Goldfaber Aqua Review and comparison to Albretch Dürer Watercolor Pencils
Вставка
- Опубліковано 23 сер 2024
- In this video I compare and review the new Faber Castell Goldfaber Aqua watercolor pencils to the Faber Castell Albrecht Durer watercolor pencils. The new GoldFaber Aqua pencils replace the older "Art Grip watercolor pencils". These pencils go on dry and can be activated with watercolor. They can also be used in a number of other ways which I have covered in the past. While these Faber Castell GoldFaber Aqua are student grade they perform extremely well. In fact they perform as well as if not better than more expensive watercolor pencils such as the Derwent Watercolor pencils. Overall these are good pencils and a great value for the money!

In this video I swatch the pencils, compare these pencils vs the Albrecht Durer. Additionally I compare these pencils to every other water-soluble colored pencil I have reviewed.

Thank you for doing this comparison video. I love how thorough you are! I don't use my Albrecht Durer's enough so this motivated me to get them out. I think Goldfaber should be the next Bond movie 😁
LOL thats an awesome idea! I am doing an updated video on how to use watercolor pencils with a few more tips.
ColoringKaria Great! I will look forward that 😁 Thanks again x
Thank you for the comparison .
I use pencils for watercolor lineart and I like when the lines don’t dissolve completely
So I’ll probably go with the Faber castelle set
Thanks so much for this excellent and detailed review. These reviews are very helpful for artists
Thank you! I try! This is the same style as all my other reviews well in the past year or so. So check them out!
Let me know if you have any questions.
Very helpful, Karia. Thanks! I have both but not used the Goldfaber Aquas yet and wondered about the differences.
No problem!
Thank you SO MUCH for saving my money. I have a Cotman set of 12 watercolor pans and want to increase my supplies, as I sold my Koh-I-Noor set of 24 to buy a Van Gogh set of 24. BUT I saw a Goldfaber Aqua set of 36 and was decided to buy, as I saw some people euloging them. But WOW, your review totally changed my mind. I'm starting to do comissions now and as you said, I need a top quality supply, thinking to go for Albrecht Durer. Thank you! And love the cat, my little furry girl Lynx send cheers from Brazil. 🇧🇷
This was a very good and detailed review. I actually got the Goldfaber on clearance at Hobby Lobby recently. Hobby Lobby also sells them and the sister matching color pencils open stock. On the open stock display, they have both the color names and the color numbers. They are reasonable open stock. They are 1.49 apiece open stock at HL. Have a little book that I swatch and write the number and color in when I buy them. I believe that you can get the actual names on the Faber Castell site as well. Thank you for such an informative review!!
Thank you! Let me know if you have any questions!
Thanks for the comparison! I couldn't find many reviews on this set of pencils for my intended use (customizing dolls) and my budget couldn't swallow the prices of the Derwent and Durer sets that everyone recommended. It seems that student-grade pencils are harder and harder to find these days.
Excellent review! You put a LOT of work into this, much appreciated. I was trying to decide whether to spend the extra on the Albrecht Durers, and good though the Goldfabers look, I think I will go for the ADs. I am a coloured pencil and watercolour artist, so it will be a one-time purchase.
Thank you so much! I love my AD’s. I have way too many sets. LOL.
the sound of your voice is so serene. thank you for this video! it was really helpfull
Glad it was helpful! thank you for your kind words!
Thank you so much for that detailed review! Really appreciate it.😊
Great comparaison Karia, i have these watercolors and the colored pencils and i love them so much i hope they will made a Bigger set of 120 for the colored pencils because they are Amazing to worked with, they have rich Pigments vibrant colors they are smooth and blend so well really it's a wonderful supplies. Thank You so much for the great review Karia xx
Thank you so much! I think they might end up with a goal of 60 or 72 at least thats hat the large size of art grip is.
Oh! i didn't know that Karia, thank you for let me know, and you are so very welcome sweetie xx
They discontinued the Art Grip Aquarelle line? That bites, I have a set of 36 in the tin that I enjoy with my coloring books. Maybe once I use those up I'll try these new fellas, though.
Yes but from people who have tried both these are a total improvement!
