A. says that max. healing time, is usually about 3 months, but that she's seen some folks get back to normal, in just a little over a month!! Let's hope for the minimum, or somewhere in between, at the most!! 🙂 Ron
Happy Independence Day, Stef. Your top 10+1 Bucket Listers were amazing! I remember those hunts when you found them, and I was just as excited as you were! I can only hope the second half will be just as good, but hard to top! Maybe you'll find the 20 dollar gold coin or a treasure chest filled with all kinds of goodies. The possibilities are endless, and I wish you great success on your upcoming adventures. Til next time, take care and dig, dig, dig...
Your reaction to the seated half was kind of similar to me when I found my capped half lol. You were fairly calm when you found the capped half dime. Guess that's why we detect, you never know what the next signal could be. It's nothing great 99% of the time but when it is it's a rush.
@@stephencurry599 got that right! 😂 For some reason, a Seated half dollar didn’t cross my mind - it was a total surprise! I could see the Capped was a half dime-sized coin, so I already knew I was in for something special. 😊
I feel like I should setup a tiny little StefDigs shrine and make offerings to it as you are clearly some sort of treasure goddess. On second thought that sounds creepy as hell but anyway the sentiment is true. Lol
Hahahahaha, well the sentiment is appreciated! 😂🤣 I’ve got a shrine too, but it’s all around my house in no particular organization of finds from over the years, lol!
Silver is very malleable and easy to restore. I use wooden dowl rods to reform silver objects such as thimbles. But, if you are wary, take it to a jeweler to restore. Though it does like fine as is.
I cleaned it up already. It’s actually not very easy to restore when there’s 200+ year-old iron stuck to it, lol. I had to do several rounds of boiling vinegar and baking soda, then I used toothpicks. Took many hours.
I’d thought of that at first, but the letters and bust all face the correct direction and are raised, versus having a coin impression like a poker chip. I don’t think we’ll ever know for certain what someone was doing with that piece.

The seated half dollar. What a beautiful coin. You can still see Liberty on the shield.

My theory might be a far stretch: perhaps a Huguenot brought this over to CT. So many escaped France and what is now southern Belgium.
Could be! A friend explained the probable migration of the coin to me at one point - I’ll have to dig and see if I can find what he told me!
@@StefDigs I wonder what would come up if you Googled the town's history for Huguenots - or the French or Belgian settlers, in general.
The lead large cent could also be a poker chip, I've found them with reverse words where a large cent was stamped into them in civil war camps
