In the UK a lot of campus universities outside cities are built around old stately homes and country houses that were originally owned by the people who founded the university. Maybe the college building is the old house owned by the founder that has been transformed into a law school as the university has been built up around it.
It’s also quite common to have several different campuses belonging to one uni, particularly if it is a city university or one which has undergone significant expansion, eg, Bristol for the former, or Gloucestershire (which is based in two nearby towns). Both incorporate some significantly old historic buildings. My old uni has 5 campuses.
I know it's well beyond when this video was posted, but thought I'd give an explanation that maybe works a bit better in a US historical context: Throughout the 19th century, there were a number of massive land grants for the purposes of building colleges and universities, and this could very well have been one, which would account for the older architectural style. Ofc it doesn't necessarily make sense in such a rural area, but I could see a reality in which such an institution was founded in an ill-fated attempt to bring education to a rural community that simply didn't have the resources to support it, and is only now being revitalized by the arrival of all these new people. It's also possible there used to some larger settlement here that was eventually abandoned, which would further justify the existence of such an old school in the region.
There needs to be Bus line access so students can get to the other parts of the county to shop. Also have you thought about tapping into the train line for passengers? that way you could get out of county students as well. Awesome series overall
Having a shuttle around the campus itself would be good, too. One straight line that connects the farm to the big set of parking lots and another that does a loop would improve accessibility and mobility, especially in winter when it can get painfully cold in Superior.
Presumably, Johnson Aggregates funded the building of the Geologic Research Institute (rather than a geography institute), probably even partially endowing its ongoing activities. The Governor probably conditioned the bequest on the naming of the Institute after her grandfather who founded the company, so it would be the Johnson Geologic Research Institute. Its graduates would have a variety of internships at Johnson Aggregates, with excellent career opportunities after graduation.
I definitely agree with this. A Geologic Research Institute makes much better sense than geography especially considering the history of Superior so far.
I think adding a campus shuttle bus to get from one area of the university to the other would be great. Walkability and bikeability are fantastic, but a shuttle would add some accessibility for folks who have mobility issues, especially in the Superior winters. Also, I like having the elementary school on campus. I could see it being a magnet/charter school where kids come and are taught in some sort of specialized subjects while also allowing education students at the university to gain experience.
Realistically, you need some commercial and office space surrounding or near the university campus. Also include a transit station or passenger rail station nearby for students and faculty in other parts of the county. The waterfront area near the farms could also be a destination spot such as a boardwalk with restaurants and shops turning it into a great escape for the university area.
I was just thinking the campus is missing the little grocery shop and canteen for students to pick up their packs of sweets/energy drinks before class, and their milk and bread to take home after
Suggestions: Because the two high rise dorms spawned-in as red and white buildings…maybe this becomes retroactive continuity for the University’s sports colors. Red & White. Also: Highland? Barksdale? This is retroactive continuity for the University’s mascot. West Highland Terriers! FEAR the bark! 😂
Really loving the series! One piece of feedback on the university neighborhood: there should be corner stores. The pedestrian-orientated strip of shops is great but for people on the far end of the neighborhood that would be a 30-45 + minute walk. Fixing this could also be a great place to discuss the decline of neighborhood shops in NA. For as long as history humans have been selling goods out of their domicile, but in recent decades governments have been restricting the ease of setting up businesses' in single-family neighborhoods.
I have to say, and I'm sure you've heard this quite a bit, but your style of gameplay, design choice, and video editing are amazing. Anyone who has never played these games before can see how much heart you put into your videos and with each upload I'm blown away. While I've been playing City Builders since Sim City on SNES, never before have I looked at things the way you do. The way you describe how things function, and your reasoning behind the choices you make helps me grow as a player. No more do I just pack a city full of grids and wonder why there are congestion issues. No more do I wonder why I'm bleeding money. No more do I feel completely lost. Thank you. I love how you lay out your videos and how every episode has the most perfect transition between segments and accompanying soundtrack. The small jokes are always great, especially when it foreshadows a change you end up making. CPP, you've easily become my favorite creator on the platform this year. Thank you for your time and dedication to the platform and community. Have a great holiday season!
