I can't speak for anyone else but Jimmy'Page moves me like nobody else can when he solos. Nobody can convey human emotion with a guitar like him. He is in a league of his own when it comes to composing meaningful guitar music. Plenty of guys can play more cleanly or faster , with more technique , but none of them can touch Page for melody and phrasing.He says more in a few notes than any shredder could say in a flurry of arpeggios and whammy dives. . And at the end of the day thats the most important thing.
Make it sing, make it cry..the guitar solo for Ten Years Gone, to me..Is one of thee ultimate examples of that..to me, thee best guitar solos aren’t the fastest, or based solely on the guitar expertise..but they PERFECTLY match the song’s message, tempo, singing, and most importantly..the emotion of the particular song..and in my opinion, no one ever was better than Jimmy Page in doing that time after time, and song after song..well done my friend!!
I can listen to this song, over and over. It never gets old. You did an excellent job playing this song. Your Telecaster, fits this song. Thinking I may set a goal and buy one. I haven't play this song in 20 yrs now. Going to make a point to learn it again. Thanks for the inspiration. Many thanks.
You're not kidding. I think its like language, you could know english inside and out, be well read, have an extensive vocabulary, but never be able put the words together in an order that composes them into an outstanding poem. Page was able compose beautiful musical "structures" made from rich harmonies, melodies, and incredibly melodic solos and lick phrases, not just a few, but a whole catalog worth. I even find that the songs they considered "cast offs" such are found on Coda, while not on a level with their other albums, are interesting in their own right because of Pages playing.

Obviously he draws from influences but he utilizes all his influences to make a sound that's very recognizable, no matter which style he is playing. He definitely doesn't think like most rock and roll guitarists
