    Good video! But around 5:00 you forgot to mention that the little pin sticking out on the disc has to be unscrewed first with a 10mm wrench

    These instructions were helpful down to the wrench sizes! Thanks for helping me replace my brakes for the first time.

    This was helpful for 2006 XC70. Difference was 7mm hex for the caliper bolts instead of T47 torx. Carrier is held on by 15mm bolts just as here. The alignment spike is just a 10mm bolt instead of a spike. The torque recommendations were particularly helpful.

    This video worked great for me! I used this and your strut video together. I replaced both brake pads and struts.

    The rears have the emergency brake inside the hub of the rotor space so the steps will be different when replacing the rotor.

    Sometimes the T-47's are hard to find by themselves.

    @Rhandahl yeah I agree .. but I used a metric 7 hex bit. aworked fine.

    Hey 1a! Love yall and your videos and parts, but please revise this video to quickly explain that the alignment pin on the rotor needs to be removed with a 10mm wrench before you hammer on the rotor. Otherwise, you can strip the hole it goes into.

    I wish the front calipers were fixed like the rear. The rear pads are so easy to change. Less than 10 minutes including putting the wheel back on.

    Volvo are very clear that you should not reuse the two 15mm bolts holding the caliper carrier on

    The Haynes manual says to replace caliper bolts with new when removed. Do you agree?

    Where did you come up with that a T47 was the correct tool to remove a Volvo caliper? The slide pins are 7mm hex not torx. That's pretty standard for all FWD/AWD Volvos.

      Thank you... didn't look like Torx to me either... and I've never heard of a T47... T40, 45, 50... the only odd size I know is T27... which I've rarely used.

    So would all the turns be the opposite direction on the driver side?

    Do you take the same steps to replace the rear brakes as you do for the front brakes?

  • @Rhandahl
    @Rhandahl 11 років тому

    Luckily, when I checked today, before buying discs and pads, the mechanic that changed the calipers have changed the glidebolts aswell, so now its umbraco bits instead, the t47 is close to impossible to get hold of hereabouts it seems:P Now I got something to do during the christmas holidays.
    Good video anyway:)
    I wish I had a garage with a two-beam lifter:P

    I just changed my front brakes on my 2000 Volvo s70 and i cant seem to get the retaining clip to stay on my drivers side caliper. I wanted to know if that is dangerous for me drive without the retainer clip on?

    I had change the brake pads in the front now the brake squels when I hit the brakes going front but not when I am in reverse

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  10 років тому

      You could try to place a little bit of anti-squeak lube on the outside of the pads, to see if it quiets them down. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

    I serviced a 99 volvo s70 and for the calipers on this one it required a T45 Torx Bit, not T47.
