OMG, the glitter part made me happy! Also, thanks! I will use the info in future builds.
Thank you for the knowledge 👍
Clint rocking the Panthers shirt? Ok, I have one BA barrel so far out of all my ARs but now, knowing how AMAZING my Hanson barrel is, I’m getting so many more MAINLY because my man CLINT LOVES THE BEAT BAND EVER! GETCHA PULL!
My god your enthusiasm is contagious. I just watched to learn about where to Loctite and I’m hooked.
Stay with me... You two remind me of Louis Prima and Keely Smith. Except genders flipped. One is still and stoic and the other is enthusiastic and animated. I know it’s a stretch but check out some videos of theirs.
Helpful video, much appreciated. One thing I might add is that there is also green Loctite. It's a penetrating loctite that is used for screws that are already installed and you don't want to unscrew (for whatever reason). I don't use it a lot, but it's awesome for the few situations where you need it.
Really like the idea of Pink Loctite!
100 points for the Pantera shirt!!! the baddest-ass badasses of all time!!!
Just purchased my first BA barrel, a 16” 223 Wylde SS Premium, hoping it’s gonna be just as badass as that shirt:-)
good tips---everything get's loctited!
Learned there is a purple loctite 222 low strength thread lock. May be best for the small screws in the enhanced / M4E1 upper.
Blue loctite is medium strength and there is no need to use heat to break it loose. It is used to keep screws from vibrating loose. In my opinion the best place for its use is for mounting scope bases and all the screws on scope rings. There is a purple loctite that is a low strength. It is also used to keep very small screws from vibrating loose, no real use on firearms more for very tiny screws like watches and eyeglasses.
Just want to say I've purchased barrels from ballistic advantage they are always awesome
Great video - I have found that red Loctite is REALLY difficult to remove. If you use it - just beware that if you ever want to remove the muzzle device or gas block with (esp. high temp.) red Loctite you'll need a torch. Some of these loctite products resist up to 500 degrees F. Rocksett resists heat to something like 1,000 degrees F but is easier to remove because it's water soluble (but not good if you are going to ford a river). I'd say use Rocksett instead of red Loctite if there is any doubt about replacing the item. What are your thoughts on Rocksett?
I'm still learning when it comes to the AR but thanks to 20 years automotive repair I know locktite. Both red and blue are rated for the same heat, just different torque specs. Both red and blue are good to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. For anything hotter they make a high temp varient which is good to about 500 degrees. Over 300 and red or blue will both turn to dust and just be mucking up your threads.
Love the Rocksett on the Hot Spots! 🐼🐼🐼
Great to hear! -Sarah @BA
Blue on any rail screws also
Greeting from SoCal. Just received my first premium 16” barrel from you folks, woot woot! Sarah is so dang cute. Helpful videos. 👍. Cheers, Matthew.
Can you explain the difference between different rifling....button rifling, cut rifling...and what you guys use?
Absolutely👍👊
Hey Clint, what do you think about freezing a barrel and heating the upper in order to make the barrel fit the upper. And what does that say about the the upper and the barrel? I recently had to do that on a build I'm working on. I'm also wondering if I ever want to remove the barrel will I damage the upper?
What about accessories? Like flashlight or optic mounts, handgrips etc.
Is that we're the "Hanson profile " comes from? Did Clint design it...and why did he make it that way? Would be a cool video to see. Ps can't wait to get a B.A. barrel for my first build.. my birthday is July 4th..lol
For anyone interested, Loctite 262 is high strength and Loctite 266 is high strength high temp which holds up to 232°C (450°F). Both will be able to be removed with heat though. Propane or heat gun. If you use it sparingly regular hand tools will work to remove also. A little dab’ll do ya!
Nice shirt, Clint!
Sarah makes me smile :)
Are your uppers and lowers loctited from your factory?
Good question Sarah, about the difference in locktite. Most people don't know!
Good videos guys. After watching a few, I noticed Clint is cleaned up, when doing videos w/ Sarah....🤔
Hey there Chris! Thanks so much, glad you are enjoying them 😊 When you say "cleaned up" do you mean language wise? Hehe, have you watched the Batman and Robin episode yet? ua-cam.com/video/9bId9PzIUF8/v-deo.html - he gets a bleep during the bloopers 😂 Thanks for watching! -Sarah @BA
Upper tension set screw?
How do you feel about the green Loctite around the barrel extension and upper reciever?
It already has a giant nut holding them together!
You never mentioned barrel to reciever... I hear some say to seat the barrel into the receiver with loctite???
How about the castle nut?
Love that PANTERA shirt
How do y'all feel about bedding the barrel to the upper with Loctite 609 or 620?
Have you done this yet? I've noticed huge accuracy improvements after bedding the barrel.
Building AR pistols or SBR's: What is your preferred barrel length for those type of builds?
Hey Charles! Thanks so much for the question- make sure to stay tuned and see if Clint answers 😊 -Sarah @BA
I just like the 300BLK for the AR style pistols. An 8.5 inch barrel is long enough to utilize the powder load. But I'm curious to what they say on this. The 556 in a short barrel just doesn't utilize the cartridge very well.
