- This time we have a sealed box of 82 Topps wax packs to bust. We have been wanting to pull a fresh Ripken Jr. for the collection. There are other hits like the Lee Smith rookie and various Hall of Famers.

I don't know if someone told you or not, but the black mark on the box were sold back to the company. They put the black mark on the box because they do not buy back a second time. Depending on the year and how rare you can get anywhere from $10 - $4000 for an empty box without a black mark.
Just going to say same. These are returns on overstock. Most junk wax era stuff has lots out there with marks.
This box is 100% legit the baseball card kid, he wrote two unopened pack price guides, both explaining how to check out wax packs for authenticity . The x on the top of the box means the box was returned to topps by the candy distributor as it didn’t sell. Topps would then put an x on these boxes, put them back in cases and resell them. For those that don’t know topps has a horrible distribution in their boxes which means lots of doubles and even triples. There are thus many boxes which have 2 and even 3 ripkens. 1986 fleer basketball had the opposite type of distribution which is approximately 3 cards from every box. The price guide was written to educate collectors as these fine gentleman do not know much yet about unopened. Overall. They did well since Topps distribution is pot luck basically. And the cards over all were very nice condition, many possible psa 10 gem mint. The Henderson or Ryan in I psa 10 are 400-500 each and I believe they got doubles on those along with many other cards if graded a 10 would be 100-300 each and the lee smith is 800 fyi. The set has 792 cards guys. Also I saw some comments saying the cards flipped like this is impossible. Guys. Topps did not have quality control in the 1980s or 90s. They probably bought this box for 200 or less. Today’s they are 600+. It’s interesting to hear the comments as they open the packs. They didn’t get a Ripken but did get many many stars and hall of Famers which is graded as a psa 10 would put them into the black so they could have made out decently. Unopened today’s is very high. People are selling these at 30 per pack which is 1080. I enjoyed your video. Get a price guide so you know what you are doing for a better experience and most importantly you will know you are opening a legitimate box which this was 100%
Terry Francona future HOF manager has his RC in this. All these sell for high dollar in a PSA 10 grade if you get lucky enough. He is on the Expos trio card.
I think your box was resealed. I saw a sealed case opened, and a box broken, and the "Wax" side of the pack was always showing the back of the card. (wax stain on the green side). The sticker was the dividing line between the cards facing down and the cards facing up.

Yeah Jay, this was a rough box but at least we got the Ryan cards like you said.
I recently opened a box of 1989 Upper Deck and the number of doubles I got was insane. Of course, no doubles of anyone decent.
81 Fleer is Graig Nettles error that set is Packed with errors there is a Vukovitch error in there too y'all seem to like him Very fun rip the boxes you guys bust are unbelievable Thanks for sharing!!!!
Ah yeah, I can never remember that. We have busted some of that too and I still can't remember it. Hopefully I will now. Holy cow. Just looked it up an there are like 60 error/variants in 81 Fleer. Crazy.

Vintage Cards Treasures coming this week when I get time to post them. The 2019 box was actually a good one. Sorry about it being hard to see the cards. Need to get better at filming for sure. Ripken in background isn't the best so we were hoping to pull a nicer pack fresh one. It might have jinxed us. Stay tuned....

I agree but it could be argued otherwise. Bird had much better supporting staff. Ryan having all time strikeout lead and 7 no hitters are pretty good talking points..
hey man im loving your channel. just randomly found it the other day ... and each day im watching a few videos ...all of the early to mid 80's box breaks! are you selling any of the cards? I collect rickey Hendersons and was wondering if you would sell any of them? im just interested in only buying the rickey Hendersons ... I cant trust ebay sellers because the condition is always not good. they'll lie and say cards are pack fresh or mint when in reality theyve been sitting in a shoe box un protected in a hot attic for 30 years and theyre soft, with bad surfaces/corners. but being that im watching you open the boxes and theyre recent I could have more trust knowing theyre truly "pack fresh" ... let me know! thanks
We aren't really selling any cards yet. Will probably start ebay or something soon when our cards start getting back from grading.

@@COGSportsCards I was thinking that you have been breaking some expensive boxes. You should allow viewers to get in the action. If some chipped in and bought a percentage of a box, you guys wouldn’t have to spend as much. Could be exciting. Definitely interactive!
@@marman51212 Yeah marman, we have been thinking about trying a couple ways to include the subscribers more in the show and cards. We also want to try to stay a bit different than all the other channels that have buy ins for breaks. I don't think the right idea has hit us yet. Appreciate the comments!!!

@@COGSportsCardsAlso a single line is also common on the box top as well as the X out or line out they call em. And 1982 was not sealed by Topps, someone did that after the fact, it wasn't till 1993 Topps that they started wrapping boxes with the blue Topps logo we still see today. The Nolan was a beauty! Nice rip.