Hope your doing well, miss your videos. I was considering a set of watercolor pencils and came straight to the best reviewer.. the cost difference between these albrecht durer and gold faber, means I am getting the gold faber, but some day...albrecht surer for me.
This was really helpful. I appreciate the detail & thoroughness of your presentation. Thanks.
Thank you so much for your kind words.
Wish i had found this video just before buying the Goldfaber. This reminds me of the cheap water-colors I got for my 9 year old. AD are expensive, but i'll have to cough up the $$ after returning the Goldfaber.
Yeah I don’t think the goldfaber are the same at all. The AD definitely have both more pigment and better quality materials.
Good comparison, thank you for the video. 💞💫
thank you for watching! Let me know if you have any more questions!
Thank you so much for the comparison!
Excellent excellent review!
Do you have a new Microphone? You sound really Nice! And as always, what an amazing video
LOL! Yep! Paid for by the fans! I did an unboxing and everything.
Can this be used without water? I just bought them I thought they were normal pencil colors
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Thank YOU for watching! Let me know if you have any questions!
@@ColoringKaria Dear, I am just using the red line of Faber Castell. I am in diapers compared to you!!! Doing something these covid days to keep a healthy heart and soul. I really enjoy your videos.
Would you believe I had a small set of Albrecht Durers and returned them without even trying them? I am still kicking myself! I bought a set of Prismacolor watercolor pencils instead. Have you ever used them? If so, would you review them? I would like to see how they stand up to your other brands.
Woah!! Ekk!
The prismacolor watercolor pencils have been on my list for a while but I’ll move them to the top and get them ASAP!
Thank you so much for this great Video!!! 😚
Thank you for watching! Don’t forget to share and let me know if you have any questions.
The Goldfaber are sold open stock at Hobby Lobby. Perhaps the colored pencils will be easier to find - haven't been on Amazon.
Thats good to know for those who shop there.
I am soo waiting for amazon to have Goldfaber.
Very good review - thanks
No problem it’s always my pleasure!
Checked Amazon and they have the colored pencils now - I was too impatient to wait for them to show up. 48 @ $48 is the biggest size. I have 40 so a few colors seem to be missing from Hobby Lobby's open stock display.
Is there a set of GoldFaber pencils that aren't watercolors? I had some GoldFaber pencils but they didn't all say aqua on the side so now I'm wondering if the watercolors. I couldn't find any information on them at the time.
Yes there is a regular gold faber dry pencils.
@@ColoringKaria Thank you so much...these are the most confusing pencils lol
They aren’t. There is a color system and a brush mark that lets you now what you have.
Red or yellow boxes and tins are kids/school line, blue is crafter/student grade. Dark green is artist grade. A brush symbol means its water soluble no brush means its dry. :) this is just for faber castell products but it’s fairly easy to see what you are getting that way.
@@ColoringKaria oh no I meant it differently. It was really hard to find any information, and good information on them when I first got them. Now I regret selling them and not giving them a better try. But I do want to get some of the watercolors. I love using watercolor pencils.
Love it! It does make me want the Albrecht Durers though lol!!
You know I love mine!
Thank you so much for this video! Could you tell me what paper you're using that's 100% cotton mixed media and fairly smooth? I'd love something like that. Thanks so much!
Abby Fichtner all strathmore 500 series papers are 100% cotton. Search amazon or blick for Strathmore 500 mix media paper. Or for more cost and paper option do a google search for 100% cotton mix media paper. Theres a ton of options out there, but 100% cotton paper is a little more costly. My favorite quality paper for messing around with wet medias is “Bee Paper 140# 100%cotton watercolor paper bulk 6x9 50sheet pack” on amazon and runs around 17$. They also make 90# in the same options for a few dollars less. I recommend the 140#.
Which papers to use
What’s the difference between the artist and crafter’s line?
The green artist line has more and stronger pigment, higher quality wood, a larger barrel and all around better quality.
thank you . this is so much fum
Great Video thanks ...
Glad you enjoyed it

Oh! Your hands occupies around 30% of picture and you constantly move them - it's annoying till headache. It is so egocentric.
