    I never knew until last night that there was a piano transcription of my favorite aria. (Monserrat Cabelle outdoor performance is amazing.) Yunchan Lim playing this piece alone would have been worth attending the concert. His encores were my favorite of the spectacular evening.

    " Casta DIva" è un'aria non solo famosa di "Norma" del grandissimo Vincenzo Bellini , Maestro della melodia ,ma anche di una bellezza miracolosa. Chopin , grande amico di Bellini ( tanto che volle essere sepolto accanto a lui al Cimitero di Pere Lachaise ) ha voluto farne una bellissima trascrizione per pianoforte. Bellissimo poter seguire lo "spartito" , con un'armatura di chiave con quattro diesis, che comporta l'uso di molti "doppi diesis", perché la melodia, oltre ad essere arpeggiata , procede per semitoni e questo cromatismo la rende
    impareggiabile. Lo stesso Vedi riconosceva a Bellini questa grande capacità di realizzare la melodia ( più che l'orchestrazione) , proprio perché Bellini riusciva ad allungare ( soprattutto discendendo) la melodia ,oltre il possibile. Una vera bellezza visiva e uditiva. Grazie.

    • @CatkhosruShapurrjiFurabji
      @CatkhosruShapurrjiFurabji 2 роки тому +3

      Maybe he did not play from this edition and played from the manuscript? It is possible that the editor of this score misread it or the pianist misread or feels that it is not misread. You may want to compare it with the original, and even if it had been misread by either person mentioned above, it is totally humanly.

    • @MrEliasMarques
      @MrEliasMarques 2 роки тому +2

      @@CatkhosruShapurrjiFurabji On the original Aria this is a very expressive colla voce passage. This particular note creates a delicate and beautiful phrase ending. I doubt the editors or even Chopin himself would have just left it out of the final version. Also, one can see another A# on the same bar, making it difficult to believe such a skilled player would just skip it. I really think the performer chose to do it this way. However, this is an amazing rendition that for sure transmits the aura of the original piece.
