@CD Smith Don't get me started on ignoring bullies. I still hate Sandra Bullock in this movie for her own reason called "making her character portrayed as a narcissist who ignored bullies".
I love how she doesn’t ever raise her voice. She doesn’t just yell and scream at them. She just calmly tells them that she won’t take it. You can hear the disappointment in her voice 👌🏻👌🏻 great acting right there
It's also being Southern. There are some who would raise their voice, but in most scenarios, we do that quiet and firm tone that makes others hang their head in shame or look the other way. It's all how you project. And with certain Southern women, who picked it up from mothers and grandmothers, we don't play around with matters of the heart or what's right. Whenever I get mad about what I love or know what's good, I drop my voice and be sweet about it but also true. It's all how you carry yourself. And Sandra is Southern- so she knows how to drop and get the the point across while still being ladylike but also carry her own.
"Y'all know there's a colored boy in your Christmas card?" "No, we totally missed the 6'8", 300lbs kid standing right next to us, and saying 'Cheese'. Damn, Bobby, good eye. Can't get nothin' by you." Holy shit.
i love how he implicates himself in thinking that the only conceivable way they would ever allow a black person to be in their family photo is if they straight up dont know that hes there somehow
At the end of the video when Collins went and sat with Michael, I just thought when you raise your children right, then you never have to worry that they won't do the right thing. It's easy to raise a smart child with all the computer programs and information and classes available online, or even with tutoring. But it takes a whole lot more time, effort and care to raise a kind child. One who will show everyone (people of all races, religions, and cultures) the same amount of courtesy, respect, understanding, compassion, empathy, generosity, care and kindness that they would hope to receive themselves.
@Tiana Jordan I think some is in your nature but some can be taught. My mum and older sister gave me a dressing down a couple of times I said unkind things as a kid. It sticks with you and changes your perspective.

Kendal Moraes white guilt is supposed to mean something like this."oh yes black and I'm white so I should apologize for thenpsdt of slavery and any current racism"
That comment makes me sick. White people can do nice things for black people without it being a white guilt thing. Some people were born into good families and taught good values such as you treat everyone with respect regardless of their color. You help people in need regardless of their color. My daddy always said you treat the janitor with the same respect you treat the CEO with. No matter what color they are. If they respect you, you respect them.
Right, I mean I get what she was saying about him being a boy because that is a little scary to have a boy that's somewhat a stranger in the house with your teenaged daughter but when she added in the reference to him being a large black boy I really don't get what him being black had to do with anything at all! Shame on those type of people😒
I understand the sentiment about having a random teenage boy under the same roof as your teenage daughter, but her putting race into it is where she's looking at it in the wrong way
Yep - it was actually a valid point to make, if not for the unnescessary racist overtone she added too it. That's why she went back and ask Collins if she was comfortable. It shouldn't have had to do with race - any relatively unknown male in the same household with your teenage daughter should have raised the same question, black or not.
Race does actually matter given the times. These people probably don't experience much racial diversity. They probably keep up with current affairs as well. So, their limited exposure may be the crime statistics. Proportionally, they are extremely high. At this time, its in the past, they weren't necessarily being racist, they may have been statistical. People like the mom and Michael helped bridge the gap
Randy Crager the sad part is it’s based on a true story. I try to see it from a mom stand point, I know my mom would never feel comfortable leaving me alone with a guy or something and I didn't understand her reasoning at as young girl, but growing up now I understand, not saying every guy will do something to a girl if she's alone with them. Take it as you will, it has nothing to do with being sexist. I may not have kids, but if I did have a daughter, I would not just be cool with leaving her alone with a male. But i'm sure im somehow wrong so it is what it is.
If you grew up with common sense about judging people's character, etc., then your Mom shouldn't have to worry about leaving you alone with other guys. That cut from those lost white middle-aged witches to the next scene in which the little girls on the swings ask Michael to push him - two white, blond cute girls, who couldn't care less about his skin tone... 🙊💛 ... And that's followed by white teenage girls (like a cut to "twelve years later"), who are in some sort of a transition period. The scene instantly reminds me that children are never born racist. That is a concept we teach them over the years!
I met this guy, who is traveling here in Mexico, and he told me his family was part of the KKK in Georgia and he moved away to raise his children in Seattle so they would not grow up with that thinking. I was really impressed. I thought it was awesome. Just goes to show people can know better deep down.

