Thanks Shifty! The bags also could be reused, and no electricity needed!
Very true! I have repeat customers that return bags for me all the time
You're very welcome & thanks again! Those are great points I forgot to mention...I'll have to do another follow up vid here soon.
I really enjoyed this video, your explanations were spot on.
Can’t wait to see the next big upgrade in the firewood yard!
I need to make you an empty bag holding station on that. You know, for the windy days and so they are close to you when loading.
I was thinking of what would be an easy way to keep the bags handy and nearby...then it hit me, oh yeah....the box they were shipped in works pretty good....hahahaha!
I actually set the bags right on the table top and set a chunk of wood on them. As you pull a bag, make the piece of wood roll towards the center post
I’m partial to the original but the new version of the wheel is definitely round
It's way too deep. Someone was smoking meth when they designed it. It's terrible. You pack it neat, and then once you flip it they are sliding at different rates based on friction. The nice right pack of wood you had goes in the bag too loose.
Dan, I have always preferred bags as do many of my cottage neighbours. You don't always use all the wood at once so when the wood is wrapped in cellophane , you end up with a mess. Having a bag means you can keep it tidy and carry it out to the fire pit etc as needed etc. Way better IMO. Awesome, practical product for sure. Keep smiling!
That's another great point...with wrap once ya cut it open or take a stick out the bundle is shot. Not the case with a bag.👍😀🍻
Well done! Good description /explaination of why it works for you. Great video!
I've been a bagger for a long time and you know that! I've been running an ez bagger for over a year now and I will never go back. Before that I had a palax packer. The primary advantage is the customer will always prefer bags, and that's a guarantee! Not to mention I can bag 60+ bags an hour easily, I could never make wrapped bundles that fast with my electric twister
you hit the nail on the head. The bag is better for those of us that dont have a processor. you converted me. 😂 im being serious. this bagging station is awesome.
The Log Hog
I got one of those built last year and they increased our production four fold at least. I agree that paying a little more is well worth it. Thanks for sharing my friend.
New trailer, new bundler, product placement with the lanyard and beautiful assistant. You are like the Ronco (set it and forget it) of the woodhound industry. LOL! Great video.
Hahahaha...thanks! Yep got something coming at ya from every direction! lol
Very true!
Ive been using mine for a few weeks now and love it! I drank the kool aide and got into firewood seriously this season and so far we're in 4 beer distributors and a convenience store. All the beer places had a guy but all said they stopped returning calls when they needed more and they were all wrapped but not very well and often fell apart, as soon as they saw our bags they were sold. I haven't timed myself compared to my wrapping station but I bet it's at least twice as fast.
That's pretty slick.
Have you bought you employee of the year her steak dinner yet?
Oh and her raise??
Great job Dan - Nice to see the Wolfe Ridge MFG bagging station in action.
Love your videos, I have a .75 bucket coming along with 17vs-c from wolf ridge. Again awesome videos. Stay safe my friend.😊
The bags won't hold moisture in like the wrap does sometimes if the wood is a little wet
All good points on the bag vs wrapped bundles. The lengths don’t matter if they a off a little. I wrap almost all the wood. Some wrap better than others. Great looking tool.
The Woodyard and the Back 40 just keep getting better!
I’m with you on the bags, dirty wraps at the stores are 👎, bags much more a pleasant look and helps keeps the fireplace cleaner. SC coast campground this past week was .75 cu ft kiln dried @ $8.99. I was a big fan of your trash can but this loader is nice! 👍🏻👏🏻 and I like the trailer!
hi there looks real nice . you know old cheep me , may think of making one from a old green school trash can , and you had 2 helpers , john
Well Dan, I may have to consider adding this to my arsenal. Now I would be able to split and bundle from my Wolfe Ridge to my Wolfe Ridge!!😂 Great video with details!!
If you're at all thinking about selling bundles/bags this really makes it easy.
Dan, I'm glad the bags work best for your operation. But I will keep my heat shrink tunnel system. I can do bundles that stack evenly on a pallet. it is great to watch how everyone does things different ways. Keep the great videos coming.
I had seen that on the Wolf Ridge site , very cool/good idea.🤙
I think the bags present better in my roadside stand. They’re also easier for people to grab-n-go.
Hello Dan, you just sold me on the bags my friend 🚜🪵👍🏼🇺🇸
What?!? You've been doing bags for how long haven't ya?
I hope mine is delivered this week….sweet. Rick’s Outdoors
Thanks for helping me decide which way to go.
