Hi I'm Wendy a resin artist and crafter.
In this video I am collaborating with Kaya at Nalla & Goat.
Kaya is a talented crafter and if you haven't heard or seen her channel please check it out (link below).
We had a chat and decided that we would both buy the same mould and use it to make a gift for the other person.
We settled on a chess set and both purchased the same mould from Amazon (link below).
I decided to try some things I hadn't seen anyone else do, namely decal paper in resin and flames in pieces. And I absolutely have a 'thing' for Dragons. It was a challenge but I am so glad I tried it as it worked out so very well. It might be the last dragon chess set I will make though as training your dragon is not easy lol.
After a lot of time spent on this project (and I do mean a lot) we have finally finished the sets and sent them to each other.
Mine hasn't arrived yet so will put up an unboxing video in the next few days.
This project took an age. The pawns drove me mad and I ended up making a 4 pawn mould to cut the time down. You could say I was cheating on the challenge but I considered it adapting lol.
We both have day jobs and this collaboration was set up in March 21. Its now May 21 so It has taken quite some time to get to this point.
I really hope you enjoy watching this as much as we have both enjoyed the process (even the pawns).

I love this, such a pretty chest board 😍😍 and if you do not want a white backside on the decal you also have waterslide decal which is transparant 😍 so then you can make other pretty backgrounds instead of white, it's almost the same as body tattoo's but not sticky it's awesome, Thank you so much for this awesome video 🥰

Such an amazing chess set - as I was unwrapping all the (individually wrapped!!) pawns I was thinking fire & ice? and I'm so glad I got it right !
I learnt so much watching this video - and I admire your dedication to making all the pawns! I didn;t think I could save the pieces from the not-very-good-quality mold - So I also cheated and also made my own mold. I really want to try using the water-slide paper - very smart.

I can certainly understand your frustration with those pawns! Absolutely loved it. I think I might buy a really cheap chess set and make my own molds for it. Like you, I would not want to spend two or three weeks just to make one. I don't have a printer, but I think I can use some tattoos to make the different board squares. Brilliant!

I need to find someone to make this for! Unfortunately I can’t play, I don’t have a strategic mind. But what a challenge! Love the fact you made the flames yourself as well. Truly AWESOME 🤩
PS - I’ve taken the plunge and done an ombré with electric blue - it’s quite subtle as I didn’t leave it on for long, but am soooo gonna do it again 😍

The first time I had colour in my hair it was just a streak of pink. No one could see it and that annoyed me lol.

Wow it's absolutely stunning, I love it! What a great idea of printing your own images out of waterslide paper to design the chess board. The possibilities are endless to create whatever design you want. I bet printing on tattoo paper would work also.
Oh yes it definitely would 😀😀😀 I haven’t had the opportunity to use tattoo paper to print with but I do put tattoos in resin quite a lot 😀😀😀

That is true dedication! I love the look of the finished board and pieces. I need to try the waterslide paper I bought a few months ago, just need to install and set up my new inkjet printer first. I've only had that one since last September...

If you get one, find one that does both 😂😂😂
Awesome next time you make flames, if you paint the resin onto wet strength tissue paper, the paper goes clear except where you paint the colors, then it’s thinner and easier to cut to the size and flame shape/s you want :)

Came out stunning, is water slide paper the same as the temporary kids tattoo.
No, but similar. It’s not sticky like a tattoo, but comes off the backing the same way 😀❤️

i done draft board and that wouldnt sit flat, i have also done tetrus that only give you 8 shapes and you need what feels like millions then the board again had issues and pieces didn't fit correctly but i did cheat i made about 4 of each shape and a lid or something cant remember what and some mold making 1:1 silicon stuff and i know have a huge very thick slab of shapes but no solution to the actual board but i have all the pieces, but still fighting with the frame board oh also did the same with o an X cos the give you a mold with 3 of X and 2 O's lol so i now make sure i have silicon stuff ready incase i need to cheat instead of spending a life time lol

TBH I made quite a few sizes till I hit upon the right size for the mould.
I’ve just measured the one I have here and it’s 3 by 3 cm
Or 30mm x 30mm
Not every mould will be the same so measuring the gap will help

No I don’t. I’m not really great with computer programs and all I did was keep printing samples till I had the right size. Then copied that image loads of time on one sheet 😀👍

I’ve not tried it but regular paper will soak up the resin so it’s very unlikely 😳

They are just free downloads from google
Guess I won’t be buying that mold since it’s not shiny
