This is an original Japanese song that was adapted/altered in China. The song carries a fair bit of political freight.
At the end of World War II, the Chinese Communist Party rooted out persons of Japanese descent and expelled them to post-war Japan. One of the persons caught in their drag net was an ethnic Japanese singer/songwriter who was born in China, had never been to Japan and spoke no Japanese at all. She performed under a Chinese name and was quite popular there. The CCP found her out and off she went to Japan, where she became a stranger in a strange land. The song is her message to her Chinese fans. This is the context within which to appreciate the lyrics.
The song, as presented by Dimash, is in Mandarin Chinese. Dimash spoke very little Mandarin in 2017. He was given just one week by the Singer show producers to arrange, practice and present the song. The UA-cam channel 'The Portrait Artist' features a Chinese person who is fluent in both Chinese and English, living in New York; he praises Dimash's pronunciation in this song. (He's also a wonderful artist.)
Gloria Wu's UA-cam channel is eventually discovered by many Dimash fans around the world; she has a rich store of video content about Dimash, and one of her videos provides the backstory for 'Autumn Strong' - clips of Dimash preparing to present the song, and explanations about the song. Some of the songs that Dimash sings are based on real life events. Autumn strong was originally written and composed by Koji Tamaji (could be wrong with the spelling) about a Japanese woman named Yoshi Yamaguchi. This story happened during WW2 and this woman left Japan to live in China under a different name and she was known as the Judy Garland of China. However, after WW2 her identity was revealed and people from China who loved her wanted her deported, she was deported to Japan never to see China again.

Another beautiful and emotional reaction. I never tire of watching you react to Dimash. The song was originally composed in Japanese by Koji Tamaki in 1989. In 1990, it was translated into Cantonese and sang by Jacky Cheung. Next, the song was rewritten and translated for Jacky Cheung to Mandarin under the title “Late Autumn”. In 2004 the Taiwanese singer Terry Lin adapted the song into a new version titled "In Deep Autumn", with lyrics written by Daryl Yao.
When Dimash first heard the song, he was deeply moved by it and the story behind it. In order to show gratitude to his Chinese audience, he learned this song in just one week and delivered a brilliant performance. The song tells the story of Yoshiko Yamaguchi, a beloved Chinese-born Japanese actress, and singer during World War II, who hid her Japanese heritage under the name Li XIanglan. Following the war, when the Chinese became aware of her Japanese heritage, she was accused of being a spy and sentenced to death by firing squad for treason and collaboration with the Japanese; she had been involved in the production of Japanese propaganda films. Thanks to the intervention of influential friends she was cleared of all charges but urged to leave China or risk being lynched.
She resettled in Japan where she would continue to enjoy a successful acting career. In the 1950s, she moved her acting career to Hollywood and Broadway under the name Shirley Yamaguchi but returned to Japan in 1959, retiring from acting. She would go on to become a TV presenter and eventually a politician. She did not return to China for nearly 20 years.
This song is saying goodbye to her Chinese name Li Xianglan and everything she is leaving behind.

A Kazakh song, it is a tribute to the composer of this song, Dimash’s Professor/Mentor/Friend who died from COVID-19 in July 2020. Very emotional, you may need your tissues for this one, I really don’t know how Dimash kept it together, it’s such an emotional performance and Dimash is so very close to tears! The pianist is also a university friend of Dimash’s, so he was also a student of the composer. Dimash was very close to his Professor of Composition. He sang this song for the composer on his 70th birthday, six years earlier. The composer at that time was wary that Dimash was too young, to emotionally do the song justice. Of course, Dimash sang it amazingly and the composer so loved it!

