  • Shrimp squats are a challenging single leg squat variation that builds quad, glute and hamstring strength while improving balance and lower body mobility. Here, Personal Trainer Danny demonstrates how to do a shrimp squat.
    How To Do Shrimp Squats
    1. Start by standing with your feet hip-width apart, with your hands on your hips or out in front of you.
    2. Shift your weight onto one leg and bend the other leg to bring it behind you, flexing the foot.
    3. Slowly lower down into a deep squat while keeping your raised leg extended out behind you, allowing your knee to drop towards the ground.
    As you lower into the squat, use your hands to help keep your balance and keep your chest lifted.
    4. Drive through your standing heel and push yourself back up to standing, bringing your raised leg back down to the ground. You can use your flexed foot for assistance if required.
    5. Finish the desired reps and repeat on the other side.
