Here is my completed Department 56 and some Lemax accessories Halloween Village. I piped some fog nozzles to strategic locations to add a spooky low lying fog effect. I used a mini cosplay fog machine loaded with Swamp Juice brand fog liquid to achieve this awesome effect.
    Enjoy!

have you considered making a tutorial on how to do this... i know I would love to see it :)

    1. Buildings "grounded" and fully integrated into the scene so that you don't see their bases. 🏚
    2. Static, lit buildings with no clunky animation or annoying music or soundtracks. 🕷
    3. No people figures! 💀
    4. Beautifully and completely landscaped. ⚰️
    5. A coherent and consistent theme that simply tells the story of a quiet little town that loves Halloween. 👀
    6. Amazing lighting and effects! 👻
Finally, someone on UA-cam who does Halloween villaging right. Great work!!! 🎃

I love this because it has an actual town/village feel to it. I decided I wanted to get into Halloween villages this year. I've been looking for inspiration. I have seen a lot of the Halloween villages where it seems to be more about collecting as many pieces as possible and not about creating an actual village. To each their own I guess lol. Your display is what I want my display to aspire to. Fantastic job.

I saw a cool tutorial on taking Christmas village houses and spray painting them black, then touching up with additional paint to create the spooky haunted house effect. I may have to try it

You're absolutely right! One only needs so many villages. Over the past few years I've been focusing less on buying villages and focusing more on accessories like trees, fences, spotlights, sidewalks and that sort of thing but more importantly than anything, figures! And I don't mean Lemax figures because they're not the proper scale. They're way too big. I like your thinking. I wish I could show you pictures of the way I did my mini Halloween town.

The thing I like best is that it's not cluttered with hundreds of figures and accessories, like so many are.

I agree with everyone's comments. This is just an amazing village. Tactfully done without overdoing it. Just the right amount pieces to make this look like an authentic town fit for filming a movie. I wanna be there now. And that fog, WOW!

I liked your villiage. I loved the fog! That was cool.
Your villiage was "consistent". It felt as though it was a real villiage, not just a bunch of buildings thrown together. Liked the train tracks and the stone wall.

I've lost count of how many times I've watched this video--your town is amazing, even without the fog effect, but of course the fog is really cool. You've given me a lot of inspiration--e.g. the stones around the cemetery. I also love how you've made the hill, used grass for the cemetery, and the general setup overall. Really eerie. Thank you for posting!

This is epic!!! You should get a small camera and "walk" it along the streets, and make a longer, ambient video with some spooky sound effects. Wonderful job!

does the moisture from the fog damage the foam board/paint/houses/wiring? I would think prolonged use of the fogger may do damage to the pieces paintwork or wiring/electronics etc.

    • @fargusdetailedmodeling
      @fargusdetailedmodeling  4 роки тому

No damage yet. I am expecting some residue to form around the fog nozzles though. This is normal with most fog units. I will keep an eye out for moisture damage.

@@calypsoshoard9132 Here is the website where I purchased the mini fog unit (www.spoonmakes.com/cosclouds-overview/).
      Purchase list
      -Starter kit (wireless)
      -(2) packs of extra tubing
      -(1) 2"fog tip
      -(1) 1" fog tip
      -(1) 2" inline mister
      -(1) 1to3 straight line splitter
-(1) Pack of zip tie mounts
I use "swamp juice" brand of fog liquid
www.scenicexpress.com (ground covering, tree's, bushes, weeds and cornstocks)
The fog unit itself is located under the display. I ran the tubing from the unit into the 3 way splitter. I then ran tubing from the splitter into each of the fog tips. The 2" tip is located behind the billboard. The 1" tip is under the coffin in the open grave. The 2" in-line mister is located behind the train station. Building the display on a base of 2" foam allows me to easily cut holes to accommodate the fog tips as well as drilling holes for the tubing and hiding wires for the street lights ect. You can also carve into it to make ditches or streams or to make the landscape flow in a certain way.
At this time I am not set up to build custom pieces. If you are interested in building one yourself I would recommend watching model railroad landscape how-to videos. They are a great way to learn many techniques on creating a realistic landscape. I used the knowledge and skillz of my many years of model railroading to create this static display.
      I hope this helps!

@@fargusdetailedmodeling TY. Sorry to hear that you do not make these for sale...yet. I LOVE how yours has some "urban planning" too it. Almost as if it tells a story. Unlike most Lemax or Dept 56 displays that seem to be square plots of moss'd foam-board, stacked unnaturally, sometimes w/stones pressed on edges and crudely done stairs, yours has hills (no sharp drop-off platforms), varying plant-life and it blends well through each scene! I mean I may go the foam-board route for now (as I lack the skill to do this) but ultimately yours has a believable existence with the street looking so good, lights, etc. I want that eventually. The fog effect is killer but really the icing on the cake for an already impressive layout! Well done! I dont have the space for something this size...but would love a fogger and some lighting worked into it. A large cemetery (I have a few of those larger pieces like gothic ruins and the lost souls cathedral) adjacent to a mausoleum leading into a wax museum which is in a more residential area along with a haunted house! (Gothic mansion)
