    Awd ceramic brakes higher torque wide body and no gas guzzler tax I think it's a better value than a rougher more of a raw race car zo6. For me perfect as I am NOT a race car want a be but I do about 20 days a year at track with someone else's cars.

    This is quite literally the epitome of an apples to oranges comparison. But that's the point. I agree with you that the e-ray is slightly overpriced, unfortunately because most people if they're going to spend that kind of money will say well why don't I just go for the Z06. However the Z06 is not for everyone. Thank you for not immediately bashing the e-ray though like most people do. This is an amazing car and I would love to get my hands on one. So many people are so quick to bash the e-ray simply because it's some "electric junk box", but I don't know about you I don't remember anybody bashing Porsche, Ferrari, or McLaren years ago when they came out with the 918, the LaFerrari, and the P1.

      Absolutely! Just like I said it’s an amazing car and it fits perfectly in the lineup I just think it’s a little bit overpriced at the end of the day.

      It’s a nonsense view.. you need to buy a Bugatti if you want to out 0-60, or out 1/4 mile, an E-Ray with gasoline. It’s AWD with a DCT.. in what world could GM sell this for under $100k?!

      I have an E-Ray, and I could have gotten ANYthing I wanted. (I came from a 23 C8 Corvette by the way.) The only people making videos like this, is Z06 people. The Z06 cost more and does LESS. The E-Ray FASTERRRRR. The Z06 may be faster around the track, and on the top end a LITTLE after the 1/4 mile. But we have YET to see them go head to head. (ACTUAL ERAY owner VS Z06 owner) People just keep making videos like this, to get a click and view. Don't get me wrong, I like the Z06..but they are everywhere. As for ERAY not selling, this is the FIRST year..there are only 636 made at this point. TONS of people want this car, but many can't get it. Dealer markups, and slower production for this first year. It's that simple. MOST people got ROBBED with their Z06 when they bought, and are now stuck with negative equity they financed. I paid MSRP for my E-Ray, no markup. I'm an actual owner, and I will be at Corvette Invasion this year. The E-Ray is NOT overpriced, and does not need to cost less. Z06 may be an icon, but the E-Ray is the future. Accept it. Carbon Ceramic Breaks? Standard. Z06? Option you have to pay for...that makes no sense when the Z06 has more HP and a higher trap speed. Does it?

    Something to note about the Z06: 0-60 in 2.6 seconds with the available Z07 Performance Package! Which cost an additional 9k, and carbon ceramic breaks cost 9k as well. With the E-Ray is just 2.5 seconds or less as is rolls off the showroom floor.

      I've hit 2.5 seconds to 60 in my Z06 NON Z07 car so the price is still a factor for me. Don't get me wrong, the E-Ray is an amazing vehicle, I just feel it is a bit overpriced. It's too close to the price of the Z06 to make it stand out like it should.

    The e-ray is the car that everyone should want but nobody does. It's a far better street car. It's a bit slower if you gun it on the highway (but both will get you to "arrested and impounded" in a couple of seconds), but from a standing/rolling start the e-ray will be way faster. You have stealth mode, so you don't wake up your entire street going to cars and coffee in the morning. And better gas mileage. The problem is that it has ZERO of the drama of the z and the drama is what everyone (including me) wants.
    If the e-ray used a heavily detuned FPC that still reved to 8000+ RPM I bet it would be in a lot more demand.

      Exactly. Sports cars are meant to drive emotions and arent a practicality decision for most people. So whatever is more exciting wins, in this segment.

      The difference is, the ERay is more of a grand tourer with more usable power in street driving and racing. . I have no interest in tracking a car , so having a car that is fun to drive daily would be more important to me. People also forget the cost of the Ceramic rotors and the gas guzzler taz, there is a $11,000 difference in the two.

      This car is boring with the same old pushrod 6.2L that is old news. The Ford 5.0L Coyote taught us that DOHC is better. The LT6 makes more power naturally-aspirated than the ERay does with its outdated pushrod motor plus batteries. The Z06 is just as quick in a straight line, handles and stops better plus has that exotic exhaust note that is to die for. Z06 hands down.

    Nice video. The eray is for me. You could offer me a z06 for the same price and I’m taking the eray for one main reason: it snows and ices where I live. There are other small reasons, but that’s the main one. Eray isn’t overpriced, there’s a lot of new tech, and it has performance areas where it’s superior. I currently have a ‘21 Camaro zl1 1le and I love it, but it’s … an adventure in the winter even though I put all seasons on it (I know I could help by putting winter tires on it, but I’m not trying to swap the tires a couple times a year). I don’t go to the track, it’s my daily driver and I have a lot of fun in the car. The suspension has never bothered me, not too stiff or whatever like I’ve heard people complain about. So yea, the awd is the difference maker to me. That and the eray is quicker, faster 0-60 and 1/4 mile, even though the z06 is faster at the top end. Can’t wait to get mine in a few months, my allocation is supposed to be up in a couple weeks.