Knowing that you wont be selling any saggy bags will make me sleep alot better tonight lol 🤣🤣!! That is definitely a nifty contraption that Chris built. Stay safe my friend
Nice!👍🏻
It appears those bags have enough white empty space to allow you to cut templates for your business name and phone #. Just shoot black paint over the templates and everyone will know who to call for more!
I like your comment! I was trying to figure out how to get my logo on these bags…always good to get your name out there and logos, stickers, etc. are a great way to do this.
Good video Dan… I do like the bags… when I start, my firewood stand, I think I will use the bags.
Thanks Tim and you've got the right idea for your stand...the bags do work great!
I do like the idea of bags vs wrapped, they look better in the stand. Excellent video and explanation of how the bagging station works.🍻
That bagging station works great
People like just grabbing the bag and tossing it in the car trunk. You can also reuse the bag for things like camping gear or trash. The bag is the way to go.
Works great! I definitely prefer doing bags👍👍
I like it.
Bag Man! 😂 Well Dun!!
HAY ( D ), THAT'S PRETTY COOL BROTHER. I'VE ALWAYS BEEN BETWEEN THE BAGGER & THE BUNDLE. WELL, I'VE GOT TO SAY THE BAGGER LOOKS TO BE THE VICTOR IN THE GRAB & GO WAR... KILLER TRAILER; I REALLY LIKE THE DULE AXEL VERSION FOR THE SIDE-BY-SIDE. AND ALSO, IT'S REALLY COOL TO SEE AMANDA HANGIN'' ROUND THE CAMERA MORE THESE DAYS. I THINK SHE GOT OVER THE SHYNESS... I HAD TO MOVE ALL THE FIREWOOD TO ANOTHER SPOT CAUSE WE'RE HAVING OUR DRIVEWAY INSTALLED...I MOVED IT ALL WITH THE LIL-BOSS-MANS WAGON. STAY COOL, BROTHER... PEACE...
Do you have people return the bags to you?
I do have a few people that bring bags back on occasion.
Shifty - you should make your old bagger as a prize at the FNL at Bunyan. Everyone gets a ticket and draw the winner at the end of the night. Maybe even sign it!
Hahahahahaha...now there's a Grand Prize for sure! I might have trouble getting it on the plane however...lol
Good idea Dan, but the way I see if you don’t have to spend the money why bother. Just my thoughts on it.
Dan it looks like if there was a way to lock it into a °45 or °33 angle it would be alot faster and easier to load!
I was thinking the same thing.
@@DJRyder7 I think it would be easy to put a flip lever because the way it is now it is not very efficient at all
This is possible by tightening the bolt for swivel.
@@WolfeRidgeSplitters it seems like that would be more difficult to turn is it a possibility to a one-way spring flip that holds it up?
I definitely need one. Good vid.
Great way for selling the chunks…I may have to build one
I like it 👍
Interesting take my friend ; It would be of my opinion also that the bags presented a higher caliber product . having an empty bag on hand comes in to play for so many reuses .
That is really slick
Camo fire wood bundles. We hide it, you buy it. 😂🤣
I laughed because the add during your video was for Glad Bags.😂
Hahahaha...too good.
Not bad not bad at all.
Always keep a couple bundles in the truck that way when you see people having a campfire you can swing in and sell them a few plus there usually drinking so selling is easy
Maybe leave a note asking people to return empty bag(s) to reuse them. Yeah, that's not where I saw that bagger...
Nice of you to add a stick of wood so you don't have a saggy bag!!
I'm 64, and saggy bags ARE a thing !!
Emerald also showed us that bags increase air flow and the wood won’t mold in them like it can when plastic wrapped. Also, the bags are reusable and won’t get tossed into the fire like some campers/fire ringers do the plastic. If I had a spot for a roadside stand, I’d be baggin, though I would want a plastic hopper rather than a gong one. That gets old quick. Reno
I have the Multitech bagger definitely a game changer nice video and info
Where do I put my label? the built in handle is a plus . the bundle is still contained after opening . if not all used is .a plus. Thanks Dan
I saw this idea on another channel that a young man in high school built. Hope Chris paid him for the idea and design. That fella built it in his metal shop at school.
Thinking about getting one for chunks
Looks simple to me. 😁👍
Skedder Kev has a way of doing it that is faster and better for your lower back. Look it up.
You’re killing me man. Good video and perspective of the advantages of the bagger. Probably be in the yard in the next few order cycles. Still don’t like the bag cost eating into profit but might be a necessary evil given the benefits. You must have been debate team Captain back in the day!
