Thanks for posting this nice video but would suggest a few items to consider
    1. check the fluid in mater cylinder BEFORE starting this job
    2. put the appropriate stuff on the back of the brake pads
    3. clean the rotor surface before installing
    4. do not let the brake fluid drain from the brake line while changing out brake caliber
    5. fully tighten the brake line to brake caliber before installing the caliber on the bracket
    6. consider using a power bleeder and doing a brake system fluid replacement

I just want to let people know that i replaced my break discs and pads this week with items from Yellows from EBC They are just fantastic. (I do not have anything to do with the company) They say they do not make any but after talking to TIM in tech they do, they are just for the Volvo xc60 For some reason they dont say that they make it directly for the Volvo XC 70 2008. I purchased a full set and it stops in half the distance much better then the stock OMD parts. So for anyone who wants to know the following breaks sets do fit a 2008 VOLVO xc70 just take of the old and pop on the new, They are a perfect fit. I hope this helps people as it was bloody hard work finding upgraded breaks for the old lass. These are used on the street day in day out. Last week they saved the front end of my car on the duel carriage way when someone with out break lights stopped quickly.

Great explanation and video. . Surprised the rotor came of that easily. Saw one video where the rotor was so badly stuck on they had to destroy it to get it of.

    Very helpful video.
I was just wondering why you didn't apply any grease to the back of the brake pads before fitting them?
Was that deliberate or just an oversight?

Fun fact: The little knob atop the bleeder screw is actually meant for fitting a small clear hose when bleeding the system, iirc it was a 6mm inner diameter hose, so you don't spill the fluid all over the place and still see the bubbles coming out.

so you dont put any copper grease where the brake pads slide on or do you or on the back of the pads.

Why do you need to open the bleeder bolt on cars with ABS?

    • @MrDan1509

Iv never done that even on my 1999 Honda Prelude i had for many yrs... All that did was cause the system to be full of air.. Lol. I have done hundreds of brake jobs on new cars, still never cracked the bleeder valve or removed brake like to compress the caliper!
She's basically saying Reverse Bleeding is bad.. LMAO.. I knew this was gonna be a joke when she put a wheel stud on to hold the wheel when she broke it lose due to the hub sticking! Lol..

@@MrDan1509 I agree, no reason to open that can of worms, or in this case, bleeder valve.

@@MrDan1509 Not really sure how you're getting air in the system from opening the bleeder screw. I've never opened the bleeder screw for break job but even so if you're getting air in your system something is wrong. I can say it wont hurt.

also I had to take a sledge hammer to my 94 ram truck which still wouldn't come off I loosened the lugs and rolled forward to finally get the wheel broke free. you just never know with a 20 year old car. better to be safe then having a wheel fall off from 6 feet in the air.

Those caliper pistons are replaceable, why waste money on the whole caliper?
