Living with American Crocodiles

- American crocodiles are a recovering threatened species native to south Florida and the Keys. Federally listed as an endangered species in 1975, crocodile numbers have rebounded from a few hundred individuals to as many as 2,000 adult crocodiles today. The Florida population is now classified as threatened by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. While American crocodiles are found along the coasts of Mexico, Central and South America and the Caribbean, Florida is the only place in the United States where people can see American crocodiles in the wild. American crocodiles are normally shy and reclusive, and conflicts between crocodiles and people are extremely rare. The FWC takes public safety very seriously and administers a program designed to be proactive and responsive. Whenever someone is concerned about an American crocodile, they should call 866-392-4286 (866-FWC-GATOR) and one of our crocodile agents will respond. I was fortunate enough to have seen several of these fellas in the wild. So beautiful and ancient
The croc in the last shot looks as if he's saying, "I'm smiling, but I WILL kill you."🫢
I feel like I just watched the video for job application
Crocodiles are the cousins of alligators, but more aggressive, and both are related to dinosaurs.
I thought only Gators in US.. but they have Crocs
The everglades in Florida is the ONLY place on the plant where gators and crocs live side by side
Gators in fresh water, crocs in salt.
@@oneeyedman99they both can be found in freshwater, brackish water, and saltwater.
You can be sitting on the beach in pure saltwater and have a giant alligator come up right next to you.
You must stay vigilant near ANY water.
florida is the sunshine state and it has alligators crocodiles and snakes!
Spidrrs, too!
Disposing of fish scraps in designated containers seems a bit much.
I like Crocodiles better than Alligators.
They like you more than Alligators too 🥣
@@lukebutterworth3397Thanks, I think.
Yup, there's a mutual love for each other lol
🍽️🏃🐊
Keep up the good work guys.
Shy?! That’s not what I heard from Floridians.
Well floridians are wrong
@@oxyranus9355 These Crocs are actually quite intelligent and very curious critters.
@@oxyranus9355BS! They’re larger and far more aggressive than gators. Luckily the vast majority are down south west in the Everglades sanctuary. Mexico and Cuba have them too.
They’re shy but curious, I’m a Floridian who has seen a few and gotten less than ten feet away from on
Alligators and American Crocs above 8' in length should not be trusted. The crocs in FL have so far not taken humans and we know gators take people every year. American Crocs in Central America seem to be more aggressive. The crocs can reach 19'.@@That_0ne_guy_FL
Only place Alligators and Crocs co-exist
Why not bring in some Habu snakes too? and box jelly fish WTF, FWC ?
Don’t like it move out of the state
Should ban all exotic imports.
This is an indigenous animal in south Florida.
It's an indigenous species (American Crocodile) but yeah, with all the various invasive species in Florida I have long joked that we should import some Asian forest elephants, fence off the FL wetlands & then declare it a national zoo lol
American 🐊 are cool.
see you in a while...
No bolt gun?
So when can we hunt them
Until one eats you of course. Lol
You can’t
thats illegal and also one of the reasons they nearly went extinct so you wont be able to hunt them likely in your lifetime
You cant
They’re endangered, so you shouldn’t.
