Here's a strategy I follow from professional video-photographers; two folders, (1) WIP, (2) ARC, for works in progress and archive, respectively. WIP has to live in the local disk because of faster reading and availability. The ARC folder is in an external storage. Both WIP and ARC are backed up in two hard drives and one stays in my studio, the other at home. ※ in Dropbox and GoogleDrive I also have a WIP and ARC folder structure; for Dropbox is dboxWIP and dboxARC, and for GoogleDrive gooWIP and gooARC
Hi, I think my earlier comment got lost, but basically I was thanking you for another splendid video, which inspired me to stay up late into the night cleaning up (deleting) literally thousands of old files etc.! AND!! I sped up my tablet considerably by finally going through my over 80 open Chrome tabs and either saving ref info, pouring into Pocket for later reading, etc. And then deleting. Runs much faster now! ! Meanwhile, I have read there is concern about the quad-zillion pictures clogging up cyber-space what with selfies and kind of mindless picture taking; I think the problem is people nowadays take 15 of essentially the same picture and then seldom go back and edit. I used to apprentice to a photographer who explained that pros take lots of pics too, but only show their good ones. I got away from carrying my camera constantly because I realized I was not staying in the moment when always whipping it out.
I've deleted old files before then months later, had to do a panic search of an old back up - which thankfully, saved my hide. (We were forced to go back to old software and needed rego keys.) If in doubt, stash it on an external hard drive and that gives you peace for the what ifs, whilst keeping your current space free. Thanks for your great videos. 2,137 and what I do (which is a little time consuming) is transfer them to my external hard drive through the phone memory itself (not through iTunes). This allows me to make sure all my pictures get copied (I noticed some were having errors and I wouldn't notice until I deleted off my phone). So as I organize an event I would delete off my phone. I also back up to a cloud whiles it's on my phone so that I don't have to decide what to keep and what not to keep, I just delete as I transfer. Keeps me a little sane. LOL
Only a couple hundred, because I have a new phone. I found the part of the video talking about "Startup Disk Almost Full" message helpful. I'm thinking this must be a common issue for content creators. Time to move them over to an external hard drive. Thanks for the video!
So there's a lot of information about the "correct way" to clear an inbox. Most people settle on, don't folder anything (it's a waste of time since email is search able) but to archive things out of the inbox and keep the inbox clear. Only keep things in the inbox that need to have something done to them (read, email sent, ect.) I use to do folders and found myself fall out of that habit very quickly.

I feel like we don't print photos anymore because everything is digital, but now I'm stuck trying to get photos of when my cats were kittens off a 2004 laptop because I never printed them off...what to do!
Really chuffed to say that I already do all of these things. Also, I have 114 photos, but if you constantly run out of memory on your phone, being ruthless is necessary.
I have 675 photos on my phone. Every month, I transfer the ones I want to keep to an external hard drive in a monthly folder. And, also, I transfer important ones to Shutterfly. :)

to easily view emails to delete, choose sort by NAME rather than by DATE. That way if you have collected several ad mails from the same store, you can see them all together and erase them at once. I usually SELECT ALL and glance down the list and UNCHECK the ones I want--I erase more that way. Ibam going to start to separate my friends and business emails to another account. I use Unroll.me and found out those emails were still being stored in my email. I do like looking at the single unroll.me email, though.
Could you guys please do a video on a daily desk cleaning routine? Everyday my desk is loaded with things from kids homework to coupons and receipts to unfiled papers....the list goes on! Once it's cleaned, it only stays that way for a minute!!:-) Thanks!
Lucky I don't have to worry too much about my digital clutter as I keep things organized regularly. As for photos, I take them with my itouch but am not sure how many I currently have but there was a time when I went to the the max limit. I will admit I need to download my photos to the computer more often.

388 images and 3 or 4 videos I tend to put my pictures on my external hard drive and clear out my phone often. though that's more because a smartphone like a computer runs slow with a hard drive that's mostly full

I have 10,044 photos and 376 videos on my phone but only 2 are on my camera roll. I'm not concerned because they're also all on my iPad, my iMac and my backup time capsule. I copy all photos over to my computer every couple of days and sync them to all devices through iTunes. 😀

I can't unsubscribe because I don't have her passwords, but I keep getting her order receipts- she has bought a lot of garden furniture! I cant contact her because I don't know her real email. Her private stuff is flooding my inbox, how do I stop this??!
I'd be concerned someone was spamming your acct. If you're certain they're valid emails from retailers, consider contacting a couple of them. Then explain the situation in brief and ask if they'd try to contact the person and let them know. If you do the unroll site, it won't help correct the overall issue of someone using your email address. Good luck it getting the issue resolved.

Anyway, you should be able to find her physical (shipping) address on any of those documents; perhaps you could notify her via 'snailmail'. Sorry Melissa but i only have 349 photos because i clean them out every 6 months because i have an old galaxy 4S and i'm afraid it'll kick the bucket like anytime.
It might be acting funny because you probably got the baking soda on the vents and now you have less air flow to your CPU so it is overheating. The best way to clean up tbe excess baking soda is put the computer in your laundry and the H2O will wash away the extra baking soda. For extra cleaning, use the steam function in the dryer and your computer will be good as new. This is where the term "refresh your computer" comes from.
***** Contrary to popular belief, it is quite the opposite. Just make sure to use the dryer after the washer, and you will be fine. If your computer doesn't fit in you laundry though, then you can try "hard booting" it. A lot of problems can be fixed by it. Just wear a large boot and give your computer a few hard kicks and it will work like new. Cheers!

for PCs, you can get a program that will spot the duplicates for you. Duplicate File List is the name of the free program. it's Windows.

A good place to store your pictures and videos is photobucket I always store them there and then erase them from my phone so I could always have space

I'd be concerned someone was spamming your acct. If you're certain they're valid emails from retailers, consider contacting a couple of them. Then explain the situation in brief and ask if they'd try to contact the person and let them know. If you do the unroll site, it won't help correct the overall issue of someone using your email address. Good luck it getting the issue resolved.
+Sorbet Ice I"d think she'd be concerned about not receiving her purchace and/or billing receipts. Anyway, you should be able to find her physical (shipping) address on any of those documents; perhaps you could notify her via 'snailmail'. Since you seem to have erroneously received her sensitive info, she's likely to respond asap.

Melissa, I sprinkled some baking soda on my pc and monitor to help clean it and now it's been acting funny. Please halp!
It might be acting funny because you probably got the baking soda on the vents and now you have less air flow to your CPU so it is overheating.
The best way to clean up tbe excess baking soda is put the computer in your laundry and the H2O will wash away the extra baking soda. For extra cleaning, use the steam function in the dryer and your computer will be good as new. This is where the term "refresh your computer" comes from.

***** Contrary to popular belief, it is quite the opposite. Just make sure to use the dryer after the washer, and you will be fine.
If your computer doesn't fit in you laundry though, then you can try "hard booting" it. A lot of problems can be fixed by it. Just wear a large boot and give your computer a few hard kicks and it will work like new. Cheers!
