My second favorite theme, I like to use the graveyard pieces as my transition from the “human” Trick or Treat area and the monster city. The serious more realistic pieces up against the human side and then getting into the more fantasy pieces up against the monster side.
I just got into the graveyard theme last year and its been so fun exploring the backlog of old pieces. Im super stoked that I got my hands on a forgotten souls cathedral. Gothic ruins looks so cool too.
Recently added the ghostbusters figurines from dept 56 to my Graveyard along with the Addams family. Thought some familiar faces sprinkled throughout the cemetery grounds made for a nice fun factor for my kids to seek out.
Awesome coverage of my favorite theme, Doug! I rotate all my other groups each year but always have a graveyard. I had gotten the Gothic Ruins for my second piece when it was new, and it is still my favorite of all of them. And I had gotten the Hillside and RIP Mausoleums back then, and yes, they both have problems. 😒 But I always greet trick-or-treaters into my graveyard with the Cemetery Tours piece, I just like how it sets the scene. Thanks again!
I got an ok shape gothic ruins for $10 and I’m super happy with it I’d love to get one in perfect shape one day the lighting and vibe is so incredible. My unicorn is Forgotten souls cathedral
Your spot on Doug. I have some of those. I have done so many themes I had to break them up when I made my platforms ..LOL ..I guess I'm one if those crazed halloween freaks when it comes to my villages. I literally have to move my furniture to put them all up but hey you only live once
OMGI love this a disco graveyard.😂😂 It scary in a sweet way. I have 2 ghosts that are magnetized to a mirror on a castle that dance to a song like a music Box song that I had for decades that I believe there are late eighties I got it or early nineties and I love this with the disco ball and the ghouls coming out from behind tombstone. They are all so awesome they should have a ghost at walking the road you know we have all those stories about a haunted road and a ghost walking the road would be awesome by the graveyard. If I was rich I own all that in your backgrounds.❤❤❤❤
I like this video. I love my village. I know I am not the norm, but due to state of economy, and me being severely disabled, my forced retirement budget no longer supports the pieces at the cost they are now. Villages on a budget are a splurge now. Great video with options in budget. Thanks
Good suggestions, Doug! It took me a while to acquire a Graveyard Scene. They don’t come up for sale very often and can be a bit pricey. Mine needs a bit of gluing too, but at least the sounds and lights work. It has a great soundtrack. One piece you didn’t mention that I use is the Department 56 Haunted Cemetery Shed. It is retired but not terribly long ago.
Doug once again great work. You should do a couple of these videos on how to blend in different themes making a transition from one to another. Also talk about themes that don’t get a lot of attention aka Wild West mummies. Also can you please reach out to lemax to see if they are going todo t he you name it we build it contest I’ve reached out to lemax numerous times no response not sure why. One last thing it would be cool if lemax got into the aviation theme like planes and old airplane hangers and stuff like that maybe add a twist and dove into world history would be cool to see things like colonial theme or even Ancient Greek times
Great recommendations! That gothic graveyard would look good near Castle Calvaria. I had fun building my own graveyard, with moss & trees, fallen tombstones, broken gates, a stone wall (which I glued together, stone by stone) that's falling down... I set it close to my D56 Cemetery House; that house works well b/c there are tombstones, a reaper with a lantern, and not much light. To me, the less fuss, the eerier the scene.
Spooky Villages, Yeah, I love the Rest In Pieces Mausoleum, but I hate that I can't put it in a plug strip and turn it on with the rest of my pieces. This is one I have to turn on and shut down properly with the rolling controller. Not a huge deal, but I'm glad I don't have many Lemax pieces that require that. Graveyard Party... YES! This is one I got from your recommendations! I'm not a zombies guy, but man is that one a treat! vgv
I'm a 30 Army retiree and I've always loved your Christmas Village and Spooky Town displays. I'm new to this since I moved every 2 to 3 years while serving. I have a vision of Christmas Village meets Spooky Town. I've never seen a display with both competing holidays on the same display. I have quite a few Christmas Village displays and just began with Spooky Town. Looking at having train sets on both, one runs, meets at a middle display probably mountain, then the other begins. Needing help though.
Rest in pieces mausoleum i have one if you want it the only things the coffin door on the left was broken i try replace the spring but it need to have the whole part other then being loud it work fine let me know ! it was used i got it a trade 2 yys i didn't use it last year to room with coaster etc let me know i can get you some video, picture
Any advice for 1/265, 1/285, 6mm, and Z Scale? I want to make a graveyard and other buildings and places to use as tabletop terrain for Battletech and 6mm tabletop wargaming.

In my graveyard theme, the buildings are Forgotten Souls Cathedral, Graveside Diner, Ghostly Manor, and Creepy Neighbor’s House 😂
I LOVE graveyard themes. Loved the Lighted GOTHIC RUINS, but saw it was retired so very expensive. Keep it coming!
Dead are Rising from 2010 is one of my favorites- reminds me of Haunted Mansion with the pop up ghosts.

The Forsaken Cemetery Gate (2004) is a wonderful graveyard centerpiece. They’re readily available and low priced.
I got one and absolutely love it!

Gothic ruins!!! The lighting and details on this piece is 13/10!!! My personal favorite non-carnival ride piece!
Another good video! I'm already waiting for the next one. :)

Hey Josh I do plan to do one of the lesser known themed videos soon here!

Doug you forgot Crypt of the Lost Pumpkin Souls!
I actually don't really count that one as a Graveyard piece personally so I didn't really even think of that. You are correct though!

Thanks for your service! Would love to see your display when you finish it! Sorry but with trains I'm not very knowledgable!
You know you have a problem when you watch a video and go "oh, I have all those pieces except for one (the graveyard sentry). Lol.
an excellent problem to have!
If there is so little available, you may as well change to gaming scales. There is very little that cannot be found in the 28-32mm range.
Might be a theme I go to tbh