Adding the server farm in the campus site is actually pretty realistic becuase many universities (especially in Europe) actually have huge internet hosting data centres. Also it gives your city better telecommunications! :) (Also I think you should name the campus buildings after famous/important fictional figures from Magnolia county)
not to mention, when the internet was first created it was funded by the american department of defense and used by research insititutions (mainly universities) and certain other organisations who had contracts with the department of defense. Pretty much the only places that even had room for the size of computers back then were universities, so it makes a whole bunch of sense that they would have repurposed the space used to house the original computers into a server farm at some point! All to say I agree with you hahaha
Just wanna say the sped-up montages of you rebuilding the same thing over and over is one of my favorite parts of your videos. Really makes me feel better about my own struggles with getting the game to do what I want 😂
As for the clashing college and uni aesthetics I think I can speak on this! I go to a Canadian university and this is actually very common in my area, the original university is an older more traditional campus with some really old brick and mortar buildings but as it’s expanded out, it’s become more modern looking. In fact the old engineering office wing is located directly beside a large sky scraper looking tower with full wall glazing. There are a few colleges scattered around the area not far from the university that are also very old and almost Victorian. The area that I live was actually an old Scottish settlement so I think there’s a lot of European influence especially for the architecture of the vocational college near the newer university! I think it’s a cool opportunity to use the college as a historical contrast to the quickly developing county, maybe it’s a memorial campus for one of the original trail blazers in Magnolia
Same here in Italy in some northern Italian campuses; ancient buildings from like the 1400s combined with laboratory/technical buildings that were built in 1960s/70s concrete brutalist style.
My university is pretty similar too! It's about 120 years old and the oldest buildings are very traditional. Right next door you have 40s-50s brick, 60s-70s brutalist, and across the highway you have modern sandstone. Even the newer buildings meant to mimic the look of the older buildings on the quad are still obviously modern in comparison. It's honestly rather eclectic and helps add to the character and story of the university, so I think it's pretty realistic here.
The university I went to here in Germany is the same. Main buildings are from the times of the kingdom of prussia (1750, 1800ish) and have been modernized while the most modern building was built between 2000 and 2010.
As a current student of a mountain town university, nothing uplifts me more than the 5 flights of stairs I need to climb to go from building to building! Great build as always, love to see such care put into the university.
43:49 That is a *ridiculously* large roundabout. It’s the same size as the football field! Especially for the traffic it gets, a smaller one would definitely do.
I live in a college town in the South. One thing I noticed in the main neighborhood surrounding the University is that the houses were originally spaced apart like you did in the build, but as time moved on and the University grew, you can tell the demand for houses increased and the neighborhoods are more densely populated with houses in between other houses. Always love your content! Can't wait for the next build.
Can I say... I loved this Magnolia County series and can't wait to see how this city grows! I have a few suggestions for you though, feel free to use the ones you like the most. 1. Placing a medical university around the campus, to boost healthcare across the area. 2. Keep an eye on potential high school upgrades, otherwise college and university buildings could struggle with a lack of students. 3. Connecting a bus line from the county's train station to the campus. 4. Placing a public train station near the campus, to allow more transport options to the university. 5. Bike lanes in the county, especially on some roads around the city. 6. Use development points for police headquarters, fire station, and hospital.
@CityPlannerPlays, I love the college town you made! Only suggestion I would have is adding another passenger rail station by the college area and link up different sections of your university and main town with a bus station. My alma mater used a lot of public transit and, as a student, it was a great amenity to have--especially during the cold winter days.
Making school and university campuses is BY FAR my favourite thing in Cities: Skylines as a student myself. You set the standard as always! This campus looks stunning, and I love the fact that you went the extra mile with "SUPERIOR". I'm gonna copy that in my build as well! This is THE best CS2 series on UA-cam which is amazing as Magnolia County isn't even big! It doesn't even have 10k pop. Just speaks about the attention to detail and your quality
CPP Appreciation Post: Being a consumer of a wide variety of content, this is genuinely my favorite channel. The love and care that goes into every video, the story telling and ‘commitments to the bit’, and the effort that goes into every aspect of this channel - those are the things that make it feel like we are along for the ride with you. This is the one channel that I interact with (liking every video, commenting, notifications) because I just sit with the feeling that I want to help you succeed. A lot of work goes into your content and we really appreciate you for it. These series are fun, educational, and just overall a good thing to experience. Thank you for all of your hard work and for brining us along for the ride! Proud to be a Verde Beach resident!
