DP should have gotten a bonus for a clean run. He was the only one that didn't knock any balls off accidentally. Great job DP!
Thank you and I agree
Definitely. Looks like @DirtPerfect was penalised for taking the time for doing the task correctly ...
I noticed where the blade on the mini ex was at the start was inconsistent (front vs back), probably should double check that for future competitions. Overall, fun competition and fun to watch! Go Dirt Perfect!
When you can take all the penalties to get ahead, the penalties are NOT SEVERE ENOUGH.
should have been 20 seconds per Ball .. But it was a lot of fun to watch with a few bugs to be worked out
Agreed. I don’t feel like I deserved second place on that.
@AndrewCamarata I didn't really know about your channel before this. I am a devoted fan and follower of DIRT PERFECT and Mike and Aaron. But after reading your comment, I immediately went to your channel and subscribed! I realize that with such a HUGE following, my subscription may not mean much, but with the attitude and philosophy you have just demonstrated, I can see how you have got to the level you have obtained.
@@Wolf-hd9ke thanks.
I agree that the penalty needs to be more. Mike Simon took about 13 seconds to knock down the balls. Just hitting the frame was really only a 2 second penalty over all.
Now that looks like a hoot.
You coming with me next time
@@DirtPerfect But you need to bring Captain Ford 555 with you and use it in the competition. That will really test the operators both in skills and how good they are at fixing hydraulic hoses on the fly. LOL
You need to bring the 555 there and have them use it. LOL You could get free repairs LOL
@@johnunsicker7440 they don't have a big enough budget to cover all the hoses that are going to blow. Or the tetanus shots from the floor. Lol
@@DirtPerfect I'd hate to embarrass you in front of that many people.
Looks like a heck of a good time!
This is awesome!
I'm going to need some NEL swag soon!
If the Balls are knocked down on the Tyre pass-through, resulting in penalties... the penalties should be doubled at that stage, or balls replaced to allow for the next skill challenge to actually be attempted.
My preference would be to keep the penalties consistent for any ball knock down and replace any knocked down on the tyre pass-through, so as to not give a free-pass to the next skill challenge.
Penalties need to be higher too if you ask me :)
Exactly... It was immediately apparent to me that the best strategy was to pass the tire through then just knock all the damn balls off in one hit. +15s was way faster than knocking them off individually.
You two sound so real in the commentary! Well done! 👏👏👍
That tire contraption "broke for no reason"
Needs to be stronger.
@@AndrewCamarataWhen I seen the tyre contraption, i said andrew will destroy that 😂
Great entertainment everyone, thanks 👍🏻
Thanks
hope you guys have fun and enjoy your time there . im anxiously waiting reviews of the dozer ! im looking for another machine !
Coming thanks
Idea for competition: Like DP does, fishing concrete blocks and building a wall with an excavator, backhoe, crane, ...
Really glad to see this kind of show. Encourage interest in real life industry. This is awesome
Thank you
Nice Job on starting a channel like this. I watched both episode 1 and 2 Mr. Digg did well For color and commentary. I can't wait to see how this develops as you guys move forward.
need a disqualification for knocking all four balls at one time. even if you are going for a ball. if you knock off three balls at one time a penalty of 20 seconds for each ball including the one you are going after. the talent of the competitors is amazing
They could be on separate cones instead. That way hitting one isn’t hitting all of them.
@@AndrewCamarata Shouldn't not even have the stupid ball thing. 5 second plenty grab the tire nock them all of in 5 seconds your ahead by 60 plus seconds.
Fun stuff guys
Came over from DP's podcast, first two episodes were fun! I think it would be awesome if they could extend a similar competition or league to younger generations. Maybe like an 8-16 year old circuit....I'd contribute for kids to participate! 👍😁
Thank you guys for keeping it real, cant wait to see the ladies come in and kick some butt, you guys make it look easy, very professional, come on next event.
There should definitely be bonus points for being the only clean run on the ball drops.
Agreed 😝
Great fun great video thanks
Great season so far I’m sure the rules will be adjusted but great base line . Next season a suggestion you guys should have young operators that are learning teamed up with a more experienced one .that way they can critique/help younger generation but also that’s there team mate for points. 👍
The ditch section was full of variables,it should be a definite size and depth and the finish should be a compacted surface .
Excellent competition, see if Bill Cunningham with Digginok would be interested.
I'm surprised letsdig18 didn't show up, he's probably giving y'all a chance. 😂
Ask him he was involved
Thanks for giving the opportunity for these people, so many of us watch, to goof off and have some fun.
I think you are going to need a new test besides the balls and tire track though, Mike Simon has won that competition a few times now and we are getting suspicious. I proffer something to you for that, maybe put a big ring up on top of a pole at max reach height for the excavator, give or take the bucket pointing down all the way and have them pick it off the pole and place it on an object near the ground. simulates removing tree branches. Or grabbing a post and having them set the post in a hole in the ground, maybe drive it in and closest to vertical or plumb to earth wins. simulating setting a super silt fence with hard backers.
I don't know, I have lots of ideas but sometimes they aint so good. ;)
This is awesome a great thing for you all to do 👍👋🇨🇦
The challenge is a great idea, and I hope it`s a success. DP, got screwed, because it became apparent that the penalties were worth taking, with the tire and tennis ball challenge, and just move on to the trench filling challenge.
Thanks 😬😆
Mr. Digg! woot woot
i like this
Awesome
There's only one BOSS 💪
lol
@@DirtPerfect He's talking big, guess he's gonna have to get out there for season 2 or whatever it is going to be called going forward to prove his BOSS skillz. LOL
Greetings from @DirtPerfect live stream! Subbed!
