I am immensely grateful that my true appreciation for whisk(e)y came from you and Rex. And perhaps the best thing you ever taught me was how to share this appreciation with my friends. Thank you!
Thank you for the video and your story. There’s arrogant people with big egos in a lot of teaching roles like you mentioned with wine and whisky, I’ve experienced that in aviation. In my experience though, the teacher can have a profound impact on a student but mainly in terms of enjoyment, passion and happiness which can make the student enjoy the profession more and stick around in it a lot longer maybe more so than the actual theory of teaching better than another teacher. Just my 2 cents thrown in there but what would make me choose your school over another isn’t necessarily better teaching, maybe that’s similar but I think your passion is infectious and I’d enjoy the course more with you guys and i think that’s an often overlooked reason in choosing a school. Still on the bucket list but for the moment I still can’t find the time. Wishing you and the school all the best for 2024!
Thanks for being such a good and graceful whiskey shepherd, Daniel. You're a natural teacher that, before the internet, few were lucky enough to experience. Thankfully, those who seek out the good can find you, as I hope many more do.
Prost and I am happy and thankful that you are still around and doing this THANG called whisky even if I can't often find what you are tasting in the PNW area :P
The amazing people from the school I have met over the years is mind blowing. So many not only talented but also generous with knowledge and time to help others in the community is astounding. Truly one of the greatest programs I have ever had the honor of learning from. What so many of them have accomplished so far in only 8 years is unbelievable. Cheers
Hey Daniel, just wanted to tell you that I am absolutely loving the new format. You are a great storyteller. I also liked the old format with Rex but you really took this chance and flew with it. I can't wait for more episodes to drop bc I already binged through all the current "new" ones.
While I don't drink, its just pain for my joints and body, I love listening to you. I am pretty sure you could tell a story about paint drying and it would be the fastest 15 mins ever.
Thank you again Daniel. Not only for the review (on a bottle that I can actually find) but also on you continuing to stay true to your calling and help shepherd others. 👊
Inspiring to get some insight into the roots, concepts, and outcomes of the Whisky Academy. I hope you will introduce us to those in the community who are creating change and embodying the generosity of spirit you describe. You got a nice vibe going here. I am in.
I started drinking whiskey because I liked watching fraiser and liked=d when they would express knowledge on wine, but I don't like wine and I wanted to do that so I said why not whiskey then I found this channel. Now I can pick out notes on the nose and the taste and love exploring whiskey. All thanks to the help from you and Rex
I had to go back and watch the video because for the life of me, I couldn't figure it out what are you guys were talking about with a boom mic. Turns out it's not a boom mic because I was actually using a lapel. It's the back of the miniature spotlight that shining a light in the corner of that bookshelf.
I could watch you all day. Could I ask, is there a tip for people who can't get past the "alcohol" taste of whiskey? My friend can't seem to enjoy it no matter how much water I add. Have 2 Irish, 2 Bourbon and 2 Scotch open with him tonight and all i got from him = Warm, Spice and alcohol...
Yes, Hungarian oak being a different type of oak than usual, it is also from a volcanic area with that type of soil which apparently adds a different flavour. They source the barrels from North East Hungary from Kádár Cooperage if I am not mistaken
Another great conversation. You have a great story and I hope to someday meet you in person and take your Whiskey course. Until then, I may just get Bona Fide
Very interested in the Tour of Scotland you mentioned. Any chance you have a stand alone event for those unable to participate in the full course?? Thanks. Continue to enjoy this new format and content.
We have a "Method & Madness" division at my company, buy we call it FIT (Foresight, Innovation, and Technology). We're an engineering and architecture firm, and I am in charge of helping us find new technologies and processes that can help us add value in some way. We have an internal grant program, so anyone in the company can explore new technologies and run pilot projects to see if it's something the company can benefit from. I joke that I get to play with new toys all the time 😉
Thank you Daniel! Ok, so after a number of these videos…you need to do something about your loud shoes. How do you expect to sneak up on anyone with those loud shoes?
I've always been mildly curious about the Whiskey Somm program but based on your goals, I would be just another guru perhaps. A nerd in search of knowledge is perhaps more accurate, I enjoy amassing knowledge and the tools it provides but often find myself doing this only to forward my own learning. As you say, Daniel, I guess I don't REALLY really like whiskey.
Is there somewhere online I can look more into independent bottling? I’m wanting to possibly explore this side of whiskey making/marketing. If you happen to see this and answer, thank you very much. I really appreciate your insight. Have a great day.

Daniel any chance you can start sharing some of the successes from the Whiskey Academy alumni? Hearing their stories at some point would also be cool.

You are definitely infectious with positivity

I would be lying if I said I don't miss the old format. I do like the new format too though. Keep up the good work.
One of the best videos !! Thank you for this !
Love your enthusiasm. Love the analysis of teaching and consulting. It applies to all efforts not just whiskey.

Always appreciate your storytelling, Daniel! Pumped to one day attend the som school.
Another great story. Nice to see someone who saw a need and got support to say go fill it. Excellent example for others!
That was a very won't you be my neighbor ending 😂
It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood
@@WhiskeyVaultIt is cooler weather. Time to throw on a sweater 😂.

good morning you MB'S.. cheers 2024
Welcome all Whiskey Vaulters to Story Time with Daniel!
Great story telling, Daniel. So good in fact that I didn’t notice the boom mic in the shot until the last 3 minutes 😂.

Haven't seen it sadly. It would be fun to try it out. Great video as always. And Happy New Year 🎊
Good video 🥃

We do offer short tours in the vault by request. It's usually with one of our somms available depending on the schedule.
Another great video!
I might order some whisky later this month, as ralfy stuff whould say it,s not some much the strength of the alcohol but what drinking means to you.
It has been a pleaser to be inside those hallowed halls and can’t wait to see what the future hold for us all.
Wonderful video and channel

Too true. Must invest in slippers
Great video! Question Were you guys in Vegas early November? I could swear I saw you guys at the Mirage...
Nope!
Dude you lived in SLO when I was there for College?!?!

AmericanIndy.com is the site we created to explain what we think it is. As far as how to legally start doing it, that's just a distillers license.
Thank you very much. I appreciate it.

The beer glass is holding the wands because science
