How to Make a Youtube Thumbnail // Tips + Tutorial

- It's finally here! My tutorial on how I think about, plan and create my thumbnails for all of my UA-cam videos. Your thumbnail is honestly one of the most important parts of creating your video. If your thumbnail is not bright, attractive, and unique enough to catch the viewer's eye, your video will become unnoticed even if it's the best video ever. I tried my best 😅 to walk you through my process of how I put my thumbnail together from editing on Lightroom, and Photoshop, to putting together the thumbnail in Illustrator.

I do photos for my thumbs long before my vid is captured. Screens from vids are never a good idea 🙂

putting effort into your thumbnails absolutely works! people click solely based on that & the title
just a little photoshop tip, you can select the background of your image, right click and “inverse selection” and mask :’)

If anyone is wondering how Alia made the outline of herself more rounder *@**11:28** (simply select the outline and press CTRL)* _discovered that through a bit of trial and error_ 😜
ALSO, this wasn't touch on😟 But to *EXPORT* your image out of Ai, I found that going to _File, Export, Save for Web (Legacy)_ then change the settings from GiF to JPEG. Hit "Save" and you're done!

To outline your body, just put the photo into photoshop, select subject, right click, stroke, and it will add a stroke to the selection! hope this helps!

9:49 Rather than cmd/ctrl+v which is just paste, you can do cmd/ctrl+b which is paste at the back or in the exact same place so to speak.
Hey :) i'm a graphic designer and here is a tip if you want to copy paste something and you want it to paste at the exact same place as the object that you are copying (so you dont need to move it on your own)
after copying an object (Cmd+C) when you want to paste it do : Cmd+Alt+shift+V

Im a graphic designer and I agree with you. I can create good enough thumbnails but always forget to take the photos so it makes it difficult. And to be honest, I spend little time on it until I realized how much it matters to UA-cam viewers.

Awesome Alia! :) Some extra tips that can help in Illustrator:
• To copy and paste in the same place you just cmd + c (copy) and cmd + f (paste in place).
• To use the pen already making curves you just hole and the pen tool pointer will change to an arrowhead. Then you can drag to set the slope of the curve segment and then release.
