Nice to see the changed from the Red turn signal to the Amber on the rear. I've been rear ended twice because the Red blends in to the brakes too much. I would love to see Honda issue a dealer change and allow '16-'18 Pilots to have them changed.
Great job Nolan! I like your style and you are authentic. Good review. I bought the Passport and I love it. The way it looks (a bit more brawny) and the way it drives. Will you test a Passport soon?
Most of reviews to Honda Pilot 2019 model don’t show the way key fobs work with seats memory. Two fobs coming with each car. The fobs, each one, is designated by driver 1 and driver 2. You can see it on opposite side of the key from buttons. When you set your seat position per your comfort make sure the memory you choose match with fob driver number. For an example, if you set seat position to memory 1 on the door you better use fob driver 1 as well. Anytime you unlock the car and sit down, power on engine, your Pilot will move the seat to memorized position 1, and you will be ready to drive. In the case your seat memory is 1 and fob you use is driver 2, the seat will move to set position for memory 2, then you need to click memory 1 button the door to get your drive position.
Great review, Nolan! Thanks! Just curious: I'd like to know what the take rate is for the captain's chairs. I don't understand the point in buying a three-row SUV and losing a seat, especially when the seats in the third row are, in most cases, not as comfortable as those in a minivan.
Bill thank you! I’m not sure how many people actually go for them. Some older captains chairs used to be wide open in the middle so people could walk through..but now with the center xo some thing it’s not as easy. Probably just for more open space, not sure though!
Honda didn't fix the skinny armrest problem. Unbelievable. It was the only reason I didn't buy one. If you're taller and have wider shoulders then your arm and elbow naturally falls on the outside of these skinny armrests. So basically if you're like me you don have an armrest. That's a deal breaker.
I still dont know why auto makers won't put leds standard all the way around. Like my 2018 Camry Came with led headlights but not turn signals I had to upgrade them so stupid.
James Chapman It's also strange how Honda put full LEDs on the redesigned CR-V, but every other redesigned/ refreshed Honda model (which are more expensive) does not have full LEDs (LED turning indicators in the rear and up front on this Pilot)
The previous gen (2009-15) looked better with the boxy style. This current gen just looks bland and ugly outside & this refresh didn't make the Pilot look any better
I agree, the older Pilots had their own unique styling , newer Pilots look like everything else on the road . Maybe HONDA redesign the Pilot and Ridgeline for 2020 .
John Lopez well given that the Pilot just got refreshed for 2019, I doubt it’ll change until 2022 the earliest (following the Pilot’s usual redesign cycles) and the Ridgeline will more than likely update for 2020
You are 5’9”, and I see seat back side height is below your shoulders, head rest too. Surprised me that with Pilot vs Accord which one I have seats back and headrest are better positioned, designed.
If I wanted to play music out of the USB drive while connecting my iPhone for carplay how would I do that ? it's bad that even top level trim does not support wireless carplay
bhasker chittibabu You would have to use the Bluetooth on your phone to play the music from your phone through Bluetooth while the USB is connected. You can choose which one to play through the head unit center app icons
Dave, I don’t like the lines on the front. I am going to wait for 2020 and either purchase the Rav 4, Highlander or Passport. Honda needs to go big or go home. Toyota Rav 4 redesign was a bold move and if it can tow a decent load like they claim bye bye Honda
Pilot looks like the Odyssey...but higher off the ground. Great (sarcasm). Not sure where Honda is going with it’s new looks on its cars and crossovers.
Prime Autotainment Thanks. I prefer the old boxier look from 2014. I would have called it an Suv back then, now it’s a crossover. Honda took every ounce of masculinity that Pilot used to have and turned into a minivan-ish thing.
End buyer wants the armrest, mate. They are going to go with what sells. The majority of women sit closer to the wheel and then their arms don't reach the center console armrest.
. Nope not copied! I remember you lol. Dave and I collaborate so this is a nearly identical copy of the video on my channel so we can get more exposure to it
Sorry Nolan, you missed a big point. Yes, you went through the list of features & gadgets. The 2 big failures of the current Pilot are the 9-sp AT (for the high $ earners) and the bus-like handling of all the Pilot trims. Yes, the 9-Sp was calibrated, but is it better ? The handling was gloss over (particularly body lean). For the Toyota Highlander to handle better than the Pilot is a major Honda failure. Highlander (3 gens) always had a quieter cabin than Pilot, but that's now been addressed. The professional & subjective nature of handling (chassis dynamics) is the province of "driving experts" and you abandoned it. I will now have to wait for Consumer Reports April 2019 edition to really know about these 2 two things, beyond the echoing of Honda press releases by "auto journalists."
Tony Manero I apologize that I didn’t cover those things as well as I should have. I never got a chance to drive the previous version of th 9 speed transmission so I can’t say whether it’s better or not. It certainly does not handle as well as some others, but it’s plenty good for most of the market Honda is intending to reach. Noise is very hard to cover...in press cars I take decibel ratings but didn’t get to do that with this on the same roads...I would say it’s average but not great, not loud. Back to the transmission, I personally didn’t think it was as responsive or smooth as I expected. I just got out of the Mazda CX-9 and they’re 6 speed seemed smoother and was better at giving you the power when needed. I had this car for such a short period of time..which is a shame because I wish I could have given more of my opinion. I don’t work for anyone, Honda didn’t tell me to say anything or pay me anything. I’m also not a proclaimed driving expert, just an ordinary guy who enjoys filming vehicles I get to see. I like consumer reports and the information they give but I would absolutely not consider their automotive test driving folks experts either. I look at what they say and I often disagree with different things, but again I’m not an expert. Everyone experiences vehicles differently and I try not to be just like the paid journalists out there, because that’s not what I am. I appreciate your time and your input. I do believe that my reviews of the press cars I’ve had are much better in terms of the driving experience.

