In Sparta, the _hippeis_ (singular _hippeus)_ referred to an elite group of heavy infantrymen who served as a royal guard; they apparently didn't ride horses, despite the fact that _hippeus_ means "horseman." (Maybe the term, similar to the Roman _equites,_ evolved beyond its military roots to refer to a class?)
@@micahbush5397 Hippeus are in some way are all Horsemen/horse owning soldiers, however Spartan and some other Greek Hippeus would prefer to fight dismounted. I am not convinced by the name of the unit, although the Hippeus were part of the Royal Guard, it was for a short time, since later they served the cavalry and it was in this last category that they were remembered, Hippeus is associated with Greek cavalry. On the other hand, the name of this unit could have been Royal Guard and it would have been much more accurate. In addition, I feel that the unit lacks a bit of power, perhaps in damage or melee defense.

Hippeus: Spartans! Attack!
Cataphracts: We’re also Spartans, pleb!

Maybe need some small buff in their dps…..but nice unit 🎉🎉
Honestly seems weak yep

Hippies. 🗿
So, basically a Ghulam without the anti-Archer attack bonus but slower and with a higher attack and melee armor?
not really, more like a champion with very high hp and pierce armor.
@TheBikeOnTheMoon they have a plus attack for trash?
The Hippeus vs Slingers was just terrible. They were walking around receiving stones instead of attacking.
Honestly was expecting a lot more from a unique infantry unit of the Spartans. Does this civ have another unique unit?
Fully upgraded Polemarch+Elite Hoplite combo
Always knew we should have stuck with bronze weapons.
Bro pathing is very bad in these new units....
Yeah, watching then walk back and them all the way around behind the enemy before engaging was rough.....
so sparta can be played in aoe2? or is it just a video for fun?

Tarkans have a weaker attack and worse rate of fire.

The Spartan Hippeus was the Kings Guard and fought on foot
