Great video. Just started running this year and won´t even think about doing a marathon before next year but when I do it, I will try to be prepared well with which this and other videos will help. About reasonable race goals: will run a half marathon this fall and am thinking about which time to aim for - some days ago I hit 1:48:48 on the HM time during a " community trail run" with 400m elevation gain. maybe I try to aim for 1:39:xx on the flat course - I will do pace trial workouts before.
@@DaveTheRunner Oooh, how do I explain ot to someone like you...the title was a little misleading - I thought it might be a helpful video to avoid issues when training for ones first marathon, but hearing that you not only finished it, but in a time some of us would never achieve, confirmed that it wasn't the case (and that it was probably another 'look how great I am video)
@@nataliekeller Dave works on his fitness and has high standards for his races.. doesn't mean it's un-relatable for people, maybe for you by the sounds but for many trying to break 3hrs etc it's a great video.. you sound like you are someone who likes to complain tbh!

Interesting assumption :) I’d say the video is more aimed at Raceday mistakes rather than training.