Great episode! I noticed that the central plaza in front of the main building would almost definitely have desire paths form as students cut through the grassy area in the middle to get to adjacent buildings on a straighter path. Perhaps you could add some diagonal paths in the corners to keep the grass from being trampled PS. The university I used to go to had a campus that used to be a military training camp until a few decades ago. The barracks were converted to administrative buildings, smaller buildings with a couple classrooms or offices for startups sponsored by the university, and the largest one was made into a secondary building for the law faculty. There was also a lot of unused space, so they built several larger buildings for some of the faculties that outgrew the main campus (CS being the main one), a library, a massive dormitory and a park. As a result, you get some very old classicist buildings next to very modern ones.
The path layout in the quad looks great! Although, I feel like you'd definitely see some desire paths going straight through the oval unless you fill it with snakes or something
The paths look great but as a student I can say they won't be followed unless there is some restrictions. Just wish there was a bit more logic in the pathway😅
I'm excited to see a build in CS:2 where you integrate a University into an urban area. Portland State University in downtown Portland, OR is a great example of a campus integrated into a dense urban core. The bonus is that the entire community gets to enjoy many of the amenities that the University naturally provides such as farmer's markets, festivals; restaurants and cafes; entertainment, art, and theatre; even charitable organizations like food banks and low-cost medical clinics. Universities can provide more than just degrees and job opportunities to their neighborhood.
Not sure if it’s just my experience, but I feel like most larger universities have way more dorms across campus. Especially as they grow they add more over time, so you could add more around the edges to show that natural growth.
I think a great athletics name for the university would be the Superior A&M Shellbacks, a shellback is a nickname for a veteran sailor. Love the build!
@@PsychoWarper, it would be great to have an arena that could be used for both hockey and basketball. Also, I can't wait for a better sports stadium DLC I figure as the state university of Superior, it should have a D-1 Football Program that would be pretty popular, therefore needing a larger football stadium. Also, where are all the baseball stadiums?
One thing I wanna mention. Walkability is heavily influenced by the presence of shade. Adding wide limb trees along pedestrian pathways makes things soooo much more walkable and helps prevent heat island
A great idea would be to add some row homes, maybe as you increase the population of Magnolia County, to act as some off-campus housing for students. Maybe later down the line when public transit buses to the university are added, or a train station. Lots of colleges have a ton of public transit options for commuting students, and row-housing off campus apartments for students are common in universities near highly-dense cities, for example, Iona College near New York. Just some thoughts :)
Governor Johnson looks exactly like my coworker. You can't fool me, Kathy! This build was awesome. I absolutely love how you used the paths and assets to make a college campus. So cool!
I usually save his videos for weekends or when I have time after work to play for exactly that reason 😂 I know I'll be inspired and sucked into the game for 4+ hours.
Love the build! One comment is that any midwest campus of this size would have A LOT more parking around the football field. The Big House holds over 100,000 people! I also agree that the campus needs some bus lines.
😂 I'm binge watching this series atm. And the last episode you ended with "thanks for hanging out with me when there's a million things you could do" and I'm like PLEASE DON'T REMIND ME 😂 With that said, thanks for taking the time to create these videos. Your content kinda feels like home these days. 💛
The college elementary school, I would rename it as a, "college daycare" building. Sine colleges will provide daycare for their students, it would be logical that elementary school. Your governors name should be part of that daycare to get votes too.
I always come home from work and check if you or Biffa have released a new video so that I can watch it whilst having lunch❤ thank you for all of your hard work and allowing my brain to take a break😅
This is so neat of an idea. I tried some similar basing my university off of University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and I made another medical campus based off of CU Denver Anschutz medical campus. The UCCS campus was very difficult because they built it into the side of a mess. So, I had to learn to make the topography respect me.
Dude! You have completely turned me off of any other city skylines UA-cam channels. Now I cannot “unsee” the uneven and highly sloped roads and turns and buildings and just even the walking paths. This is probably,in my view, BY FAR the best UA-cam channel for city skylines content.I wish you all the best and I hope you will continue to make these videos. Thanks.
@CityPlannerPlays you should do a series where you tell a storyline and we each have to build whatever is in the story line each week. Then we can compare how each of our cities came out and how we interpreted the storyline
35:40 Mentioning Bryn Mawr reminded me, I've wanted to see you do a build inspired by the King of Prussia and greater Philadelphia area since I moved here a few years ago.