    Im purchasing an Eray. I was thinking of the Z06, however, the Eray is a daily driver and comes standard with the $8.5k Brembo package,optional on Z06 which also has a gas tax of $2,500. So you’re looking at a $16k base price difference between the Z06 and Eray, not $5k. And, honestly, how many peeps track their car?
    A stingray, base around $68k, is a good place to start as far as discussing Eray pricing. I would spend $12k for the wider body/Z06 suspension parts. Id spend another $12k for the added torque of the Emotor/AWD and the cool tech that goes with it. Brembo ($8.5k), performance exhaust, Mag ride, Rear Spoiler, Larger Rims/Tires, GT2 seats, ALL standard, and the list goes on. Oh, and the 3LZ package, swaeeet. The Eray, in my opinion, is worth the extra scratch above the Stingray. And yes, the Z sounds sweeter, however, a rougher/ tighter ride, which the Eray can emulate in track mode and has its own sweet sound. As far as being a “fad” let’s face it, our grandkids will only know electric cars. Wonder if the Zora will have a fad motor upfront🤔Unfortunately the fad is combustible engines, like the horse and buggy/manual tranny.
    Oh, the HTC is so worth it. I’m 6ft tall and fit very comfortably. So with the $16k savings on the Eray over the Z06, I’m purchasing the HTC, 3LZ, front nose lift, and other goodies. Enjoy it while we can. The main thing is, Thank You GM.

    You pointed out that you were driving so others could experience the drive vicariously through you. That being the case; you should not have omitted using the battery regenerative mode since there are those watching who don't care for the noise of the Z06 , or purposely want to know of it ability to be economical yet not have to hear constants reminders of your personal preferences.
    You can express your observations while still maintaining a degree of objectivity if you are truly going to allow others a vicarious experience.

    I’d like to see them throw the Z06 engine in the E-Ray. That is the one I would buy. I’m deciding on the new Carrera hybrid or one of the future variants of the C8.

    One myth about the Z06 is it’s a track car. I put it in manual mode using paddles and it’s an incredible experience across the TAC range in any mode on the street……it’s really fun all the time.

    AWD. I have an 800 foot driveway and it’s fairly steep. E-Ray is what I’m keeping an eye on if I could ever get one around invoice.

    The Eray in Canada vs z06 spec for spec is properly priced ($186K vs $212K). Basically the c8 + similar z06 hp (all-wheel drive, all-weather capability + battery + Emotor) + widebody + larger wheels/tires and carbon ceramic brakes. Imo that's a lot of car for the price vs the Z06 (non z07).

    I also feel the ERAY is about 10k over price. When they announced the price, I felt it was overpriced. After weeks of thinking about, I have came to the conclusion that the Carbon Ceramic brakes drove the price up. If you could get non Carbon brakes, it would be priced perfectly

      The price is the real factor for me. I think it's a great car and fits perfectly in the lineup but the price is just too high in my opinion.

    GM has learned from Ferrari and Porsche on having a hybrid to an engine. The E-ray and the base C8 makes the most sense for regular driving and even at the drag strip. The Z06 has always been more road course track type of car since the beginning which is no surprise. No need to have a Zo6 as most will never track the car nor have the skill to drive it at its real level. But to each their own lol. Many other shows have already shown how in the streets and strip, the eray smokes the Zo6 as well as a C7Z beats the C8Z on high way rolls. GM is just starting to see the power of the midengine platform. Bring on the C9 baby!!!!

    My 2020 Stingray with mag ride rides so soft on both street and hwy passengers have fell asleep in the car. Now when i bought my Z06 night and day on ride difference and i keep it in tour mode 100% of the time, sport and track mode beats up my back and tour mode is not much better. I still like my Z06 hands down bad ride or not. And the price it depends how bad you want it you will pay what's on the window sticker

      I think the Z06 rides great,
      I keep everything in track and the suspension in touring. It’s stiff, but it does not beat you. Maybe it’s just where I live. I happen to live in Georgia and we have pretty good streets, mostly freshly paved in the city I live in

      We just drove our new Museum delivery Z06 HTC 1100 miles home from BG 2 weeks ago. It was a perfectly comfortable highway cruiser on good roads. We also have a 23 Z51 HTC. Tour in Z06 feels like halfway between tour and sport in the Z51 to me. I was pleasantly surprised how nice the Z06 road on a long trip.

