What I don't understand is why they couldn't eventually bring the ships into bombardment range. At a certain point the Krieg assault core had complete control of the anti-air defenses across all of vraks which should have been able to stop the chaos factions from landing

@@LecherousCthulhuthey never had control of the anti-orbital laser silos, most of which are part of the citadel and its surrounding complex, they'd be sitting ducks during orbital bombardment, not to mention the goal of the campaign was to recapture the stockpiles of supplies and vehicles on Vraks not to blow them up from orbit

I am absolutely a fan of how the titans are noted with their own animated models. Really shows how much more power they represent compared to the standardized rectangle notations of mechanized and infantry companies.
@@thypeasantslayer3621 also because it just on entity so make sense to have a detail model for 1 unit than 10000
The titans get their own model since it's a 1:1 scale compared to the map unlike the blocks which represent hundreds of soilders at once
I never knew just how much I needed to see orbital bombardment portrayed in a history marche style documentary but now I don't know how I've been able to live so long without it.

I just rewatched the entire series two hours ago. The Emperor has truly blessed me on this day
Having read through the series and watched Arch's videos, I already knew what was going to happen. But that cliffhanger with the Titans slowly lumbering towards the Death Korps lines, and the suicidal charge to TRY and slow them down was perfect! Excellent job, Janovich!

Lord Commander Zuehlke was indeed a perfect man for a job. He had ensured a steady supply of ammunition and men and left Deathcore to do what they do best. When Deathcore of Krieg had failed, he had raise up to the challenge and exercised his leadership to achieve what even most venerated army in the Imperium could not. Truly a great commander on Imperium's side!
Imagine being so incapable as a commander that you make the motherf*cking Death Korps of Krieg complain about their losses!

@@lorenzocassaro3054 To be honest, as fanatical as the deathkorps are, a lot of fans (and authors to be fair) don't seem to understand just how soul crushing a war of this magnitude would be. This shit makes WW1 look like a joke, where even highly defended and strategically vital fortresses that dwarf the greatest constructed on earth are so utterly unnotable as to be given names like A-453. At the end of the day, kriegers are still humans, and prolonged trench warfare seen on the impossible to comprehend scale of a full planetary siege would wear down on anyone psychologically. Engagements of just a few hours are beyond exhausting as well, and while the big push was arguably necessary to finally breach the second line within any timeframe that wasn't literal centuries long, a full week of being under near-constant fire would break anything short of a super-human astartes- if that. So while I do think Zuehlke wasn't the absolute worst commander for the job, he still severely overestimated the capabilities of his forces and rode them to the brink of a full-scale revolt to try and hold to an impossible timeframe.

Just found this gem of a channel , much more engaging then the usual 40k lore videos consisting of narration over static pictures.

One of the things i love about old 40k lore was these types of detailed battle lines and how they turned out it feels like modern 40k doesnt have things like vraks anymore
I mean… how do you write another Vraks or Helsreach without sounding boring/derivative?? Can it be done? Yeah, but you first lol

I understand these take a ton of time. Amongst the plethora of quality 40k content, your visually animated battle reports stand out as unique, so I'm more than happy to wait. Don't be afraid to slow down and take a break if needed.
i really enjoy the animated videos, especially how you show troop movements during certain battles or actions. It clarifies it a whole lot and shows the scale of things in a superb manner. Keep up the cool videos my man!

You pull so much out of this single siege. Admittedly it's a long and well documented one but still. Your creativity comes a long way.
Also, going with the meme that Kriegians speak German the Lord Commanders name would be like a hard "Tsühlke" with a long "ü". Sounds very Prussian^^

4km-wide front?. Sheesh that's quite a distance to cover and assault JUST to meet the enemies defensive entrenchment.
Kowabunga it is. My sides have just went into orbit just like a guardsmen hit by a titan weapon.
I mean ZUEHLKE can only do so much. He’s fighting an up hill battle and it just keeps getting steeper. Where’s the Emperors chosen blue angels at oh that’s right they got spanked and fled. Give the guy a break and some assistance.
I always feel a little sorry for Zuehlke, he might not have been a great commander, but he only had baseline humans forces and he had to try and fight the Alpha legion plus the rebel forces. Even the human forces were limited compared to those his replacements could use and the intel used to give him the timetable was useless.
Also how was it his fault the imperial forces let the Traitor forces get to the system, or that the Navy messed up the engagement 😂.
my biggest question is why they didnt just immediately orbital strike the citadel immediately, they said the lasgun anti air were the biggest reason they couldnt do that in first place and its scattered all over place, but now the vraksian literally only hold small area in the middle, im pretty sure even the void shield in citadel couldnt really last long againts constant barrage of artillery from kriegsmen too.
If I remember correctly, the citadel shield held for _Weeks/Months_ before it started flickering, which would be plenty of time to seriously threaten a ship in low bombardment-orbit.
@@adiutrixpiafidelis The lack of bombardment of the outer-works or hab-zones made no sense to me. The lack of bombardment of the citadel was silly in my mind, but was stated at the very beginning, the citadel contains a holy site of the Echlessiarchy, who refuse to allow bombardment to destroy it. The fact that traitors would invariably ruin it themselves if left in their hands for too long anyways seems to have been ignored.
Basically, politics stopped the bombardment of the citadel, but the sheer number of anti-ship laser sites around the citadel seem to have kept the outer-works reasonably guarded from space as well.

thats hilarious, Captain fodor managed to basically give the chaos marines the slip and dodge the orbital bombardment and the skulltakers by just moving up and taking mortuary ridge.