Hey Phil, with all that neighborhood housing and student housing, I know the university I attended had a on campus fire station to serve the school area
I’m really loving the CS2 content! The care and thought you put into your builds is well worth the time and effort! The city is looking great. Have you ever considered making videos about some of the more interesting cities in the world? Purely from a city planning/layout perspective, I would find such things fascinating
Man I can't tell you how excited I am to watch this tonight. I work in law enforcement and I'm at work right now, it's super stressful today and seeing this pop up just made my day.
I recently got into this game so of course I’m getting videos recommended. I just spent an entire Sunday watching the first few videos of this series and the time flew by. I feel like I’m watching an actual story of a town being built. The detail, the logic, the explanation of zoning, everything is top notch.
There is something about making a city and writing a story around it. I had a random street corner which I had a dog park which gad two NPC stuck on. Made a whole story up how the guy was proposing to his girlfriend and I made area up as much as I could for a wedding! Going around my city and adding little story lines
Great video. One of my favourites of the series Two things: - Isn’t it a bit odd to have an elementary school on campus? Maybe it would make more sense to put in that neighbourhood for professors (would be another draw for the neighbourhood) - maybe instead of a farm right next to the beautiful river, wouldn’t it be more picturesque and indeed realistic to build a big and beautiful park where students hang out?
As someone who has been having a rough year with health problems, i always look forward to your videos. I love the story behind each episode, and the ways you have inspired me creatively since finding your channel are endless. I can ingore the pain and just get swept away in city building! 🎉
Dude... I am so, so impressed with your creativity and most of all your ability to see a layout before it's there. You have great talent for seeing what *could* be, and then using the tools available to make it happen. Keep all of this coming!
You could replace the clinic with a hospital and make it a "teaching" hospital and school of medicine. Another option or suggestion would be to add a fire department near the police station or clinic and have a "Public Safety" School. Could also just rename those buildings like "Magnolia Police Academy" or "Bend Fire Academy" Great build and video! Loving this series
Where is Magnolia County in Superior? As one of your viewers from Canada, I'd love to know if you ever make a border city with Ontario. Though maybe that'll have to wait for your CSII modded series? You'd need a Tim Hortons asset after all... 😊
I’ve mostly been watching this series at incredibly strange hours of the morning while I’m up feeding my newborn son. Keeps my brain spinning about ideas for my own city. Great work!
There is audio, but it's still processing the video, so that might be the issue. Very sorry, but it should be ready shortly! I didn't realize it would release to members before processing
Beautiful, I love it. Only one nitpick is lack of an area for bus stops. I don't know, maybe students drive more in America, but as a poor student I sure couldn't afford to have a car lol.
Looks amazing. As a student of an agriculture university that has many plots inside our city, I would recommend adding some more buildings next to the farmyard. I would remove the field between the parking lot and farmyard for more grass and maybe zone some office? Lots of the time agriculture companies have research spaces on campus and on these plots.
I don't play cs 2 myself but i gotta say watching these builds is just so much fun and relaxing. the satisfaction you get after building something nice must be amazing.
This was a very impressive build only made possible by your attention to detail including but not limited to browsing all the building assets to find ones that worked. Commitment paid off, this looks very good. My only criticism is that you pitched earlier in the video the roundabout as a main entrance but it ends up just having a tiny road connecting it to the campus. If this really is a flagship university, then aesthetics would probably be at least somewhat accounted for to make sure visitors (future students?) to the campus think it looks nice/impressive coming in through the main entrance. Even something like a gate (if they have one) and a larger road with something at the end (could be a small visitor's center) will help make that entrance from the highway look more main. Right now I would think that based on where the parking and larger road is the back of the technical college was the main entrance.
Sweet build! This university reminds me of Michigan Tech and its main priority to develop engineers for the nearby mines. I would imagine a community would spur up around the university for off-campus housing and plenty of commercial within walking distance.
One tip for the line tool. There is a "rotation" option. Every object is rotated by the designated angle refered to the last object. This will help making your tree lines more alive and realistic, as the lines look more natural and not like soldiers at drill.
OMG this is so cool looking. I really loved watching this grow from a single building all the way to a massive community. The landscaping at the end really polished off the realistic look and feel.
This is *so* wonderfully creative. I've ended up deciding that I prefer to play other city/settlement builders over Skylines, but I love to see what you're able to do with it. Currently watching the whole Magnolia County series!
