Some things are so obvious. The shine in his eyes when he talks about visuals and operating the camera, the smile on his face, its so genuine. He really loves his job. What an great man and an inspiration to many.
I love how he comes off as someone you’d see down the pub and could have a fun chat with. But also is able to craft incredible visuals, and just masterpieces on film.
Unlike every other job in the world I feel cinematography is one of the only things that gets better with age. Somewhat like whisky, the older it gets the better.
Digital get worse with age? Oh sure. And the Fujifilm Eterna simulation is worst than the first digital cameras, and the Arri Alexa sucks compared to some of the early digital cameras... oh common that's total BS Rogers Deakins shoot digital a lot now you're talking form your asses
+Joseph Morales by cinematography I mean the cinematographer's eye man. Digital and film is just the technical aspect but the eye of the cinematographer is the main thing. It can only get better with age and experience. You start seeing better as you age 😊
I've worked with so many terrible people in this position. Roger seems very well grounded and a fine human. Doesn't seem like he has let the ego overcome him, like so many I have had the displeasure of dealing with.
Wow, I am in the process of learning and had already met so many terrible people in this field. I thought it was just my luck, I am glad to know it wasn’t just me.
Jacobnguyen Nothing funny about the atrocious camerawork. If the subject was anyone else I wouldn’t care, but one of the greatest cinematographers in the world? How do they not hire a proper camera person?
''The best job on the set'' haha couldn't agree more, and the way he talks about it, this man is really passionate about his craft, as a camera operator myself, this interview made me really happy.
larry fong has lost his touch it seems. have you seen the new predator film? that was quite bland honestly, i love his work on 300 and watchmen though.
Maybe just give him a microphone next time cause let’s face it when your interviewing roger deacons he’s gonna find something wrong with your camera work.
Why don't you cut up the interview a bit more? Also, did the interviewer know it was going on? Perhaps he might tactically mic himself so the question might actually be heard. This whole little series from MAINE Film Festival is CRAP!

Roger is a kid who never gets old. He does it for pure Joy.
Really really love this. He seems like such a great guy.

Well.. I feel digital gets worse with age. Film looks beautiful

I wouldn't say "unlike every other job"... on the contrary in fact, like most jobs the more experience you have the better you get. ;)

In my opinion I don't believe it looks better or looks more beautiful I think its the nostalgic that people like.

i think his wife is the buffer to make sure that doesn't happen. why do you think there are so many morons in that position out of interest?
I hope he will get the Oscar, he is a genius.
Ha
1917 ...
He got the OSCAR for Blade Runner 2049
Oscar or not he's still brilliant. In fact, fuck the oscars.
Called out by Roger Deakins for not operating the camera during an interview
fushangbin I cannot believe this camera operator cut his head off multiple times. What an indescribable shame considering the subject.
@@MartinBuzora Is this your joke?
Jacobnguyen Nothing funny about the atrocious camerawork. If the subject was anyone else I wouldn’t care, but one of the greatest cinematographers in the world? How do they not hire a proper camera person?
The greatest thing about roger deakins is his humanity. It shines through!
''The best job on the set'' haha couldn't agree more, and the way he talks about it, this man is really passionate about his craft, as a camera operator myself, this interview made me really happy.
My hero. Both professionally and personally.
Truly a master and undoubtedly the greatest of all time
I think what makes Roger deakins one of the best is the fact that he openly admits he doesn't know what cinematography is he just.....does it 🤷🏽♂️
Lovely interview of the great artist. Thank you so much!
I'm with Roger Deakins. I love operating the camera as well. It's such an immersive experience.
In love with the way Roger Deakins pronounces *years* .
what a nice and pleasent gentleman!
Congratilations Roger!
From March 2018
Such a master of his art. Next to Larry Fong he's my favorite cinematographer of all time
larry fong has lost his touch it seems. have you seen the new predator film? that was quite bland honestly, i love his work on 300 and watchmen though.
Same. Larry Fong is also one of the masters
why do i fancy this man so much?
This man is a Genius.
One of the best there is. Thanks for sharing this.
Can anyone tell me the name of the background music?
He deserved the Oscar years ago...give him it for Blade Runner 2049 at least.
How did you go about lighting him btw?
"Where you're putting the audience". Definitely. ☕
What a legend
What is the music that's playing in the background?
this guy is too amazing for amazing word .
What a nice fella
imagine the pressure the gaffers must have felt lighting up this interview
he would get it
Great video!!!
💖💖💖💖
Is this interview available in its entirety?
GOAT
Fuck, I think I'm in love with his work, or in love with him? I don't know
I can watch this man talk whatever, even if though it's garbage, all day..
Wow.
Дякую!

omg if i Roger Deakins called me out for not operating the camera on this interview I would alt f4 life.

I doubt it.
Too modest.
