  • Today's video is all about growing the biggest GIANT golden timber bamboo possible in UK gardens - Phyllostachys vivax Aureocaulis (also available in green plus interesting forms like 'Huangwenzhu Inversa'). This is a fast-growing evergreen exotic plant with real impact, perfect for a jungle or tropical style garden here in the UK. I look at why this is such an amazing plant, how I use it in the garden, touch on how to grow your own giant bamboo (positioning, watering & fertilising) plus why root / rhizome barrier is important for controlling a plant with the potential to be invasive. It's worth all the effort though, a mature vivax is an amazing sight and bamboo shooting season is one of the highlights of the gardening year!
