That little Mako is getting a workout today! Surprising what a competent platform it actually is out front on those Jacks. They are much stronger pound for pound than the Reds.
In the 90's in Texas, fishermen I knew, stayed away from jacks unless it was someone's introduction to fishing pranks, or party boats that told people the big ones were good to eat. I understand the small ones are good, but I never saw one in Tx under 20lbs. If I were after reds, trout, and flounder, I wouldn't cast at a school of Jacks busting on top. Maybe. If you're in a boat you can get above them in deep water and pry them right up with 50# tackle. Thanks for the show!
Great video and awesome catch... congrats.....
Man, those things fight! It’s surprising because of the big predator “v” shaped tail fin. Nice video!
Morning Rod “Bender”😳😂😂
Amber Jacks don’t give up easy. We fished the “L” reef and landed some huge Jack and Red Snapper. Kept the legal ones and a good number of Black Sea bass. Fun fishing and good eats.
🎣🇺🇸
These are different from Amber jacks… these are Jack Crevalle, both still fight crazy hard!
Awesome day out at the jetties 🤜🤛
Badass video Dan
Wow..!! Nice catch 💖👋🏽😀
Thanks ma’am
That is some really nice Jacks. Great Day on the water Dan!!
Thanks Mike
Great to see the second part of this trip Dan! You really did a good job of using that drag on the Jack. Keep the fishing action coming. Looking forward to getting out there this weekend. Well done!
Thanks man. She was smoking that drag for sure.
Great video, Dan.
Thanks Jays
Now that is a successful Savanah Jetties fishing trip! Congrats on the jack! Hope to see you out there soon!
Thanks Corey!!
Yessir what a strong animal
Glad you are back to feeling better now! Love to see the content! I so badly want to hook into a jack on my kayak!
Thanks brother.
Dang I wanna catch one of those! Gonna have to step my gear up a bit🤪
Amazing how well that 4000 nasci handled that fish
Nice videos, I fish the Brunswick area, and have just started fishing the Savannah area. Thanks for the tips. Just let me know when you need a fishing buddy..
Thanks for the support
Love the video! I was here last weekend but couldn’t get away from the sharks. I would love to see you go in more depth on how you catch bait with the net. Sometimes I struggle. Thanks!
Will do man. Thanks for the support brother
The amazing and beautiful fish you catch from God's creation! Keep up the fun times for us to experience!
Will do
What would be your favorite lure to use if you could only choose one to use the rest of your life
First like and comment! Woot!
Bam!!!! 💥 💥
Is that the north end of tybee?
what part of savannah are you fishing
How long was the 80lb leader? Never used wire?
24”
You put in at lazoreta creek? I've got a small skiff like you and was wondering what was the safest way to get there
Yeah Lazaretto. Head to the ocean and swing wide around the rocks. Swing wide!!
I assume the marker is still there at the end of the jetties. If not it sure needs to be!
@@markmunn7737 it’s not on the SC side. You will hit the rocks if you don’t swing wide.
@LowCountryFishing there’s no reason for them to not have both ends of the jetties well marked, North and South. I believe the North one was marked several years ago.
I haven’t been out there in a few years now but need to make another visit soon!
From Lazaretto Creek I follow Tybee Island coast to the #17 & #18 buoys. They are about a half mile past the two jetties. They are hard to see, and even harder on your hull! Great video! We’ve been putting in near St. Catherine’s, but now you got me ready to come back up to Tybee!
Hey Dan I was wondering if you could comment on how well the Mako 15 handles in regards to the conditions out there and the larger boats moving in and out. Within the next 6 months or so I'm going to be getting a boat and I'm torn between getting the 15ft or 17. Like, was this something you'd be comfortable doing in just about any regular day under most normal conditions to safely run the boat or would this be more like only going out there when conditions are unusually calm out there to be in the 15ft. Right now I'm in a kayak, and what kills me is being extremely limited on trips out for both conditions and distance and when I go out to get a boat I don't want that to really be a concern because I know for a fact there is no chance I'd head out to that location in a kayak under any conditions. Thanks in advance
Saw a 12 ft flats boat with a 25 hp tiller motor out there yesterday it was pretty calm but current got to moving
@@coleswagert3767 I gotcha, I'm just super concerned with water coming over the sides and swamping my electricals and being screwed for a bit and have to call for a few hundred dollar tow. I know I want something that can get me into more open water like this (obviously not anything offshore) for the summer months, but I also want something to get into skinnier waters and back creeks. So it can't be too big or too small.
Go 17ft. You won’t regret having that extra 2ft and most times you’ll wish it was bigger when the water goes from 1footers to 3 footers in minutes!
@@melloreel true, thats what I've kinda more or less been leaning towards. The way I look at it too is worse case scenario say I get the 17ft and be a bit cumbersome to navigate is super skinny water. I can always just get a new jon boat, trailer and smaller kicker motor for a few thousand dollars a few years later, and just give it far more attention in regards to oxidation, keep a good coat of paint and maybe gloss it and still have the 17 ft for almost 90% of my trips.
@@ytho95 you’ll be fine at 17. It will go anywhere the 15 will go👍 Plus the ride won’t be quite as rough, which opens up a little more fishing area to you👍 Good luck!
How did you know a school of jack passed by?(new to fish)
I saw them swim under me.
Took one from a stingray today…. Should’ve cut the line.
Dang!!!! I cut from now own.
You ok?
Just a flesh wound. He was hooked in the belly and it was just close enough to whip his tail around and caught me in the finger.
@@liketofish4383 yikes
I got to take a break, my arms are aching$
Why throw a little trout rod at those big jacks when you know they'll probably break you off and die with a big plug in their throat? We're super lucky to have these awesome sport fish here in the summer, show them some respect and use your heavy tackle.
That rod is capable
@@LowCountryFishing The videos speak for themselves. Not trying to pick a fight here, just surprised to see you so unconcerned about breaking them off over and over. You normally show good respect for our fishery.
