I saw a performance of this song at a student theatre awards recently, and it was phenomenal. The slowed down part after Seymour's solo, the other performers are brawling and walking and fighting in slow motion as Seymour walks around them and its just so eerie. audrey and the women I think were hiding/getting abused or leading men off stage if I remember correctly. I'd love to see a full live performance of this show.
This cast is the 2003 revival cast. The designation Original Broadway Cast refers to the cast that originated the show on Broadway or nearby. The Original Broadway Cast for Little Shop of Horrors was in the off-off-Broadway in 1982 which moved to the Orpheum Theatre off-Broadway, where it had a five-year run.
Revivals on Broadway of shows, which do well enough the second (third, fourth.) time and get an album, are usually called “Broadway cast album” and even “original” if the staging was different than before. Since this was a mix of the movie and off broadway show. However, off-broadway cast albums are never billed as “original Broadway cast.” Near broadway is not “Broadway,” which has a legal definition.
i’ve never seen a recording of this song with so much audible audience stuff- i’m kinda surprised how often they laugh during parts that always hurt my heart lol. it’s cool that people get so much out of this song. thanks for sharing :^)
This was incredible. The only thing I wish is that the director would've leaned more on making this an ensemble song and had fuller cast constantly on stage and the lighting had eased up on the spotlights a bit more.
This is THE ensemble # that makes or breaks a production of LSOH. ❤️🌟 Hunter Foster was also my FAVORITE Broadway Seymour, after Rick Moranis in the film. Jeremy Jordan is ok, but he's too legit hot to be believable in the role -- same with Jake Gyllenhaal.
@@TeddyLeitner I'm sure he can sing pretty well, but he's totally sounding like a geek singing this and that's just how he's supposed to sound. That's why I said wonderfully bad.
Johnny Kiener yeah okay do some fact checking. This is the original BROADWAY cast. The cast from 1982 was OFF-Broadway. And yes, there’s a difference Incase you didn’t know.

ngl, I judge every production of LSoH by how well they nail this song.

This is a video that's zooming in. It's harder to see the nuances of lighting without being able to see the full stage
Music by Alan Menken
Book & Lyrics by Howard Ashman
Based on the Film by Roger Corman
Screenplay by Charles Griffith
Seymour is giving me Patton Oswalt vibes
He sounds like Andrew Rannells
He play Frankenstein in the Frankenstein musical.
@@TeddyLeitner I think that every time I listen to his song from Urinetown!
Wow....that was great!
You know I wish Theresa's a way to see this play on blu ray or dvd it would sell for billions along with the wiz .MAN THAT WOULD BE SO COOL!!!
Who is that Goddess singing the opening lines? WOW!!!
I think it's DeQuina Moore; she was also Pilar in Legally Blonde.
Too bad someone can't get a video of the original OFF broadway production.
There's actually a recording (THE ENTIRE PLAY) just search for it
YES GIRLS.

" Yo Adrien , You think we'll ever leave this place "" I don't Know " ( Rocky 5)
Wow.
If you’re gonna do a production of Little Shop of Horrors you better nail Skid Row and Suddenly Seymour!!!
The audio is so bad I can barely hear it. x-x But it's a nice effort
This isn't the original cast it's one of many revival casts
It's the original Broadway cast. There had never been a Broadway production before or since.
Hunter Foster is a wonderfully bad singer. It works just right in this.
How is he bad
Bad enough to get a nice weekly Equity Broadway Production contract in a leading role!
@@TeddyLeitner I'm sure he can sing pretty well, but he's totally sounding like a geek singing this and that's just how he's supposed to sound. That's why I said wonderfully bad.
@@LATINHANDS65 talented guy that can do a wonderful job of singing bad.
Poor people just wanna get out of skid row... fucked up world..
There is no other Audrey except Ellen. Pale imitation
Gardners Gourmet Bakery periodt
i cannot stand her voice. wonderful actress though.
Casey Van Dyke the voice makes the character. it shows her fragility and it’s a speech impediment
Fernando Medina i don’t mind her speaking voice- just her singing. she makes a great audrey nonetheless.
So what would you have us do when Ellen is no longer around? Retire the show because no one can play the part to your specs again?
This is the new broadway cast fake fan