The College where I am currently enrolled was built sometime in the 1800's, and as part of it, it had a building similar-ish to the college here in CS2, Presently, the original building that the college was in (when it was only the one building), serves some sort of role for Alumni. The best part is that it was started as a dedicated school to train new teachers so having it be part of the Administration makes plenty of sense.
This was so much fun to watch. Watching a campus be born out of the creative utilization of different buildings and thoughtful landscaping was just mesmerizing. I would have never guessed that so many buildings could be placed without vehicle access. Yet you placed so many and it still looks so natural. I'm sure everyone in Magnolia County and in the new University were holding their collective breaths during that storm that spawned a tornado. Perhaps the college gained some interest in meteorology because of this near-disaster? One thing that just bugged my OCD - The southwestern corner of the quad is missing a tree to mirror the other corners. Nitpicking, I know, but something I think the university landscaping crew would also notice.
Great episode! I really liked the abundance of pedestrian paths - it’s often overlooked by many who focus solely on creating roads for vehicles. Also, I’d like to point out that having only 4-5 commercial spots seems a bit scarce for such an area. I’d suggest adding more. Additionally, wouldn’t it be great to connect the university area with the other side of the riverbank? Or perhaps create a promenade where students can stroll and relax.
Love this campus build! As someone who went to a small school in Michigan, this build reminds me of my alma mater, even down to the farms and tornado from my freshman year! Glad you went with veggies, we had a dairy farm and the students did not appreciate the smell of "dairy air". The giant hill is going to be a blast during the winter.
As someone who goes to Oklahoma state university. Seeing you add farms is awesome. If you look at land owned by the university. At least half of not more are owned by the school. So seeing it on your university is really cool. Merry Christmas!!
I love this series. I have adhd so when I play Cities Skylines I get easily distracted and overwhelmed with so many things. Playing alongside these builds has really helped me focus on certain aspects and challenged me to think differently about the game as a whole. Also, missed opportunity to add the medical research facility to the campus :3
As someone who goes to Uni in Ann Arbor, I love the walkability of the university in Magnolia County. It is something cities desperately need in the US.
I am a bit late to watching this series, but I must say, this is a fantastical build ! Love the use of non-university buildings, the walkability and the absolute madness on landscaping !!
I'm a new subscriber and I don't usually comment on videos, but I just have to say that watching you play this game is extremely therapeutic. It has also changed the way that I play the game entirely. The way that you take your time to focus on the little things and how you get extremely creative with the tools that you have (Writing Superior with the paths was an insanely good idea.) are what make all your builds really special. Glad that I found this channel and you'll have a longtime viewer in me! Can't wait for the next video!
Amazing! At first I didn't like the CS2 content compared to CS1 because there wasn't that same level of detail, especially with things like the university campuses. But as always you turned obstacles into assets. The campus looks amazing! It honestly feels better than anything that was possible before!
Very interesting take on a campus. I would have never thought to use that much pedestrian street, in fear of CIMs not walking such long distances. Three* things I'd like to suggest adding. 1. A small livestock farm. As you yourself say this is university farming, and livestock are an important part of the "ground to table" education. Doesn't have to be a major farm by any means, just enough to have a small amount of the most common animals such as chickens, pigs and cows to serve as a teaching tool. 2. A public transport platform plaza. Somewhere for students from near and far to get on and off a bus heading off into the town, the intercity train station or to a neighboring city via bus. 3. Maybe a bit more commercial space? After all students are there 24/7, so a plaza surrounded by small cafés, restaurants and convenience stores would make sense. Saving students from needing to head into the town proper to get every day items.
Been really enjoying this series and this has been a particularly satisfying episode. The skill and creativity that went into making the campus is so inspiring for what I'll attempt for my own playthroughs.
I love the pedestrian roundabout, I think it looks great and adds character. It feels like the place where you might see a fountain or a statue, or a particularly famous tree that the students believe gives good luck to their sports teams.
The build looks great! I like the idea of ''Superior'' being written in landscaping, but right now it feels a little bare. I think it would make sense to make it into a little pretend park space, or maybe just framing it with more landscaping so that it looks even more like a deliberate and special landmark that the city would have planned for. Keep up the good work! :D
As someone who used to work in a dorm for several years, the lack of proper road access to the dorms would be a nightmare during move in, move out, and end of semesters. Non-dedicated parking for the dorms is also a huge pain during the day.
