On the face of it, China may turn parts of the desert green. It’s not that it cares about the environment, but more for commercial exploitation.
China doesn’t give a toss about its environment. Not according to the videos I’ve watched. Mainly pollutions of the waterways. Over fishing over the world. Building all these ghost cities, which isn’t occupied. So then you think how much of the land is wasted. That tells me, it’s about construction companies making the money regardless.
@Marry Jane I’m all for nuclear power, better still, hydropower over every other sources. They all have their own environmental issues. Nuclear power, although its clean, it is a problem, if they ever have a meltdown, like in Chernobyl and Fukushima. Also what to do with the spent fuel rods afterwards. Hydro alters the eco structure for fish, not that I really care about the fish.
Trouble with wind and solar. The energy they produce is only part time. So you need a permanent backup. Also these wind farms are a blot on the landscape and they’re hazards to birds. The odd one or two isn’t to bad.
At the end of the day, what price are we willing to pay?
Apparently china’s the worst for continuing to build coal fuel power stations, along with Poland.

I found this video to extremely inadequate and disturbing in describing these projects and the environmental hazards they will create.
The wind turbine foundation sounds interesting, but information on how it works would have been relevant and helpful.
SlipForm Test Tower looked like an interesting structure but again there was no explanation what a test tower is used for. The concrete is added as a form moves vertically up adding a layer as it goes. Here is one explanation from Wikipedia on what structure is used for.
"An elevator test tower is a structure usually 100 to over 200 metres (300 feet to over 600 feet) tall that is designed to evaluate the stress and fatigue limits of specific elevator cars in a controlled environment".
The Lanzhou New Area Project was the third construction project mentioned on this video and I found this project to be especially disturbing. A reported 700 mountains are to removed for a new city. A company spokesperson was quoted as saying that there would minimal damage to the environment by this project.
This is like a 1984 meme when 700 mountains are to removed and yet the company claims that there won't be any significant environmental damage. That is so disturbing I can't find the words to how sick and disturbed that is.

Farmland doesn't replace 1000s of years of flora, forna,wildlife and water sources. 700 mountains mowed down has huge environmental impacts. There's nothing to justify it...
China did the same thing with its northern border and Siberian forests. They flattened ancient forests and planted entirely different and inferior trees.
They could have easily terraced those mountains for a fraction of the cost to create arable farming land and incorporated buildings either inside the mountains or on top. There is no medicine for stupidity, China dies the same thing in Africa they care for nothing.
