Because that's how organized crime actually works, even in the Triad.
Depends on which Triad gang you're talking about since Chinatown wars takes place in america it is more common for gangsters of any group to use guns more but if you're talking about the Triad gangs back in China or Hong Kong using melee weapons is more common since it's harder to get guns there just look at the sleeping dogs video game as a example

Hsin was by far the best mission giver of the game. He wasn't a liar like Rudy, he wasn't a hypocrite like Wu and Zhou, and wasn't a complete moron like Chan and Lester. Even when he want Huang killed, he wasn't shy to announced it. And yet, he was still able to recognise Huang's loyalty, and in the end, he pretty much confirms that he will grant him the title of leaders of the triads once he steps down.
I was so upset that I can't finish the game just because of a stupid bug in Mission A Shadow of Doubt. I really liked this game. AND IT'S ALSO A HSIN JAOMING MISSION

this theme is one that sticks with you, even when the ds/psp/phone is turned off. as soon as it starts, you know the big boss is talking.
