    I watched the video to have an idea of how this nasal rinse works. I just did it to my 1 year old and it was soo good. I know the baby didn’t enjoy it but after that he felt soo much better, he’s breathing through his nose, he’s smiling and everything! ❤

    At first my kid cry like she was abused, but later on she realizes it helps her to breath more esp during cold or allergy season. Now I dont have to hold her, she would give me her nose, she’s 3 :) . We both have allergies, so this helps a lot.

    My 5 month old has Covid and a sinus infection. He’s getting better but still clogged. Tomorrow we are doing this. He will feel better. Can’t wait to help him. I have been blowing the snot out of his nose through his mouth and it works, but only for some of his snot. This will be a life saver. I didn’t know I could use the bottle. I ordered nasal syringes. Hope it works the same.

      Correct. i'd then just use a simple saline nose spray. Or drip some saline water in the nose with a pipette or something. You can also buy a little syringe instead of these big bottles. with older babies and little kids, you'd only need a bit of water.

    • @teachmedoc
      @teachmedoc  Рік тому +5

      I used the regular one but either is ok. (For babies/kids you only need to rinse each nostril one time. You dont need to use the entire bottle). The key is making sure that the packet you use goes with the bottle so that the solution is not too watery or too concentrated.

      I have been there! It IS complete torture. To everyone. BUT it is not more torture than a nose freida and it works very very well (better IMO). As they get older they realize how it makes them feel better and it wont be torture anymore. Reassure and give lots of hugs and kisses.

      Kids in the 3-5 year old range, that have never had it done, are the hardest because they have to cooperate since they can't be held down. They either cooperate or they don't. Sorry to hear yours was so traumatized. Maybe when she is a little older.

    What's the water to salt ratio?

    • @teachmedoc
      @teachmedoc  Рік тому

      There is a way you can make it yourself but it involves a lot more than just salt and IMO harder to get the mixture just right so that it doesn't hurt.
      Its best to use the packets made for sinus rinses for those reasons (doesn't have to be Neil Med, but do have to be for the correct bottle size, in this case 8 ounces). If buying the packets isn't an option, then I would google how to make your own.

    Moms & Dads, it is cruel to blast that Neil bottle into a tiny nostril. That's too much water, too much force without knowing if it burns ( yes it can) or is going into the mouth (which happens) My daughter uses a syringe, holding the child gently. And you should not put that plastic bottle in the microwave, contrary to the Neil people.
