We are quick to judge and sniggering but I believe that Purple is living the dream that so many of us crave. Living in such beautiful natural surroundings and far from the madding crowd is priceless. Inner peace like that can't be bought. Thanks Bryce for yet another inspirational video.
@@chopsticksforlegs I also felt like I went through a revolution in thinking when I turned 40. I started to value people and how I related to them. I have the pleasure to be able to call Purple my friend, known him my whole life and he is a very kind and considerate person, he inspires myself and others to do better for the environment and just to be grateful with what you have. The 'white sage' smells fantastic as well :p
I love how diplomatic Bryce is😊. I love that he shows the good, the bad and the ugly. But Purple has been moving in this bus for TEN years. And I know he's not just growing and drying white sage...lol... This guy is a pioneer. Bus living for 10 yrs. Solar energy, outside shower, a homemade sun oven, the hot water heater. He's either a miser or was very poor when he started. Not everybody has 50 grand in the bank to build a new tiny house. So thank you for this showing. And thank you, too, Purple
Purple struck me as an enlightened person. His priority is to live in a way that is sustainable and draw on his own resources and that of the sun and nature in a way that does the least harm. Many of us who do the same could probably never have accomplished this goal if we also fed a craving for intoxicants which drag down the energy and creative mind. Even though he is devoted to a certain color scheme and has a beard perhaps he is older and wise enough to know that sage or basil or culinary herbs and healthy plant foods are the only herbs we need to be happy and would not imbibe in anything that took away his being in the joyful present of this beautiful world. There are now and have been billions in the past before this age of intoxicants that have found peace and liberation in the simple life. Of course, it is not as easy to find such people now, but they do exist and show us the way.

Purple - my personal favorite color! I loved this video Bryce, I'm so glad you found this gentleman and was able to interview him. What a lifestyle - wow! One thing kept popping into my head while watching and that is the old adage "one mans trash is another man's treasure". How true! His ability to see value in something that would ordinarily be discarded was super impressive. Mr. Purple (I'll call him) definitely has his act together - my hat is off to him. Thanks so much Bryce - another winner - take care my friend. ;)
Hey Charles! Absolutely. This is definitely a trash to treasure story. It was so interesting to see how he repurposed and restored everything into use. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching mate! Hope all is great with you! :)
What a unique character & lifestyle. I bet he doesn't suffer from blood pressure problems. A basic but a happy lifestyle . Thank you for sharing . 🇦🇺🐨👍🏼❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I think Purple has his dream home. Who cares what anyone else thinks, he's at peace, he's warm and cozy, he isn't destroying the planet with throwaway crap, he'll be around when the electric grid gets killed by our sun.... and he has a beautiful soul. Really liked this one Bryce... and loved his shower. so natural and beautiful not wasting a single drop of anything... an amazing lifestyle.
What a warm and calm soul Purple has. It takes imagination to look at "junk" and realize that it is really something else waiting to be created and used. Thank you for finding him Bryce.
This fella has it all! Looked up the traits if the color purple & found this: The color purple is often associated with royalty, nobility, luxury, power, and ambition. Purple also represents meanings of wealth, extravagance, creativity, wisdom, dignity, grandeur, devotion, peace, pride, mystery, independence, and magic.
First, Purple, I 💜 the fact that he adopted the name, so awesome! "1k, 2k, as far as a homeless go"... this person went from homeless to paradise and stylish living (his own version of paradise and style, which I too find lovely). In the era of the gurus of life and personal improvement, the so called coaches, one finds refreshing knowing a person that really knows about life improvement, someone that actually lived the process instead of reading it on a book.
I wanted to judge the guy at the start, but I must admit that after watching through, I’m utterly impressed and can’t help but to respect his property and even his ideology. Great video 👍🏻👍🏻 Wish Purple all the luck
No he won't. He still uses gas, he would still need to buy meds and his fridge - full of cans. Growing your own food is nice, but without live stock, huge variety of plants, silos for the winter, etc - you will run out eventually. And depending on the "collapse" - he might have to defend himself and be really mobile (being in a bus helps but it also needs to be road worthy, which might not be the case after decades of rusting in one place). Don't get me wrong - he is still alot more self sufficient than the rest of us, however there are certain things that a person will be really hard pressed to live without and might not survive by himself for long. We are social beings for a reason. We could do without alot, however survival is almost impossible for long-term on our own...
What a character! Quite a pack rat, but he seems so peaceful, gentle and incredibly creative. It's so refreshing to find someone who's not infected with the greed and addiction so often seen in people from capitalistic countries... It's also really cool that he's been able to figure out ways to meet all his needs and comforts pretty much by his own ingenuity rather than buying in everything. His gratitude and joy of living a simple life of frugality and connection to nature are inspiring. One to two thousand bucks?!!! Amazing! Way too cluttered for me, but other than that he's really got everything he needs for a peaceful, happy life.
He seems like a bit of a pack rat but I bet if if all the stuff in his bus was put up against all the stuff in an average western house, he'd still have less.
Well, there's no question about that! It's just that he seems never to throw ANYTHING away, so his space is overflowing with junky little bits and bobs to the point of obsession. His creativity is wonderful, but his bus and yard are so cluttered up with stuff that he hopes one day to make into something that it's beginning to resemble a junk yard. I could never feel peaceful or relaxed in such a cluttered space myself. Then again human beings as a race are so incredibly wasteful that we're literally destroying our own habitat... So perhaps we should all do a lot more of this sort of thing before that's the only option left to us; if we have any options left at all!
Purple is my favorite color! It's amazing how cool his home looks just because of this color. It really matches his energy and personality, aand that's what my mom always tells me: that a house has to match with the person living in it. It's not about being rich or having expensive stuff, is about living in a place with "you" written all over it.