I work at a university campus and one thing I think you’re missing is a pedestrian path for the chancellor to walk or take a bike or golf cart to work. Around the same time as students arrive and leave, traffic can get crazy and the chancellor can easily benefit from a path less travelled.
Nothing is more uplifting than Helium.
Great build as always! Love the utilization of non-university buildings.
Hydrogen
Dangit.. 😂
Hydrogen may have something to say about that. It's bursting with uplifting energy 😉
@Dafwog2013 Periodically I make mistakes. We can only go up from here. Ba-dum-tss 🥁

Great way to implement the different style of the college!
Even when they weren't, many modern British universities have a Victorian technical college as there founding institution

Ofc it doesn't necessarily make sense in such a rural area, but I could see a reality in which such an institution was founded in an ill-fated attempt to bring education to a rural community that simply didn't have the resources to support it, and is only now being revitalized by the arrival of all these new people. If you live in UK say "bottle of water"
The fact that roughly 1/8th of Magnolia County's population comes from the university really does make this feel like a small college town.
20% of my city’s population is university students. There are over 60,000 students here
There needs to be Bus line access so students can get to the other parts of the county to shop.

Or a small train station the train tracks are right there
An intercity train station is a must! This.
There is a lot of money to be made through education in CS2.

I definitely agree with this. A Geologic Research Institute makes much better sense than geography especially considering the history of Superior so far.
That makes sense the science building at my former community College was built by one of the contract companies for the super fund site
The Johnson Geologic Research Institute, named for her Grandfather, Cave Johnson... an eclectic man who owned a salt mine in upper Michigan.
I think adding a campus shuttle bus to get from one area of the university to the other would be great. Walkability and bikeability are fantastic, but a shuttle would add some accessibility for folks who have mobility issues, especially in the Superior winters.

@@CRA3d Yeah, but considering he has a traintrack right next to the university, a train is also a possibility.

I forgot how much I miss you going ham and detailing large areas. So pleasing. I am submitting my application to Superior State University now!
It's so cool this small (in size of growth) episodes but with a lot of detailing, makes the world of Magnolia feel real!

Also true in the US! If you look at the list of download sites for any major Linux distribution, a large number of them will be universities.

I love when the music starts too 😂😂😂
@@dzed468I love the nintendo music, and that it speeds up in the montage lol
Main buildings are from the times of the kingdom of prussia (1750, 1800ish) and have been modernized while the most modern building was built between 2000 and 2010.
one university in Sydney Australia is called the tower uni (UTS) because it is built right next to central station and the only space was up.
As a current student of a mountain town university, nothing uplifts me more than the 5 flights of stairs I need to climb to go from building to building! Great build as always, love to see such care put into the university.
Do you also have to literally walk uphill both ways? Mine was like that too lol
I am absolutely loving the political intrigue that you've added into this build and the "multiverse" of the different cities across games! Keep it up!
Can't wait for the next build.
i think the road going to the telescope should take priority route over the driveway to the chancellors house
I want to live in a world where that would be true but in real life the chancellor would make sure she gets priority.
@@CarlLevitt Not sure, she wouldn't want a bunch of people arriving in her house by just taking the road no ?
@@azzarys To be fair I'm pretty sure the house would be there for at least a decade or two before the telescope.
You should add a section of houses to the campus somewhere for the fraternities and sororities!
I thought he was going to with the Rock Star Mansion. I normally use the unique buildings for that reason
2×1 townhouses look pretty good ho estly
What an amazing build! I would expect some public transport going to the university though, maybe a train station or a tram line to the city center
@CityPlannerPlays, I love the college town you made! Only suggestion I would have is adding another passenger rail station by the college area and link up different sections of your university and main town with a bus station. My alma mater used a lot of public transit and, as a student, it was a great amenity to have--especially during the cold winter days.
I agree- but personally I would do that when the area grows a bit more, as it's still just a small town with 7000-8000 population
This
Making school and university campuses is BY FAR my favourite thing in Cities: Skylines as a student myself.
CPP Appreciation Post:
Being a consumer of a wide variety of content, this is genuinely my favorite channel.
Perhaps you could add some diagonal paths in the corners to keep the grass from being trampled
PS.
There's also a couple spots where the diagonal paths don't really go anywhere and you have to almost backtrack to continue on
The paths look great but as a student I can say they won't be followed unless there is some restrictions.
As a Michigan Tech grad, this new university would be an obvious next rival next to Northern Michigan. We need Hockey assets!