His step dad kicked him out and when we found out our family opened our home to him. He is black and kind of the same situation as Michael Orr we helped him out. That mom reminds me of my mom and she is #momgoals, stylish and protective, if ever I get married and have kids years from now thats the kind of mom I aspire to be. This is literally one of my fav movies ever because of her love and faith in her family
Gamer Rose Dragon Would *have, not of. And that would've solved nothing. Using few, powerful words to hold a mirror up to these people & make them see how disgraceful their behaviour is is far more effective & long lasting.
She is a lady that can get her point across with a good tongue lashing~ to the point and she means business. It wouldn’t have been productive to take Michael in and be violent, he had been around enough of that in his early years. Always lead by example. I love this true story and feel that more people should realize that loving and caring for others, no matter the race, is what life is supposed to be about. My family is a rainbow, and I wouldn’t want it any other way. Each ethnicity, religion, culture enhances the beauty, lessons, and blessings that shape us. Seriously, embrace each other’s differences~ and you will be enriched with the bonds, love, experiences, and lessons you will be rewarded with. Embrace mankind ❤️ respect the differences, find the similarities, and bask in the love. It will forever change not only the outlook of life, but the beauty of it will over flow to bless others also.
The "shame on you" line is not the reason why I'm against Sandra Bullock in "The Blind Side". I'm against her because she ignored bullies too far. #BackStabber
I think its underrated how varied racism is featured here. The uncle is racist but not highly. Hes old southern, he didn’t sound angry just confused lol But the women at lunch were absurd racist and she shut them down.

I know she was just acting, but this movie made my respect for Sandra Bullock grow immensely. It was beautiful.
I watched this movie in 2019 and its going in my top 10 list
That mom reminds me of my mom and she is #momgoals, stylish and protective, if ever I get married and have kids years from now thats the kind of mom I aspire to be. This is literally one of my fav movies ever because of her love and faith in her family
Just because the skin tone isn’t the same, that doesn’t mean the love isn’t there.
This was a great movie, going to have to watch it again.
I was surprised she didn't slap any of those women. I would of.
*Would HAVE
I've been using that "shame on you" line slot as well. The look on people's faces. Hahahaha
The "shame on you" line is not the reason why I'm against Sandra Bullock in "The Blind Side". I'm against her because she ignored bullies too far. #BackStabber
I see my brother in Michael and I’m so glad he’s still able to smile through all of this.
there are SO! many life lessons in this movie, I think I cried through most of this movie!
"before or after he turned over his grave" I dont need yall to prove my choices"
This restored my faith in humanity ! She took Michael in and treated him like a son no Questions and not asking for anything in return
I think its underrated how varied racism is featured here.
The uncle is racist but not highly. Hes old southern, he didn’t sound angry just confused lol
But the women at lunch were absurd racist and she shut them down.
So much gold!!
The world does not deserve Sandra Bullock. 👏🙌❤️
I don't like her in this film anyway.
this movie hits different.
My best friend in Alaska used to bring me to his house all the time. Everyone always looked at me funny. I know what it’s like to be the big scary black boy. His little sisters were like my little sisters I would die for them and NEVER hurt them 😢
Jay it must suck taking 20 minutes too write in all caps SOLELY just too try and make someone feel bad today 😂😇🥰🥰
Jay They wouldn’t piss on me you are absolutely right about that 🥰😂 if you like getting peed on I’m sorry too let you know that’s probably just a “you” thing.
SJ the kid here should have won an Oscar. What an amazing kid he was in this movie. Amazing.. I really like his curiosity and kidlikeness.
