Your husband seems like an amazing man. That’s the way I feel about my husband of 39 years. My country boy is such a man of integrity and a man of God that stands out in this world we live in. Today is his 62 birthday and I still feel privileged to be married to him. We’ve been thru a lot together. I was 17 when we married. I’m more in love now than in 1983. You and Matt seem to have a strong marriage also. We are truly blessed.

It's not 'silly' to go and have a fire and cook something to eat in the woods. It brings joy to me to do that with friends and family. I enjoy packing everything up and packing it all in!

@@CelebratingAppalachia I remember when I was living in western Colorado. I archery hunted for Elk and would go deep into wilderness areas. I spent much time at it. I lived in Wyoming Rockies for many years. It became tradition for all my hunting buddies to come by my home for breakfast cooked over a fire outside, after they had all packed up to leave the mountain. It was a peaceful end to a busy week. Our secret to food tasting so good outside was the view, i do believe. 🙂

Best of all sitting in nature seeing all the beauty God made for us. I love watching the animals hearing the birds seeing a big deer standing off looking at us. The smells out in the woods is wonderful then sitting with our loved ones talking laughing not worrying about anything but enjoying each other company. You are so blessed 🙏 I'm truly so happy for you all to have this kind of life . This little short jaunt reminds me of times taking my daughters at very early ages into the country down my the river in Kansas. Even in winter at 3 and 4 years old. Just to get out. We would build a fire and roast hot dogs. We did that frequently. I can remember teaching them about cutting dry sticks thin slices around it especially when wet. Showed them where to find dryer sticks and bark. All you did here too. I love those memories. This was when we still lived in Kansas that my older girls were young. Loved it.
    God bless all here.

While me and my brothers and friends go camping they always ask me to make my chili Mac or if I have any. They love when I cook while we camp. I cooked a breakfast similar to that one morning with deer sausage it was pretty good. And when I made that chili Mac that evening I believe it tasted so good because we were so tired and been in the river fishing for trout all day and to come back and have a nice hot meal is very comforting. You have the peace and tranquility of nature and the comfort of having good food. I think we appreciate it more because it takes a little extra effort to cook.

Thank you for a great idea! My husband and I sometimes camp in our yard, and sometimes cook lunch or supper, but I have never thought of breakfast, except when we have camped. He has a birthday coming up, so I have ordered Matt’s stove, and will wrap it up with a card with the link to this episode.
He watches your channel, and loves it when I make your menus. So far, his favorite has been the Appalachian breakfast with the sausage and gravy, biscuits, apples, eggs. And I am especially grateful to have finally learned how to make a tender country fried steak!

Going to the woods to cook breakfast, what a lovely idea and I love that Matt carried his cast iron pan to the woods to cook those eggs in! I also can't help noticing how carefully everything in packed for carrying!

Food definitely tastes better cooked like that. I have no idea why. I used to do history re-enactment and cooking breakfast was my favorite thing. Thanks for taking us along.

What a lovely way to start the day. So calm and relaxing. I remember making those little fire stoves in Girl Scouts waaaay back in the 70s out of coffee cans. Tell Matt that I didn't even have to finish telling hubby what a 'panty jack' was....men, they all think alike! You're right about the food tasting better when your outdoors; we love camping and I think it's because you work up the appetite with camping activities, it worth the work and so tasty. And the solace too....I can feel my soul rejoicing and relaxing whenever we go camping.

That rohodadinderon is so beautiful, breakfast outside is so good for the heart/soul, heavens earthly field is so blessed! I climb out my bedroom window onto a small porch next to my garden with my goats milk and a few sprouted organic oat flakes and a few walnuts nuts or pecans in a bowl/ go pick fresh strawberries yellow rasp berries or black/ pink /white and red currants off the bushes and sit in the gravel on the ground between my big strawberries and a beautiful rose ,to eat my breakfast/then climb back up the tiny steps and mini porch into the window,LOL, I feel food tastes better because outsides soulfulness brings an enlivenment to you, so glad you have each other to share in the beauty of creation!