A Spectacular display, from a Lovely Soul, of being unafraid to bring your your own fun ideas, as well as the practical, into fruition. He really perked up and opened up, knowing you not only showed you liked and admired it, but that you were genuine in your response. You are ever so good at what you do, Bryce. : )

Beautiful location as well, seems everywhere in NZ is like that. I will have to get out there someday.

I see people living in not so sunny places trying to harness solar energy and here we have 300days of proper sunlight but still not using solar energy .
We are getting better though, the solar farms in Gujrat and Rajasthan and in certain rural areas prove it. As well as using solar water heaters being really common here in Bangalore
I literally just stopped the video because the Incense Burner was priceless! Would never thought of, let alone putting it together the way he did. What a Wonderful way of thinking he has. Thank You for sharing him with us!
Envy this guy. A lot of us can’t even get to where he is, in term of finding happiness with so little and being able to really enjoy the goodness that nature brings. Thks for sharing. Xxx
I've been thinking about disconnecting from the grid for a while now. A plan is in place and soon to be implemented. I've thought of different ways to create my own hot water and living space. I wouldn't do it exactly like he has, but I love the idea. The world would be a better place if more people were like him.
sometimes I forget how important it is to connect and be apart of nature, life is short and for me chasing after this world will be forever. I have a different sight now thank you Bryce.

Bryce is so warm, humble, speaks very nicely..
amazing💜💜💜
IM ASTONISHED AT HIS INGENUITY!!! IMPRESSIVE MIND!!!
The guest loft of this bus is really cute & cosy! All the purple actually adds cheer & colour. He seems like a very nice gentleman who is very happy in his creative space. It sure is sweet at night with all the cute lights turned on.👍🏻

So coincidental, I know a lady called Purple, she is equally quirky and sweet and lives in the South Island as an artist.
Purple Taylor that lives in Oamaru perhaps?
I see people living in not so sunny places trying to harness solar energy and here we have 300days of proper sunlight but still not using solar energy .
where?
I live in PR and we have the same problem
Same. I'd assume you were in backwards USA somewhere but, I suppose some other places could be as backwards us here.

We are getting better though, the solar farms in Gujrat and Rajasthan and in certain rural areas prove it. As well as using solar water heaters being really common here in Bangalore
great job! we need more people trying to use everything several times before throwing it away.
Mystical home purple the violet flame Little does he know St Germaine 💜 😄
This guy is so cool to me, one time fee a kind. Blessings brother
I literally just stopped the video because the Incense Burner was priceless! Would never thought of, let alone putting it together the way he did. What a Wonderful way of thinking he has. Thank You for sharing him with us!
Purple is a refreshing eccentric gentleman to see taking advantage of the ultra simple lifestyle. He a sorelaxed and ease.
Guy is peaceful, everything else is extraneous.

Seems to have life figured out
Well done Purple your home is so beautiful and makes you happy that's wonderful. Keep safe and live a long healthy lifestyle 😍🙏
Envy this guy. A lot of us can’t even get to where he is, in term of finding happiness with so little and being able to really enjoy the goodness that nature brings. Thks for sharing. Xxx
dude, your need a good dog to share your heart with, the perfect companion
Well☺ im glad someone else is also sooo passionate about the color Purple🙌🎉😍 as I am👏... Lots of Respect to Purple i wish him the Best

Love that shower... Take a shower and eat breakfast at the same time, priceless!!!
Purple Slurple! Love it! Well done! I agree with him--no matter how much bench space you have you'll fill it up! LOL
Hippie at heart! Love his individualism!
Fantastic vid
That outdoor shower looked nasty at first but actually cool as hell.
None of that nasty stuff ion South Island in NZ :D
My initial thought as an African...
Yeah...no snakes and spiders aren't poisonous.
Loved this episode - what a wonderful home and owner!
I'd love to see more alternative tiny homes like this in your new videos. I've watched nearly all your videos during lockdown, and definitely the hippie homes like this, that are always unique and with interesting owners are my absolute fave 😍
Thanks Purple, Rasa and Bryce! ❤️🌈
His humility speaks volumes. Lovely off grid set up. 🎨💜
He’s literally transported from 1967 through a time tunnel!
Purple..YOU are magical! Your knowledge is of great value here and now. the ease you have is priceless! Have fun creating and inspiring us all🌃
Bruce, I have a request bring Purple back on your channel with how to's in making the solar oven and enrich us of his golden knowledge.