      @@hookemhorns5269 you are 100% right!! That is exactly how I feel about my Z07 and my 2020 Z51. I keep everything in track on the Z07 except for suspension I keep in touring. Feels very similar to Sport on the Stingray

    I forgot to mention, also to make the E-Ray different from the Z06, you get the outside exhaust like the Stingray, not the center exhaust. However, I like really like the E-Ray wheels.

    I would still go for an Eray, unless I don't buy for another 3 years. I couldn't careless about the FPC sound. I still would not bet my life the 5.5L is going to last 150K-200K miles and I don't have faith in GM to make things good if big problems arise (I know that's just me). Acceleration traction is still the eray. 6.2 is already proven as reliable. I love widebodies. (I have C7 GS). If I were to be tracking the car, undoubtedly I would go for the Z06, no question about it. If I see Z06's lasting high mileage in the next 3-5 years and I haven't purchased by then, things might change. Resale values could impact my decision too.

    I agree with the comment made, the over pricing was due to the carbon ceramic brakes. It should have been an option. The excuse I heard what that it was due to the weight of the car and the electric component was the reason.

      @@HorsePowerObsessed Don’t know what to tell you. At my height, I have about an 1.5-2” clearance at the roof. Actually, I have more room vs. the coupe due to its B-pillar design for the targa top. My seat is all the way back and full down though taking advantage of the roof recession. I’ve never hit my head getting in or out.

      @@jimyozi5341 I’m now wondering if the Eray has different seat geometry vs. the stingray and Z06. I had a stingray HTC before my Z06 and both were identical in interior room with no problem, but the “guts” under the seats is different between the two as I tried mounting something below the seat in the Z06, but it wouldn’t work like it did the stingray.

    I agree that the E-Ray is over priced by 10k. There should be a bigger gap in price between the two cars.

      @@HorsePowerObsessed Your exactly right, For the people that say Z06 isn’t worth it or is over priced and Eray is better, drive a Z06 for a week and I bet they will be singing a different tune.
      Being able to stretch it out to 8600 in 1st when the guy next to you has already shifted to 3rd is so satisfying

    Maybe some of the weight you feel is not weight and the fact that it’s AWD. ( Now, never forget that i will be buying a C7 ZR1 and i might want the manual you have so keep me in mind especially because you’re in Florida now where i live) I’ve seen ppl modify these ERay and they become very fast and then sound badass too. Having the AWD option is awesome. I hope every Corvette comes with option to have AWD when you need it. In Florida you will need it on those crazy rain days. 3-4 inches of rain in an hour while you’re stuck in it in sport or muscle car is scary. I own 3 different Hellcat vehicles and in Florida you can go from sunny no clouds to heavy storm in a minute[storms come from nowhere and dump on you and then that’s when all the little cars like civics and Camrys start riding your ass and passing you laughing because you’re white knuckling the steering wheel.

    My friend who has 7 supercars and a zo6 and a eray says he likes his eray best and except for his lotus was the cheapest car by far.

    Seems like the mode that was selected was a factor in the perception of comfort. Andrew drove the Z06 in tour mode vs you normally driving it in sport mode.

      I drove in sport and tour. Both substantially softer than the Z06.

    The Z06 is a fantastic car on the track, but the Eray is the one to beat on the street. The average Corvette buyer will never tap into the full potential of the Z06 unless he's on a track. Whereas in Eray, the average Corvette buyer will be able to tap into its abilities from stoplight to stop light. Also, it's not about fuel economy... It's definitely about SPEED!

    The E-Ray excels at launching and is faster than the Z06. and 99% of cars on the road for that matter. This was not showcased in this video. Its a better touring vehicle and light to light, where 90% of all my action comes from it is better in every way except the sound (that is if you want that loud of a car). It has AWD, vented carbon ceramic brakes, stealth mode so you don't piss off your entire neighborhood at 6am, and has no gas guzzler tax. Its a better daily driver and fills a role similar to the old Grand Sports. Both cars are amazing but most people would be better off on in an E-ray, but most will want the audacious sounding Z06. Also, every time I spec the two cars out I cant build a Z06 for anywhere near the E-ray. Mostly because its impossible to not want to put the Z07 package on for that cool looking wing. Most of the Z06s I see specced out are over 150k.

    I much prefer the Z06. I probably will over the ZR1 too. Only a month away from some stats on it. But I prefer 458 to 488 and 911 gt3 to a turbo. So thats me

    I'm really torn between these cars. My problem exists due to the fact my C6Z is such a great 'driver's car,' and does everything so well, it's like, well, what to do if something were to happen to it. The C8Z would seem almost too radical for me. And the 8CER seems like it's too, well...porky. Considering my C6Z only weighs in at 3153 lbs. So it's incredibly toss-able and is an incredible dancing partner. As to the price of the C8ER...well...it's a helluva lot of capability for the price. Considering all the hours of engineering to make it all happen as seamlessly as it does, and with Ferrari doing their hybrid...and is probably 3x the price, I'm guessing...The C8ER seems like a bargain if one can get it at MSRP. No?