Hey man great review! Keep up the good work. I'm a fellow Texan as well. Fort Worth here.
Tran Cross awesome, hey neighbor! Thanks for the kind words!

Why do these reviews always review the high end trims?

Thanks Dave! I hope y’all enjoyed the video. Out of all 3 row crossovers in this class which are you taking? Comment below!
Prime Autotainment, It'll be between the CX-9, the Sorento, and the Atlas for me. Nevertheless, great video!
DriveAndBeDriven all good options with their own unique strengths! Thanks Marcus!
Good review .
No hud?
Babs thank you! Correct, no HUD available on any trim
The Honda Pilot usually does better than those others in the government crash tests.

Yippie actually they did, front armrests are wider than 2018.
Everything I've read says the arm rests ARE wider in the 2019s.
They still suck.
The armrest are horrible!!!! I have a 2017 and i almost hate driving it because I can't find a good seat position because of the armrest.
I LOVE THE NEW PILOT!!!
Love Honda's, but would never get bucket seats behind the front. 60/40 split is much more practical for families, dog etc...
I still dont know why auto makers won't put leds standard all the way around. Like my 2018 Camry Came with led headlights but not turn signals I had to upgrade them so stupid.
James Chapman I don’t get it either. It’s a simple thing and easy for them to do
You just said it, you were willing to pay for it.
James Chapman It's also strange how Honda put full LEDs on the redesigned CR-V, but every other redesigned/ refreshed Honda model (which are more expensive) does not have full LEDs (LED turning indicators in the rear and up front on this Pilot)

Baasil F. I prefer the older looks too

What do u like better? The pilot or highlander ?
Pilot.
Everyman Driver ok. Why?
Very nice review. Pilot looks good.
Overall, I like the 2019 pilots.
Can u put led turn signal lights?
The tires look too small for this vehicle.
They are 20" rims which is a pretty big size ... for EX and LX it will go down to 18s .

It’s a lifted up minivan. Just buy a Toyota Highlander or 4Runner. They actually look like SUVs.
4Runner yes. Highlander looks damn near the same as the Pilot.
The Highlander looks more SUV like than the Pilot. It has distinct features that make it look more modern than Honda.
Dave, I don’t like the lines on the front.
I am going to wait for 2020 and either purchase the Rav 4, Highlander or Passport.

B P I agree with you. It really looks too minivan-ish for me

Thanks. That's perfect design. Minivan based. For you, get a crew pickup truck and add cargo top. Perfect man vehicle. Or the Bentley Bentayga.
I dont know if I like the way the front or the sides look. Think previous years look better.
You're in the big leagues now Nolan, you may want to use a camera operator instead of juggling your smartphone while demonstrating vehicle features.
J High haha thanks! I definitely need to try to be steady when using it inside...maybe I’ll try other ways or mounting the camera or something

Tony Manero
Easy there, Disco Stu.
Interior is super nice but the outside got even uglier for the before I liked that 2015 look way better then this and the one before this.
Prince I like the older style too..since 2016 it’s definitely looking more like a minivan
Can you get the Elite in the 8 seat layout?
Forza Aviation the Elite only has captains chairs. In order to get the 8 dear you gotta get the Touring it lower trim
I love driving my Honda Pilot.
And once again there are not listening to the end buyer, get rid of the 80's dodge caravan armrest. Damit
End buyer wants the armrest, mate. They are going to go with what sells. The majority of women sit closer to the wheel and then their arms don't reach the center console armrest.
This thing needs a full model redesign asap.
Yes!! It sucks
This thing is trash 😂
Is this video copied? I saw the same one today earlier.
. Nope not copied! I remember you lol. Dave and I collaborate so this is a nearly identical copy of the video on my channel so we can get more exposure to it
Prime Autotainment Makes sense. Sorry I just didn’t know😂
. No problem I get ya!
🎉 I love this SUV 🎉

I see few videos on UA-cam where that 9 speed automatic already showing problems.
why they did not put a central console , it look to me like a minivan inside . I did not like that
Meh....🤨
Its either he's filming using a wide angle lens or that Pilot looks small as hell for its looks.
Very Doge haha yeah it was a wide angle lense most of the time
Definitely best in class 👍👍
I hope he doesn't get unplugged
Your in dallas area cool I live in Mckinney
CarPro Installs nice! Not far at all 👍
Prime Autotainment do you ever go to any car meets.
CarPro Installs I’ve been the cars and coffee but otherwise not really. You go to many in the area?
Prime Autotainment I tried Roof Top meet in Plano and that was awesome.I have been to Cars And Coffee once
Honda pilot you are okay keep it up
Honda's not fooling me. That's a minivan.
Look at the skinny armrest 😂😂😂
This is the worst riding car I ever bought take it for a test before you buy lot of good features but shake your guts out on rough road
Still no android auto or apple car play.
they had that since 2016.
Meh...looks rather "mini van-ish".
Looks like a CRV
Superb car. Osem
This car is hoooot
Very very rough ride
👍
👍🏾
Ouuu fancy
Cool