I would like to know about rifling as far a button rifling broach and how ba does there rifling by the way I have a hanson performance series barrel and I love it
Hi Blake! Thanks for the great question... keep watching to see if Clint answers! Also, so glad to hear you love your barrel! 😊 -Sarah @BA
Sarah is a riot!
I’ve heard to use Rocksett on gas block. Yay or nay?
Bryce Czirr I know all of this. My question was concerning rocksett. I used red loctite. A looong time ago
Hi, you are mistaken fyi... Red locktight turns to dust under heat (even their high temp red). Rockset is the ONLY thing to use under high temps, i.e. barrel compensator, etc. And it only comes loose with warm water... The rest that doesn't get to hot locktight is okay.
Red 272 takes a shitload of heat to come off. All red colored loctite is not the same. It's in the number.
What about the set screw that removes wobble between the upper and lower? Just wondering cuz I tighten it then after a few mags its wobbling again.
100%
How does .300 blackout handle dwell time compared to 5.56?
Hi there! Thanks for the great question- make sure to keep watching and see if Clint answers 😊 -Sarah @BA
She's funny. He's the straight answer guy, and she's the one that keeps it quirky and fun.
There is pink locktite. It’s used for those tiny screws.
God Bless Texas!
Isn't Texas so great?! I was born and raised in Florida, but lived in Texas for many years and have deep roots there for sure 😊 -Sarah @BA
People that don't or haven't lived in Texas don't understand what it's like to be here. To be from here. To be born here. The Love we have for our state. It's unlike any other place in the world. You and Clint do a great job on the videos. Thanks!
Shane Finch I totally agree, Texas pride is REAL. Thanks so much for the kinds words and for watching our videos, we so appreciate it! -Sarah @BA
A lot of bad people and companies moving to Texas trying to change the laws. All it takes is 10 years to change the legislation. Texas might be America’s final Frontier, I’ll be there to help like Davy Crockett. God Bless Texas . From Illinois
Hell yeeaaa PANTERAAAA!!!
Which Loctite do u recommend? RED 271 or RED 272?
272
Sarah... oh, oh, oh... what about a Rainbow Brite or My Little Pony AR-15? can never start these kids too soon in the AR World. Maybe put those streamers on the bottom of the pistol grip like we used to have on the bicycle handle bar grips too ;) lol
Keay, haha yes! I like where your head is at! I myself may or may not have dropped the great name of Lisa Frank during cerakote discussions... 😉
Question for Sarah, were you a cheerleader in HIgh School?
Hey there, no... but I have studied dance for most of my life 😊 Thanks for the question! -Sarah @BA
loctite your foregrip and your optic if it’s your rifle it should never change once you train w it
Love your barrels but for the love of God would you please dimple and pin your gas blocks for the barrels you sell you Aero Precision! I’ve had every single one of them get loose on me and end up having to take apart the upper and dimple them. Now I just buy the upper parts from Aero and then order pinned gas block barrels direct from you.
Get some.
She is hilarious
I only use LocTite and or vibratite on screws, never anywhere else. I watched a video on UA-cam today where a guy was showing how to lap the upper receiver where the barrel extension seats and then he showed how to properly apply a gob of blue loctite to the barrel extension. I know for a fact that is absolutely incorrect. I just wanted to share that information.
Hey! That’s me!!!
I love my BA barrel!
Good stuff 👍
Yay for your great question! And so glad you love your barrel 😊 -Sarah @BA
Hey there, can you shoot me an e-mail to sarah@bamfg.com with your contact info? I would love to send you some patches!
Would you use blue locktite on the barrel extension and castle nut?
No, a properly tight castle nut won’t come loose, but you can stake it or get a ratcheted castle nut. Barrel extension needs an anti seize grease, not lock tite. Some people use red on the barrel, whatever makes them happy I guess.
Barrel nut doesn't need THAT much torque to stay on. 35-40 ft-lbs is fine, and that's with anti-seize. If your barrel nut needs timing to get the gas tube through, shim it till it's on with just 35-40.
Clint makes that thing look like a toy gun. Lol
Clint makes that gun look tiny lol
The coughing is so relevant now.
Thank you cough cough, lol
Oh BTW, rocksett is WAY better than red loctite for suppressor mounts
I don’t just say this, I have MANY personal experiences with that
Thanks for sharing your experience, that is helpful! -Sarah @BA
Ok who else thinks that she is adorable?
Beauty And the Beast
don’t use locktite on anything to do with ar. watch brownells channel for them to explain better
Clint is cool as a fuggin cucumberbun....upair...
They don't make pink, but they make purple loctite!
Ooooh, so good to know! 😉 -Sarah @BA
Hi I’m Sarah and this is Brock Lesnar
I called twice today and never heard back
DON'T USE LOCTITE AT ALL.
Don't use red Loctite anywhere on an AR-15. Period! The gas block is a serviceable component and does not need to have red Loctite on it. SMH...
I agree. Its not needed
Correct.