      They definitely are! But for comparison sake, the E-Ray is too much money when it's only a few grand less than the (better in my opinion) Z06.

    Yes, overpriced IMO. I read a comment yest and guy said (re C8s) that MSRP is the mark up. Remember how we thought prices would be less and then GM took a while to release pricing. I think all models are 15k too much at baseline. 🙄

      I agree. All too expensive but when comparing the E-Ray to the Z06 regardless of price, it should be more than a few thousand less in my opinion.

    Yes. Base price should have been in the 80k range.
    If they make a version without the ceramic breaks, problem solved.

      At no point did I say I didn't like the E-Ray, in fact, the opposite. The car surprised me in many ways. My main concern is the price.

    The eray is 8k cheaper includes carbon brakes, faster 0-60, faster 1/4 mile, and still a v8. It’s able to hit a road course between the time of stingray and Z06. Couple mods and the eray would be insane.

    Nice presentation. Seemed like a very informed detailed comparison of the two cars for the driving experience. I assume that the suspension comparison is to Z06's with the Z07 package options. My opinion is that the E-Ray is overpriced by closer to $15,000. Being AWD does not impress me and I have no interest in better traction in snow. The electric sound is a bit loud and less of a symphony sound of a Tesla.

    E-Ray appeals to younger Corvette buyers. (Confirmed by Chevy). Z06 appeals to those in midlife crisis and above. (Confirmed by me).

    This isn’t an objective standpoint. Who can say an American-AWD-2 seater-hard top convertible-WITH hybrid technology, and also the fastest 0-60/Quarter mile gasoline car under $1M should be under $100k.... it’s silly at best, and disingenuous at worst. They are BOTH a BARGAIN for less than $200K.

      They definitely aren't bad, but I still think the Z06 forged wheels are the nicest stock option with the E-Ray wheels being a close second.

    What isnt overpriced post covid ? Without watching the video the answer is no obviously . In relative terms the E-ray is a bargain and bang for buck masterpiece and the corvette people need if honest and cant afford to have a full stable of cars and want to use their corvette as a car and make Demons and other cars cry at stoplights in real world and not get dusted off by common EVs playing sit and spin on real roads .
    The only reason to dislike this car is if you own a Z06 and dont like a cheaper widebody being a better street car and more adult looking .
    If i were getting chased in real world i would take E -Ray over any corvette e

    It’s not that it’s overpriced. It’s that who would take it over the Z when both are roughly the same price? The Z06 has a legacy. The E Ray is a fad.

      I agree, but that also boils down to being overpriced in the current lineup at least. If this car started at 90k, it would fit perfectly in there between the Z06 and Stingray.

      @@HorsePowerObsessedhaven’t watched the whole video yet but I’m curious if the other guy (Andrew?) would prefer your Z over his E-Ray. I’m sure deep down he would swap if he could. Probably some buyers regret when he took yours for a spin.

      @@HorsePowerObsessed so you think 15k over a c8 for 150 more hp and a z06 body and chassis with awd and battery power..lol..sorry, but that is ridiculous since it would take 30k to do a 150hp add on to a c8 aftermarket

      eh. I had a C7 Z06 and while it's not the FPC C8 Z06, I would pick an AWD C8 every day and twice on Sunday, even if it didn't have the electric motor(s) up front. While the C8Z sounds and looks good, after owning a rather powerful AWD car, I understand how fun and accessible that setup can be over a RWD car--for me.
      While I'm in the market to get another Corvette, I understand that it's just a fun car and not something that I will take that seriously in the scheme of things.

    The eray has the wrong engine. The purpose of hybrids are number one , fuel savings and number two , the additional low end , instant torque. Its supposed to be faster than a gasoline vehicle of near equal performance numbers. But the 911 turbo s smokes it .

      For MSRP's, one starts at $104,000, and the other is at $131,000. One has been around, and thenother is a newly released product. It's reasonable that one would be better than the other given the fact that it benefits from having been established for several model years.

      Lol, did you honestly just compare a car that costs more than double the E-ray to prove your point? For the price the E-ray destroys everything in its class, and at any price it hangs with the best. Hybrid systems in sports cars have never been about gas savings. If you want to save gas go buy a Rav4 Hybrid, not a 2.5 second zero to sixty 6 figure sports car...

      @@DUSM Uh....Porsche Turbo BASE price is $199,195.....Turbo S is $232,395. It's faster than an Eray and a Z06.....better be for an extra $100k. ZR1 will probably smoke them both