True, we need an Ice Arena asset
So cool!
You are truly an artist. I don't play C:S much but I always love watching your videos. Thank you sir!
Thank you so much!! Really appreciate that and I'm glad you're enjoying the videos!
The story you are telling with this city is very interesting with the depth of thought into it. I really enjoy your videos.
The elementary school could be flavoured as an "on campus daycare" lots of universities in Ontario have them
My college was known for it’s teacher accreditation program - we had an on-campus elementary school for student teachers.
My dad went to the elementary and middle school attached to the university his parents worked at, this definitely happens!
My old university had on campus childcare and a primary (elementary) school at the rear of its site.
My college had an early childhood development and education building.
It’s hard to finish your episodes - because I get five minutes in and get inspired so it takes me a day or two to watch one video. This is good.
Same. 😂😂 then I slowly realize I'm not as talented but I still enjoy the sort motivation burst.
I also agree that the campus needs some bus lines.
this might be the best campus I've seen yet!
😂 I'm binge watching this series atm. And the last episode you ended with "thanks for hanging out with me when there's a million things you could do" and I'm like PLEASE DON'T REMIND ME 😂
With that said, thanks for taking the time to create these videos. Your content kinda feels like home these days. 💛
I'm going to pin the most uplifting comment that I see. Read, set GO!
Your #1
The college elementary school, I would rename it as a, "college daycare" building.
Most uplifting comment
As a former public servant and someone who works on land use at a regional level, I appreciate your narrative for this series!
You have outdone yourself this this Phil. Epic campus build and it must have taken you hours to have completed it.
The shoutout to Bryn Mawr made me smile so big! I grew up super closeby, you nailed it.
I’m really loving the CS2 content! The care and thought you put into your builds is well worth the time and effort! The city is looking great.
Have you ever considered making videos about some of the more interesting cities in the world? Purely from a city planning/layout perspective, I would find such things fascinating
This is seriously one of my favorite CS2 videos so far. Straight up amazing details by you as always.
Univercity Tour - I see what you did there. Sweet!
That is one beautiful university you crafted there.
Man I can't tell you how excited I am to watch this tonight. I work in law enforcement and I'm at work right now, it's super stressful today and seeing this pop up just made my day.
I was right thinkingI think it would look nice if you plan A rectangle of some other foliage around your stenciled superior. Spectacular
One of my favourites of the series
Two things:
- Isn’t it a bit odd to have an elementary school on campus? Maybe it would make more sense to put in that neighbourhood for professors (would be another draw for the neighbourhood)
- maybe instead of a farm right next to the beautiful river, wouldn’t it be more picturesque and indeed realistic to build a big and beautiful park where students hang out?
Great build! Enjoyed the landscape editing to the music beat.
As someone who has been having a rough year with health problems, i always look forward to your videos. I love the story behind each episode, and the ways you have inspired me creatively since finding your channel are endless. I can ingore the pain and just get swept away in city building! 🎉
Lovely campus! It should be connected o the main city through public transportation too.
Dude... I am so, so impressed with your creativity and most of all your ability to see a layout before it's there. You have great talent for seeing what *could* be, and then using the tools available to make it happen. Keep all of this coming!
I love the campus! Maybe name the sports fields at the campus, like FC Superior for the soccer field and The Superiors for the football field.
Great work!
Is it just my phone or is there no audio in the video?
There is audio, but it's still processing the video, so that might be the issue. Very sorry, but it should be ready shortly! I didn't realize it would release to members before processing
mc is becoming my favorite series so far. this build was very satisfying to watch. im very excited to see how developed this city gets in the future.
Hospital on campus as school of medicine
I think you are a wonderful person and watching these videos are what I look forward to most. I wish I could live in your builds sometimes.
I love these videos and the engagement with the community. This is literally one of my favorite channels
Love the build! I laughed out loud when you started writing “Superior” on the hillside. Reminded me of my alma mater. So creative!
Thanks!
Thank you!
This can only be described as a TRUE LABOUR OF LOVE. It's a really stellar job.
Thank you so much! Glad that you enjoyed the build!
Phil, this was a gorgeous build. The SUPERIOR on the side of the hill was top shelf. This was good stuff.
SUPERIOR looks amazing in the snow! Merry Christmas!
Love the sprawl! It's nice to see everything with room to breathe rather than jammed into too small an area.
