- I’ve been getting lots of questions, so I decided to answer with a video on whether you can use a stylus with Onyx Boox Palma, as well as the experience with using physical keyboard with touchpad.
But couldn't you just adjust the e-ink refresh speed to reduce lag?
Truly helpful, straight the the point. Thanks! I own a Remarkable 2 which is the creme de la creme of writing devices. I also have the folio keyboard for it which is both an absolutely exceptional and elegant design. The Palma will serve as a complimentary E ink tablet for on the go. Keyboard is more important to be but good to know you can write on it if need be.
"this one which I use in tablets that do not support stylus" which one is that?
Hey one question. Can you use this to write on the go? I mean like making a portable small typewriter thingy. So put the phone side ways on a bluetooth keayboard that is also not too big but not too small and write on a train? You know like stories or other academic papers? It would be with an amazing batery life with the epaper I quess.
You can pair a Bluetooth keyboard to it and use it as you like, it is an Android device, so it is capable of doing a lot more than just being an e-reader.
How is this with web apps? For instance, ButterDocs? Also, if you type with the external keyboard in landscape mode does the on-screen keyboard disappear or does it just block half the screen? Thanks.
Reckon a screen protector could enable stylus use or would it affect the screen eink display from displaying normally . Also would appreciate links to the stylus that works!
wonder if the active will scratch the device. If not, it looks okay, you could always bump up the refresh rate (shown as "balanced" in this video).
I use an EMR styllus on a boox tab ultra, but it doesn't work on the palma. What are the best option among those you tested? I an thinking about using palma as a small note taking device too.
I found your review very nicely done. Exactly, which model active stylus are you using.
They are much cheaper on Temu, but similar one on Amazon
Active Stylus Pen Compatible for iOS&Android Touch Screens, Pencil with Dual Touch Function,Rechargeable Stylus for iPad/iPad Pro/Air/Mini/iPhone/Cellphone/Samsung/Tablet Drawing&Writing a.co/d/1xxnQq0
this is great, because I have wanted to get a Boox Palm and only wish that it had the capability of notetaking. I actually already own the White stylist that seem to work the best. Thank you so much for this video.
@@ScottOtt of course, glad to be of help.
The keyboard example was what I've been waiting for! I hear that it can also power a USB-C keyboard (vs going via Bluetooth). Do you know if that's accurate? My use case would be pairing it with a USB-C 60% mechanical keyboard.
I don’t have keyboards that are wired, but I plugged in my mechanical keyboard that charges via usb c and it started blinking. I also plugged in my Sony Xperia 1 V phone and it started charging from Boox Palma. I plugged in my iPhone 15 Pro Max and Palma started charging. Hopefully that helps.
@@MaxNM Thank you very much; I just ordered one after seeing another review with a Bluetooth keyboard. Though my plan is to use it wired, I suspect Bluetooth should be a good-enough fallback if that fails.
Wouldn't the delay be reduced if you use it in ultrafast mode? Have you tried that?
Yes, ultrafast is designed for fast refresh but you lose quality.
Have you tried using the handwriting function on Gboard?
No, but then again I wouldn’t recommend this device for handwriting, it does everything else absolutely amazing but the writing capabilities is not the best, meaning there is a delay and it is not as precise when compared to device made for writing.
Thank you for this. Liked!
How are you liking the palma so far? I'm debating getting one
It is my favorite Boox device and I have 5, Palma just does it all so well.
@MaxNM awesome! So good to know thank you! Is the android 11 a problem?
@@Justart_jpeg Not really, latest updates matter more for newest fully capable devices, and this is just an e-ink device. The only thing to consider is security, older the OS less of security. I doubt many will be using this device more than what it is was made for.
Thanks I really needed this keyboard example! Any chance if you know if you can turn off the onscreen keyboard if you are using a bluetooth one?
I don’t know, I like on screen keyboard
Yes, you can turn it off.
Will your arrow keyboard keys work on it for some things rather than the track pad? Maneuverability?
I believe for skipping pages too.
Can you highlight PDFs on the Palma?
Yes, sure can, either with a finger or a third party stylus.
Can anyone please confirm if this device allows screen rotation?
Yes it does.
