@@ZalvaTionZ yes, the PSVR2 has much better black levels, the contrast at another more immersive level. Did John mention the Moira/Mura effect at all?? I seem to have a lot of this so called Mura and thinking about returning my headset. Do you also have this??
I’ve always wondered why they haven’t made a VR port of Amnesia. It pretty much set the trend for the last decade of horror games, it’d make them a small fortune. Plus it’d be brilliant in VR. Thinking about it, their games are basically made for VR anyway with the interactivity
Pointing at the gloves, I love it. Attention to detail with a powerful passion for games, graphics technology and the industry. Great video guys. I wanna see RE8 impressions. Im so tempted by the RE games VR support.
The video is much less a mess than I would have guessed beforehand. Good job! Some feedback: - Buy a beer to your editor. They saved the video by removing the mic bumps :) - Indeed, just use a lav next time. Or try a shotgun from a safe distance, but you'll need a good room to do that . If you want to go high end, use 2 lavs, one on each side of the neck, and have the editor switch the feeds when you turn your head. And send them a whole crate of Belgian beers. - Videos like that would benefit from having the editor add 2D visual aid to the discussion. Like when you're talking about a specific screen space by product, or a specific shadow doing something, pointing it out with added graphics would help the less technical audience follow up the conversation. - And next time a wee bit more, maybe not scripting but at least self awareness as to the pacing of the video, but also to what's being said, when things need to move along, and when you need to stop and formulate a better explanation with a better demonstration. But for a first VR video, this one is fine.
This was so funny 🤣 love these type of loosy-goosy vids. Gonna get a PSVR2 myself, have a Vive atm, but I like how easy it is to set-up etc, compared to PC VRs
35:00 no way I prefer this by far over the other collab ones like Goldeneye. The production value feels better and it was more structured and you focus on the aspects you need to. In contrast the Goldeneye one felt a bit rough, too much challenge in being lined up etc.. I dunno. You and Alex also have very complimentary knowledge.
Had psvr1 day one ordered psvr 2 should get it very soon so looking forward to this only ever used psvr 1 so this one the resolution and tracking will be fantastic, can not wait 😀
maybe John mentioned it and I missed it, but does is there something up with the fit of the headset? I notice John making some grimaces during stretches of gameplay. Can't tell if that's a reaction to the gameplay or him reacting to the fit of the headset?
New PSVR 2 owners must take a few minutes to perfectly calibrate, not rush it. Especially the tilt of the headset, so back band is snug on the back of skull and eye proximity is perfect and level for your IPD and tracking. When you find the clear sweet spot for yourself, text will be sharp for example. After that, you'll always find it again and it will feel routine to calibrate it dead on for proper clarity and hours of comfortable gameplay.
Hey John, if ya wanna try a VR game with physicalized EVERYTHING, from bullets to magazines to all inventory items and food, you should try "Into the Radius" sometime. It has the best inventory system in VR, and realistic weapon and ammo handling. No grabbing stuff from menus and whatnot, everything is an actual item with physics. It's not on PSVR2 unfortunately (the devs said they wanna wait and make sure PSVR2 is a hit before spending time on a port since they're a small team), but the PCVR version is great.
I couldn’t even make it to the second ladder after you get out of the boat without getting so dizzy I had to turn it off. Now 24 hours later I don’t even wanna look at VR, im still fucked up. I shouldn’t of tried the expert control scheme right off the bat. After doing research I need to take baby steps. Funny enough GT7 wasn’t terrible, I was able to do 3 races no problem.

The Wii shop music during the strap adjustment made me genuinely guffaw out loud. Such a classic groove!
Did John mention the Moira/Mura effect at all?? I seem to have a lot of this so called Mura and thinking about returning my headset. Do you also have this??
Just got mine. Definitely a step up from my HP Reverb G2. PC mod please!
Yeah only if the game supports full resolution. I had a Reverb g2 and just got mine too
Gonna put a pin in this and watch later to avoid spoilers, but looking forward to checking it out after I play Horizon for a bit!
I wish there was Amnesia The Dark Descent and the Penumbra series for PSVR 2.
I’ve always wondered why they haven’t made a VR port of Amnesia. It pretty much set the trend for the last decade of horror games, it’d make them a small fortune. Plus it’d be brilliant in VR. Thinking about it, their games are basically made for VR anyway with the interactivity
probably something you can do with PC right now
@@John-fs8be Yes, but we are talking about PS5 content, on PC anything is possible with modding.
Excellent Coverage, Please do this for other PSVR2 Games too 👍
That was excellent, fun and informative. Looking forward to the live stream next!
12:34 I find it hilarious when John points at the shadow for analysis
Loved the Max Headroom intro. John & Alex won't know Max Headroom but Rich will 👍😅
Lol at the mic bump counter 😂
11:41 They’re really amazed at Sub Surface Scattering - the level of detail in consumer VR today is immense
Pointing at the gloves, I love it. Attention to detail with a powerful passion for games, graphics technology and the industry. Great video guys. I wanna see RE8 impressions. Im so tempted by the RE games VR support.
The video is much less a mess than I would have guessed beforehand. Good job!
Some feedback:
- Buy a beer to your editor. They saved the video by removing the mic bumps :)
- Indeed, just use a lav next time.
This video is kinda fun and refreshing. Keep that format for VR testing honestly ! That’s good and fun
Love that Max Headroom background at the beginning. Truly a Cyberpunk moment.
34:20 best moment
John picks up the paintbrush first thought lol 😂
Great video! Please do more vr stuff. How about that kayaking game? Heard it had fantastic graphics
This was a fun way to do VR analysis!
He said there was zero problems for people who wear glasses. Guess sony thought about maximum comfort for everyone.
Everyone else: Review PSVR2
Digital Foundry: John, observing a basket, a jar, a puddle and sticking his finger into a torch.
I could easily watch many more hours of this, so fun!
Mike is my new favorite DF hire.
Been playing re8, loving it, however getting over the motion sickness hurdle after not using vr for a couple years is rough
Can we appreciate the max headroom background for a moment :D
Edison Carter would be proud of your Max Headroom background at the start of the video 😂
Haha, that Max Headroom background is hilarious.
