Wonderful history of the tram, the challenges building it, the people who contributed. My brother and I visited our gramps in Palm Springs in fall 1966. Gramps took us on the then new-ish tram. What spectacular views! As a bonus we got to see a tv show filming at the top. At the end of a take of a fight scene, I approached the soundman and asked what show they were working on. He pulled down his headphones and told me it was a new one called “Mannix” and seemed to make sure to mention it starred ‘Michael Connors’. Over the years I’ve seen the Mannix pilot (starring Mike Connors:) a few times and always look forward to the scenes on the tram, the fight at the top and the ending bit where Mannix subdues the bad guy -which we saw being filmed. It always takes me right back.

An episode of Mission Impossible was filmed there. The episode name was rightly untitled "The Tram". Lots of great exterior shots of the whole area.
My grandfather was the superintendent of construction