So einen Sänger gibt es nur einmal in 100 Jahren. Das ist nicht alleine nur Talent und Glück so eine Stimme zu haben. Jeder der etwas von Musik versteht , weiß wieviel Jahren es braucht, um so perfekt singen zu können. Das ist jahrelanges Training mit einem Gesangslehrer, viele Jahre Studium um die Musik, Bühnenpräsenz und Tanz auf der Bühne so umsetzen zu können. Nur wenigen gelingt es tatsächlich die Menschen so mitzunehmen, so emotional zu berühren. Dimash seine Stimme geht nicht nur in dein Herz, sie berührt auch deine Seele. Viele Sänger geben ihr bestes auch nach jahrelanger Arbeit, trotzdem erreichen sie nicht die Menschen. Nicht jeder der eine gute Stimme hat, ist für die Showbühne, das Showbusiness geeignet.
Viele wünschten sich einmal in die Charts zu kommen, schaffen es aber nie. Andere haben gleich beim ersten Mal einen One Hit Wonder, können aber danach nie mehr an diesen Erfolg anknüpfen. Ich habe mich schon oft gefragt, warum der 2. Song plötzlich nicht mehr erfolgreich wurde.
Heute weiß ich warum, entweder deshalb weil sich die Fans einen anderen Sänger dahinter vorgestellt hatten, oder weil seine Bühnenpräsenz eben schlecht war.
Denn oft waren die nachfolgenden Songs deutlich besser. Es gibt in der heutigen Zeit nur noch wenige Künstler weltweit, die sich über Jahre halten können, schon gar nicht über Jahrzehnte.
Ich würde gerne mal wissen, ob man in 50 Jahren noch Songs von Lady Gaga hören wird und ihr neue Generationen von Fans die Treue halten, aber auch die Fans der ersten Stunde.
Ich glaube heute gibt es kaum noch Fans die über so viele Jahrzehnte ihrer Band , dem Künstler die Treue halten wie zum Beispiel den Rolling Stones, Abba, Beatles, Elvis Presley.
Ich glaube solche Fans ab 2000 Jahre gibt es heute gar nicht mehr, weil das Angebot an Musik heute so extrem riesig ist. Bei Dimash sieht das völlig anders aus , ich glaube er wird auch noch in 50 Jahren eine große Fangemeinde haben, zu mindestens im asiatischen Raum, in Kasachstan und Russland auch.
Ich möchte zwar nicht übertreiben aber ich glaube und man sieht es an jeder Reaktion der User, wie alle völlig überwältigt davon sind, niemand hätte mich so einem Stimmumfang gerechnet.
Alle Reaktionen auch im Publikum sind völlig überzeugend und er nimmt sie emotional mit, jeder hört ihm gebannt zu, das kann man auch in der Chinesischen Talentshow erkennen.
Ich glaube er ist ein Jahrhundert Talent und spielt in einer Liga mit Michael Jackson, Witney Houston, George Michael, Freddie Mercury. Ich glaube Dimash würde heute allen die Show stehlen. Lionel Ritchie würde heute blaß klingen, wenn er nach Dimash seiner Version, das Original Hello singen.
Was ich an Dimash so bewundere, er singt die Covers nicht 1:1 nach, sondern jedes Cover ist eine eigenständige Dimash Version und er singt diese Cover immer mit großem Respekt vor den Original Künstlern. Ich finde auch seine Art mit seinen Musikern, Tänzern und der Band umzugehen, wirklich einmalig, gerade Stars wie Madonna sind dagegen doch sehr abgehoben gegenüber deren Musikern und Tänzern. Dabei macht es Dimash genau richtig, Respekt zu zeigen, denn ohne sie wäre so ein Somg gar nicht möglich, auch nicht ohne die Menschen und Techniker die zuvor alles aufbauen müssen.

Yes, this is my Top Favorite song of Dimash’s performances. I first Discovered Dimash in 2017 as the Singer contest was still airing and this one made me a Dear for life! I’ve heard it a hundred or more times now and it always leaves me as though I just heard for this first time. I often find this, Love is Like a Dream and Daybreak playing in my mind as I am asleep. Dimash lost TWO MENTORS to COVID 19 in june 2020... They where long time friends and were very close to his hart. "Qaragym Ai" is a tribute to one of these mentors (the song is written by him).

I recommended this song after your first Dimash reaction and waited. Here it is! Thank you! Such a beautiful song and matched with a beautiful reaction from a beautiful heart. Yes I'm happy. This song was well known by the audience and very emotional for them as well obviously. According to some chinese reactors the translation...from original composition in Japanese to Chinese then to English for us to understand it loses a bit of the full emotion, depth and meaning. In other words, the translation in english is much over simplified. For the audience there, it lost nothing. When I first watched...it was without translation (as with all my first Dimash views) because for me it is not needed initially. He brings the emotion and takes me to the right place with his performance alone. This is possibly my favorite of all Dimash I've viewed because of the textures, colors and emotions he brings into it without all the vocal gymnastics he is solely capable of. Just soooooo beautiful.
