    Hey Sebs, I really enjoy your channel. I think it's great that you put an early top 10 list together. I also think that as you listen to more country music, the list will change some over time. On a different note, because you are such a "daughter's father," you need to listen to Alan Jackson's "Drive." He has 3 daughters, I think. But the video should make you reflect on your daughter's and mean even more as they grow up and share your memories.

    "Lady" by Kenny Rogers was actually written by Lionel Ritchie.

    • @rmccugh61
      @rmccugh61 2 місяці тому

      "Lady" was indeed written by Lionel Ritchie but it was specifically written for Kenny Rogers. If I remember correctly, The Commodores either had already disbanded or they were about to. Lionel had decided to seek a solo career and Kenny was one of if not the first to accept him into whatever genre he wanted to pursue. He actually asked Lionel to write a song for him. "Lady" is that song. The Commodores already had a big hit with a song, "Three Times a Lady" and it had crossed over from the pop genre to the country genre, which at that time was extremely rare. Country songs did then, and still do, cross over much more often.

    Sebs, it’s been so fun watching you become a country convert! I think anybody that thinks they don’t like country music just hasn’t really listened to it. For all the reasons you’ve mentioned, it’s music that speaks to almost anyone. And your advice to remain curious not judgmental is a great lesson for any area of our lives, not just music. I think if we would all heed that advice, we would understand more about each other rather than focusing on things that divide or make us different.
    I’m another Utah transplant, but consider Utah my home too because I’ve been here longer than where I was born. Love to see you guys are from Salt Lake, so am I. Maybe I’ll run into you sometime!

He has actually started acting again. Perseverance, endurance, and love of family,.. it’s amazing.

    You should see the video of Kenny Rogers and Lionel Richie talking about the making of "Lady"! Back in the '70's when Kenny was BIG, he called up Lionel who was writing for everyone and himself and the Commodores as well and Kenny said he wanted to collaborate. Lionel said "Nah, I don't think so!" and then Kenny said something like "I think this could sell like 8 or 9 million records" and Lionel's response was "See you on Friday!" They told that story on a few tribute to Kenny shows and I find it hilarious! Then ended up being friends for nearly 50 years.

Then there is Buck Owens, Dwight Yoakam, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Marty Robins, Martina McBride, Patsy Cline, Reba McIntire, Bob Wills & the Texas Playboys, Brooks & Dunn. Since you like Trace Adkins, please, PLEASE react to his song "Muddy Water". I've checked for YEARS (the last time I looked was 2 days ago), and still LITERALLY NO ONE has ever reacted to this song. I love that song a lot more than the overplayed "You're Gonna Miss This". Don't get me wrong, it's a great song, but the radio ruined it for me.

    I heard country music when I was a young boy 👦. My older relatives and older neighbors listened to classic country in the 1930s to 1950s when they were young.

    Other singers: the late Glen Campbell, Pat Green, Phil Vassar, Shania Twain 🇨🇦, Faith Hill, Sara Evans, Tammy Wynette, Crystal Gayle, Deborah Allen, Alabama, Little River Band (only the members from Australia 🇦🇺), Martina McBride, Dolly Parton.

    You comment about not knowing how to do anything 'survival like' made me laugh. It also gave me an idea. The Boy scouts of America, now have girls in it too. My niece is a scout & has learned some cool survival things while camping. That could be something you & your girls could do together when they get older.

    As you said this is your list and I respect that. It is also a generational thing I'm 78 and have so much more listening history that you are only beginning to acquire. I don't think I could break it down to only 10. If I had to choose an artist to go on a list I would always say Hank Williams Sr. The list becomes so much harder after that. Too much good music to begin eliminating artists. Bravo to you for having the will to make such a list. I'm not sure I could.

    Loved this, new sub! You like Chris Stapleton - then you need to be introduced to Stevie Ray Vaughn or SRV - start with Texas Flood. That will lead you down a wonderful rabbit hole. Honerable mention as the story in the song is great and I just love this artist is Dwight Yokam - a 1000 Miles from Nowhere.

    Truly enjoy your heartfelt comments and I'm ecstatic that you're starting to feel what country music has to offer. There is just so much there -- especially when you tune into the old stuff. Despite my love for old-fashioned country, I have to agree that new guys like Hardy and Morgan Wallen are terrific. They are really starting to make country music fun again.

    I've never been a big fan of country music but I can appreciate the best performances of all genres. I'm glad you did Hank Williams Sr in another reaction. Patsy Cline's, "Crazy," is a classic country/bluesy song to check out.

    Of course everybody's tastes are different and your experiences shape who you are and the songs you like, but I feel like you can easily tell the difference in a list like this between the people who have experienced a large amount of country music and those who have only experienced a small amount of country music. The sample size for each artist can make a HUGE impact on how you feel about them as a whole. I might absolutely love 3 or 4 songs by one artist, but they won't be on a top 10 list because I'm not as big a fan of the rest of their work. And for almost all of the artists, I feel like your sample size is quite small to be making a list like this just yet. I personally feel like it's a bit premature, but maybe consider doing another one further down the line to see if/how it changes over time. Just my two cents for what it's worth. Hopefully you continue to explore the genre and enjoy the journey. God bless and have a great day!