One thing - could the can benefit from not being as deep?
I think the can being as deep as it is makes sure nothing is sticking up to catch the bag when you pull it over...idk.
Gas stations and 7-Elevens here in Chicago are selling 5 piece bundles for $7.99 Each..
LOL, nope. Wrap is still better!! :-) However, bags for the win when it comes to the chunk/BBQ wood. I'll stick with my wrap though!
I liked the bags too. I think the people get a fair deal with your bags wheen compared to the bundles I see for sale. Ive seen bundles with as few as 5 pieces. Not even enough for 1 campfire . Give em a good deal and don't look back.
Great video…thanks! If you were doing chunks that are a little bigger than fist size for BBQers, would you fill the bucket to the top? I guess another way of asking is, would you get more wood in a bag that was chunked thus probably charging more? Also, where do you get the different color bags? Thanks.
Might get a little more in the bags with chunks, not sure. I don't have many BBQ customers and the ones I do have actually prefer to cut down the pieces themselves. I get my bags from a website called Northern Woodsmen.
It is a nice bagger how many can you bag in an hour
So what does the cost per bag work out to be?? It would also be nice if the bag maker mad the strap material a little longer so you end up with a better handle
No thanks Brock I already have one of those same headaches , I don't need another ! LOL
pc
Wouldn't it work better if the platform was mounted under the ca?
You would need at least 18" of clearance and also the platform is for tying the bag shut so it is at a nice working level. When using with 2 people one can tie on the platform while the other loads.
I'm switching to bags from wrapping I'll have a brute force wrapper forsale
what are the measurements of the bags you are using?
The bags are 21"x25"
Hate a saggy bag 😅😅
How much you sell your yellow bags for ?
$5 a bag 👍
Should t it flip and fall onto the platform and not the ground?
Nope the platform is for tying to bag shut so it is at a comfortable level...the platform would have to be about 18" under it to clear the drop.
Hi Dan. Great video! I have a question do you think it's feasible to season firewood in the bags? Thanks!
I'm sure it would be but if the bags are in the sun they'll fade, and also if they are stacked up and a mouse gets in your bags might not be holding the wood when you go to pick them up....lol
@@Back40Firewood that makes sense. Thanks!
Where does a fella get those bags, whatr the dimensions of them? If you don't mind sharing
Where do you buy the yellow bags? Ty
They go better with the stand. I painted the roadside stand dark green, and the yellow goes well with it. I'm in WI, Green Bay Packer colors. LOL
Great review of the firewood bagger...Keep up the great work. 🇺🇸🪵🪓🌲🥃🥃
How heavy is it in weight?
The bagger weighs maybe 40ish pounds I'd guess.
Hey do you sell you bundles in bulk if so on average do you sell each bag for?
Bundles/bags are $5 each for 1 or 100....no bulk discount.
@@Back40Firewood ok perfect that’s the same as what I do
@@Back40Firewood I just started this year so I’m trying to gauge myself and see
Seems like a shifty cover up in several ways not that I have either one of them😂
i think bags are way to go. you dont have the cost of the expensive wrap machine.
$600 for this seems on the steep side. I’m sure with the metal costs and paying employees a living wage it is priced how it needs to be but for what it is seems like there should be a less expensive bag flipper
I wrap over 20000 bundles way to slow to bag
Hiding something is a benefit??? You can't see anything with a bag. With a bundler (clear plastic wrap, with a company name), everything can be seen.
Cost?? I don’t want to sell 6 months worth of bundles to pay for it! My wrap works just fine. Different lengths, different species, it’s firewood! I sell plenty the way I do it. Bags add too much cost for me.
@@Dorchwoods That would be a good experiment - Shifty should put out 10 of each on his stand. Bagged are $1 more with the same amount of wood. I bet the bagged sells quicker.
Today's lesson: If you need to hide something drop them in a bag! 🤔🤔🤔!
hahahahaha...yep, that's right!
Feel sorry for anyone who buys wood in a bag.
How long will the bottom of that cylinder last dropping that wood in there?
Bill
How long has your dunny lasted ?
Not sure but the welds & steel are pretty heavy duty.
Way back in the day I used to do this, but I used 5 gallon plastic buckets. I found that laying them on their side and loading them was much faster and I could shake the bucket, causing the wood to settle so I could fit the maximum amount in the bucket quickly. I have done thousands and thousands of them. I used to get $2 a bucket.
600 dollars yeah No.
