The copic airbrush looks like a kid toy compared to the actual airbrush.
The real airbrush makes the Copic airbrush look like the Crayola airbrush.

Well he is a UA-camr after all...
But seriously, to Jazzas credit, he does actually use Skilshare waaaay more than anyone else I've seen promote it.
I feel like he would do a lot better with a one on one tutorial, when someone shows him what to do each step of the way and then he does it, I tend to learn best that way as well
Well, probably because he'd need to use few minutes to login to skillshare whereas you can use UA-cam without logging in (if he isn't logged to yt constantly. So in general, using yt is more convenient unless there is no specific info you need there, then you use other sources.

Makes sense - something that was tailor-made to fulfill a purpose performs better than something that was retrofitted to try and fulfill an alternate purpose.
That aside, Copics are expensive as hell, and I can see that airbrush peripheral absolutely draining a marker rather quickly. So the airbrush makes more practical sense considering how cheap airbrush paint is, and how much more paint you can get per pot after thinning it.
Plus Copics aren’t lightfast AT ALL. They aren’t meant for permanent artworks like acrylics.
@@tuffkay7864 what the fuck copics aren't light-fast? That's a total waste of money. I'll stick with ohuhu

So the advantages of a normal airbrush are that you can use it on food with food safe colors, you can use may different types of paints and inks with it, and you can also use it for art purposes. The Copic airbrush is useful for art only purposes, you can’t airbrush food with it unless you want to poison someone (which is also something you can use an airbrush for lol)
Edit: reading some of the comments brings up a valid point as well. Copic markers are expensive as hell but airbrush paint is relatively inexpensive in comparison.

If the airbrush makes crumbly noises, the paint is already slightly dry. x) What should pay attention to is that the paint dries very quickly in the airbrush and needs to be cleaned more often during spraying. If bubbles come out of the top of the cap, the paint has already dried somewhat, which may not look so nice when sprayed. Here 1 to 2 drops of water help to clean the nozzle.

As someone who has actually had a professional teach him how to use an airbrush, I can confidently say that for your first try at it, you did REALLY well!
This is the first time Jazza has actually done something that I'm very experienced in, and yes it was slightly painful to watch. Great work learning so much so quickly though, and a great choice of airbrush too. The trick with working very close to the surface is to lower the pressure, and apply paint in tiny spurts, maintaining continuous airflow but rocking the trigger back and forth to release small amounts of paint and then immediately dry it with the airflow and repeat as needed.
Thanks for the tips!

the airbrushing system is a combination of brushes, pens, taping and the actual compressor air brush system. If you combine it all, you can create stunning work. The video was rad though. Never painted a toy with an airbrush.

Well technically speaking he needed this robot for his job (to make a UA-cam video, and making UA-cam videos *is* his job) and at least where I live, traveling for work is allowed. So theoretically he didn't break any rules :).
@@Kasiarzynka And if you want to analyze further, Jazza is his own boss and he could have made videos which didn't require going to the store to buy a toy. And just because he is legally allowed to do something doesn't make it the ethically correct choice.
Not that I actually care, I'm just playing devil's advocate. And like the other guy said, completely possible this was filmed a while ago.
He also could've just recorded this before the quarantine. It does take a long time to prepare, make art, and edit these videos. He said airbrushing took days. Plus some days of preparing, and lots of time editing.

I LOVE YOU JAZZA!!
Coptic just seems to be what LetraJet was back in the mid 80's. Drawbacks to the Letrajet was, they depleted markers like crazy. It was a good tool for small areas needed for comps, but that was about it. The airbrush on the other hand has a learning curve (which is fun), but once you learn it it's amazing. Coptic I would use for small comp work when I would be in a time crunch for a comp presentation to a client.

How you talk about learning to use an airbrush is one of the best ways to learn how to use an airbrush. They're fairly complicated machines that can clog easily if the paint dilution is not correct. So taking the hands on time upfront is very effective.

LOVE this video! @ 11 minutes - masking - that is something VERY normal, don't worry. Airbrush painting almost always requires constant masking and re-masking so you can have accuracy in edges, and to control the over-spray. That is absolutely standard operating procedure - you didn't cheat at all - you went pro without even trying! Love your videos, man! You are so encouraging to everyone, and it's wonderful!
When you catch jazza using UA-cam for an airbrush tutorial instead of skill share.
Hey Jazza, long time fan, I remember when you dropped The Composer on NG, still on my profile as a favourite. Anyway, just wanted to tell you, you might prefer learning kinesthetically, but you will learn faster if you incorporate other methods of stimulating your brain at the same time, so don't throw away your trial by error method, but reading or watching a video will supplement that really effectively.

Spitfire was the name of one of my dogs, she was a good dog. We had her when she was only a few months old. She was given to us by a friend. She was a very kind pitbull.