Me too
Thanks
I know as you weigh the points and penalties you’ll adjust accordingly
Great fun but the scoring is badly skewed towards taking the penalties and running through.
Agree with the penalty approach, they should be progressive or even if all four (in this case) were knocked off even up to DQ. Maybe even sequester each competitor so they all have to evaluate the job on their as opposed to learn from previous run.
Maybe when they knock the balls off instead of a five second penalty maybe they should shut off the engine in the tractor get out put the balls back on and then proceed with the task at hand. Just a thought that would be a fair penalty. Say it was a fence post they accidentally knocked over they would have to get out and fix that.
I think if only one person can make the course with no penalties there should be an insentive.
To be fair to all competitors, they should not be able to watch previous competitors and start forming their run.
Agreed on that 100%
Agreed!
What about instead of knocking down golf balls next time have an actual excavation challenge, maybe for example digging a 30x96" hole 17" deep at one endbwith a 5% grade to the other end with no measuring allowed and penalties for amounts out of spec?
Never tried before challenge: xxl tractor with a big scraper; like the big Fendt 1167, Case Quadtrack 715, Deere 9rx, ...
Penalties should be higher, say 20 secs for each infraction, or it is quicker to just destroy that part of the challenge since, to do it correctly takes longer than just knocking the balls off! Thant makes it a brain power event not an operator skills event. Having taken part in similar challenges whilst in the UK Army, and exploiting all the loopholes, I can spot these things🤯
I see where you are going and I agree although I think given the level of the competitors, if you go with that high of an infraction per ball, then the competitor will just quit. I think 5 or 10 seconds per ball is appropriate and can obviously be adjusted going forward to promote competition.
@@williamevans6468 If they quit then they are just big crybabies that really can't operate equipment. It took DP 30 seconds to go through the tire thing not including getting the tire setup right to do it smooth and the right way. So, someone can just grab the tire and go all fast and knock all the balls off in 5 seconds and still be ahead of someone that did it the right way. Bryan even with 15 seconds plenty did it in 19 seconds so right there shows you that the plenty are not high enough. Adding 26 seconds to his time to just equal DP time he would be 4 seconds slower than DP but his blade as also behind him where DP blade was in front.
there should be some bonus points for getting all four balls cleanly and there should definitely be a penalty for breaking the equipment
Agreed 😆
So, where’s Chris ?
He backed out
@@DirtPerfect heard YOU were coming…😁
The penalty’s need to be greater or it’s just a skipped step that take more than 20 seconds it’s kinda BS
Without Chris of LetsDig18... It's not really a contest of the best.
I understand what you are saying, but, this is not a one time thing they are doing. This is a long term, going to have seasons or whatever they call it. That means, that we will all see LetsDig18 in the future. There are millions of individuals they can bring into this competition over the long haul if they run it properly.
Guess you have not seen the last two competitions post with us did not go well for him 😝
Chris backed out and besides there a lot better operator out there then Chris or DP. DP admits he is good but not the best. You have guys like Jerry on DP channel that can drive circles around all of these guys just because he has 1000's of hours seat time on a dozer. Jerry's a great dozer operator but just ok on other equipment.
@@DirtPerfectChris is better at some things and you are better at these competition things ,both as qualified as each other ,maybe there are different focusing by each of you.
have to make time deductions higher...that gave other guys an edge just to knock off all the balls and move on
Personally you need to make each softball a 10 second penalty.
Second dude's trench was like half full...
need a longer time penalty to stop people just knocking them off for speed its skill we need to see
Taking so many safety shortcuts is not setting an example of skilled professionals for an industry. It does the opposite.
Event 3 is live! ua-cam.com/video/f5cP1lIq54A/v-deo.html
Instead of your penalties discouraging behaviors, they are being used to reward it. This can't be allowed to continue. Breaking equipment should be a disqualifier because the penalties are not effective.
I enjoyed this very much The only problem I see is in the future Is coming up with new scenarios In order to judge. I would have liked to have seen the seatbelt coming to play more than just being coupled on the seat behind the operators I realized you're short on time but safety is first And buckling the seatbelt should have been incorporated In the scenarios
Need to set things up better so it is fair for all. Not having someone say I need more dirt here or there. Look like some of the guys had plenty of dirt to fill the hole in and other didn't. Like you piled less dirt for some or bigger hole. Take the softball thing out that is ok for trade shows stuff but not for skill time stuff. You be better off having a box or that they need to fill and level off in the ground so they know when they have it full. Pushing the dirt need to say all the dirt need to go to x spot not anywhere. I know this is the first time doing and just offering you better way to make it far. You could knock all the softball off and be ahead 60 plus seconds and winner when someone did it the right way. Know it is hard to make it right but you got to make it equal for each person or you will have problems. Paint lines so each is stating at the same point as well. IF you want this to be like sport league got to make it equal all the way across. All the trick stuff with equipment need to not be done. The skill game DP did a few years back with the metal cut out would be better then the softball because you can't cheat to get ahead.
the penalties must be greater.the only one to do it clear comes in 4th.that cant happen.if you hit a house on the job site your paying for it ,same here.
It took Dp 30 seconds to do it clean and only 4 seconds for the other guy to do it so he was only at 19 seconds with penalties add another 10 to 20 seconds and he would be behind time DP.
Penalties points suck, this shows 4 of the five show there làck of finesse!!!!!! Cheating wins not a good look
