- Jay McInerney gives an exclusive introduction to the newly illustrated edition of Breakfast at Tiffany's from The Folio Society.
In his introduction, novelist and critic Jay McInerney points out the similarities between this book and another that Capote admired: The Great Gatsby. Holly shares Gatsby’s combination of mystery, glamour and vulnerability. Yet Capote has a humour and lightness of touch all of his own.
The Folio Society produces beautifully crafted collector’s editions of the world’s greatest books, each with unique illustrations or specially researched photographs throughout. Find the books you love at foliosociety.com.

Great insights. It’s a mini-tragedy on loss and lack of connectedness. The novella is brilliant and the movie was a hackneyed version. I would love to see a remake of it true to Capote.
Wonderful video.
Vidal said Holly Golightly was a lift from Isherwood's Sally Bowles (Goodbye To Berlin) but stolen or borrowed, Holly became the stuff of which bad daydreams are made. Everyone wants to be someone else, if only for the length of the movie's trailer.
one name: Mickey Rooney.....
Frankly, I don't see that as being very helpful.
