- Travis Scott is one of the biggest artists in the world who diversified his portfolio so that he isn’t only known for his music. Even if you haven’t heard one of his songs, you may have heard his name due to the various endorsement deals he has, the controversies he’s been involved in, or even through his spouse who is more widely known than he is. Travis made a name for himself a lot faster than most others, and he doesn’t mention how he came up very often, leaving his fans with little knowledge of his mysterious past. His original music style which he claims “Doesn’t Classify As Strictly Hip-Hop,” has been described as a mix of genres such as 'psychedelic trap,' 'alternative hip-hop,' and 'rage.' He earned a reputation for having some of the most lively shows up until a tragic event occurred that caused his name to be synonymous with controversy. Some of his supporters chose to stick by him while others ended their support of him. If you listen to hip hop and rap, you have most likely heard of Travis Scott and know at least a bit about him, but how far does your knowledge of Travis go? Does it lie just at the tip of the iceberg? Or does it extend far beneath the sea? There’s more context to those times, in fact the dude that he wanted to make sure was ok was actually a dude he bought a multi million dollar Krusty the clown from the Simpson portrait.
When he sees the ambulance I. The crowd, he goes “yo is that that an abulanc-whoa, whoa, whoa, what the fuck is that” and legit pretends he did not just see an ambulance in the crowd, doesn’t stop the concert or try to get people to let the ambulance through, he just goes to the next song (the ambulance eventually gives up and tries to leave, only to have fans get on top of it.
When Travis is telling people to put their middle fingers in the air if they’re ok (kind of a dumb way to check of people are ok considering those who aren’t you just won’t be able to see), this actually takes place right after 2 guys come on stage in between songs and start talking to him (I wonder what is so urgent) and he literally says “yeah yeah yeah” and after the middle finger part just goes into the next song.
Right after this a mass casualty event is declared and live-nation agrees to end the show, Travis then continues the show despite being officially over according to the venue, and then, 20 minutes later, brings Drake out and performs Sicko Mode. (Drake was backstage the whole time there is literally no excuse for him not knowing about the mass casualty event and the concert being cancelled) Travis then performs for 20 more minutes, 3& minutes total after Travis was talked to by this one dudes and it being declared as a mass casualty event, by finishing his set, and walking backstage to go to a party at Dave N Busters that Drake was holding, apparently not even knowing that 8 people were dead at his concert.
I’m actually a big Travis Scott fan, and I’m anxiously awaiting Utopia rn, I’m not saying we should cancel Travis Scott or anything, I’m a Kanye fan for god’s sake, but what I am saying is if you idolize an artist (or even are just a casual fan) you need to also acknowledge what they did, in its totality, not try to excuse it, justify it, or downplay it.
There is this one dude that made an incredible timeline of the astroworld tragedy, and it really opened my eyes to the negligence and willful ignorance Travis displayed during that concert, I would check it out if I were you.

Crazy story; I was walking through The Woodlands Mall (some suburb outside of Houston) and I ran across Spuf Don on the downstairs level and he happened to be working for a shoe cleaning venue, and he saw that I just got some Jordan 1's (they were semi clean). So he offered me a free cleaning trial and shined up my kicks at no cost. A little bit into our convo, he drops the bomb on me and says he knows Travis Scott. But before he said any of that, he did mention that I shouldn't act all crazy around him because him and Travis were no longer in contact, due to Travis pursuing his rap career. While I did think at the time that Travis did a messed up thing leaving his Day 1's behind that pushed him further to success, I clearly understood why and also Spuf Don didn't seem to be bothered by it anymore. He's a laid back dude, grinding to make a living, and I do believe he does music and on one of his Instagram posts (on December 29, 2015) there's a picture of him and Travis Scott (wearing a sick colorful jacket) with the captions stating they recorded a song titled ''Brainstorm'' under their former rap group The Classmates.
