  • In this video I review four different cube safes. Each of this looks like a normal Rubik's cube, and some of them function like one, but all of them have a secret way to open them up, allowing you to store something small and precious inside. The four cubes I've looked at are:
    The Rubik's 5x5 safe. Available for $25 from Walmart, for example: www.walmart.co...
    Meffert's Oskar's Treasure Chest Cube by Oskar van Deventer. Available from Amazon for around $35: www.amazon.com...
    Konstantin's Holztresor (wooden safe) puzzle box. Available from JP Games (in the UK) for £40: jpgamesltd.co....
    The Yuxin Treasure Box. Available from SpeedCubeShop for $13: speedcubeshop....
    All of those cubes are available from a variety of other stores online, and you might be able to find them cheaper.

    Nice! Now all you have to do is to mix the color labels so the right combination to open the safe is not obvious, so you get a real combination lock.

    I have the stickerless version of the yuxin, which is a little bit too big to be believable as just a cube, at least if you showed it to a cuber. I think it's the best of the lot here though. A couple of corrections - you only have to solve the top layer to unlock it. A lot of people have complained about the mechanism. You don't have to twist it really hard - get it snug, and then pull the white layer as if you were testing the tensioning. Everything pops in to place :)

      Ah -- good point. As you say, it only matters that the top layer is solved, not the whole cube. Obvious now you say it, but it didn't occur to me as I was making the video! Thanks for watching! :-)

      Do you actually need to SOLVE the white layer, or will it suffice to have alle the white tiles on the same face in any permutation? Looks like you don't have different teeth in each piece as in Meffert's

      @@johnmiller6743 what do you mean have the white tiles on the same face in any permatution? You mean something like having all of the white pieces but the center piece is yellow or something?

    • @LockPickingCuber
      @LockPickingCuber  Рік тому +1

      He means having all the white pieces oriented correctly, so write is facing upwards, but not permitted correctly, so that if you look at the sides of the white pieces you'll see mixed up colours.

      @@LockPickingCuber oh alr, then yeah. I just tested it, the other colors on the side of the white side don't have to be correct, any permutation will work as long as that side just looks white.

    I don't know why people want the cube to be normal size. I'd like it to be bigger so I can store more stuff inside!

      It's a good point! I guess people want the safe to look as much like a normal rubik's cube so it doesn't attract attention...

      True enough! On the other hand, it's more fun to solve the whole thing... :-)

    Lock picking Cuber? 🎉 Nice! During the pandemic, I decided between cubing and lock picking for my lockdown spare time. Cubing won, locks are safe from me for now, while I'm averaging in the mid 20s on the cube 😂

    You're a cuber so you should know who youtuber Tingman is. See his latest short video called "How to steal money from the Rubik's safe".
    For the Yuxin Treasure Chest, he shows that you don't need to solve the entire cube, just the white face including edges.

      Don’t even need to solve the white face correctly

    I want a good cube that feels like an actual cube but I heard people popped their cube or had to break it because it got stuck. I also wanna know if you can fit dollar bills in the yuxin. Any suggestions on not how to pop it also do money fit? Thanks for the vid!

    • @jamesmoses4066
      @jamesmoses4066 Рік тому +1

      Money fits in it, and the best way to open it up is this:
      Once you solve the white side with any permutation, you going to want to turn the white layer 45 degrees in any direction (halfway between 2 sides), then press down on the white center piece. You should hear a click when you do that. After you hear the click, you're going to want to turn the white side counterclockwise, and it should just come off super easy.
      To put the lid/white side back on, just attach it and turn it very lightly clockwise until you can't turn it anymore. The key words there is "very lightly", do not try to use a bunch of force to twist it back on. Once you get to the point where you can no longer turn it when using a light amount of pressure, the white center piece should still be pressed inward, because it's not locked in place yet. If this is the case, you have followed all of the steps correctly so far. However, if you used too much force, you probably broke the cube. The next step is to pull up on the white side. You are pulling it away from the rest of the cube. We are doing the reverse of unlocking the cube, instead of pressing the white center button down, you want to pull it up. But since you can't use your fingers to pull it up, we will just pull up on the whole white side. Once you do this, you should hear a click. Now it is locked, and it functions like a normal Rubik's cube.
      If you don't follow those steps exactly, you can seriously mess up the cube. No one really explains the proper instructions for using this cube, so hopefully this comment helps.

      @@jamesmoses4066 thanks bro! I really appreciate it that you went in depth to explain. I might get one for my birthday but I was asking for christmas when I made the comment I never really got the cube safe. Instead I got a 2x2, mirror cube, and a pryamix if that’s how you spell it lol I forgot. But still I really appreciate you! Thanks
