You know it's something when Ashleigh Ball voices both AJ and RD and has to sound like RD acting as AJ without sounding completely like AJ and keeping her RD voice 😅
"A Hearth'a Warming Tail" is the best episode parody of "A Christmas Carol" I ever seen! All of the characters did their roles perfectly and I love of them songs!❤❤❤
I actually really like this Rainbow Episode. 1. It shows that the journey doesn't end when you reach your destination. 2. The nicknames are absolutely the sort of things that corps members give eachother. (Irl, NO one in the millitary gets a cool nickname). 3. Rainbow learns to be a bit more humble, but her reaction to the name actually makes sense, since it's coincidentally one she was given as a child by bullies, so she has negative associations with it! Overall, a good episode, and one of the few that doesn't show the Wonderbolts as arrogant or incompetent!
I remember a lot of the dislike for Newbie Dash when it first aired was a combination of Rainbow not being at her best when her confidence is shaken, the Wonderbolts not having the best reputation among fans at the time due to some of their previous behavior (with the episode not helping that at all), and a lot of people not being familiar with military culture (which I imagine a lot of people forget the Wonderbolts are).
Honestly rainbow is a little too relatable😭 she struggles to learn and even if she's pretty calm and chill typically, she can get in her head easily and lose the confidence that makes her thrive (20% cooler%)
1. Ah the episode where RD's long awaited childhood dream had finally come true, This episode was pretty relatable but the parts where RD imitated the other members of the Mane 6 were funny, And sure RD was given a crappy nickname that stuck with her for most of her Wonderbolt career, but at least she wasn't the only one with a Nickname. 2. "A Hearth's Warming Tail" is yet another one of my favorite episodes of season 6 I mean it may have it's ups and downs like all episodes do. But it's still a fun episode to watch, I especially love the songs every time i listen to any of the songs from this episode it made me appreciate how much effort the cast and crew put into making them. And I loved that the story of A Hearth's Warming Tail was the mlp equivalent of A Christmas Carol and it was awesome that they made the spirits of Hearth's Warming look like AJ, Pinkie Pie and Luna those 3 characters were perfect for the parts and of course the lessons the Spirits teach Snowfall are good two because Snowfall learned that just because she had a rotten past that's no reason to hate the holidays, and she learned that her actions in the present can have a huge effect on those she interacts with, and finally Snowfall learns that her actions could also have grave effects on the future. But anyway that's why i like the episode!
Newbie Dash proved there are ramifications on being part of the Wonderbolts. You can be yourself, but also respect the atmosphere of this new surrounding. Though I gotta respect how Ashleigh Ball managed to segue RD imitating AJ. Two characters she voiced becoming one is not an easy task for any voice actor.
That stallion at the end of “A Hearth’s Warming Tail” isn’t Dash’s dad, his name is Rainbow Blaze and Dash was his protégé. He mentored her in flying, and he was also in the episode “Games Ponies Play”. Her dad hadn’t appeared yet at this point in the series.
Also tbh if I were dash I'd probably ask them to stop💀 like I don't know you like that please don't talk to me that way LMAO but I'd also be SCARED to tell spitfire "no you can't", she'd KO me.
Mean nicknames are a form of disrespect and everyone should learn to not give them to others(well, except to horrible people, like dictators, some politicians,anti-lgbtqi+ beings, etc.),expecially when they(the mean nicknames)are previously used by bullies and the affected person would only want to forget them(nicknames, bullies, etc.)
I agree that rarity is my favorite, but applejack is the most impressive in my opinion. Ashley voices both the characters, so she has to make rainbow sound like she’s imitating aj, without slipping into aj’s voice herself.
23:36 it’s actually theorized that that’s RD’s uncle or some other relative because of reasons i won’t say in case it’s spoilers. The only canon info there is is that he was some sort of mentor to her
Newbie Dash is one of the most over-hated episodes in the show. The episode actually sends a good message about how you need to be in a good mindset and show good behavior in order to succeed, no matter how talented you are. Even though it looks cruel, the Wonderbolts bullying Rainbow Dash is also a good thing because it gives her more motivation and determination to succeed as a Wonderbolt.
Plus, you're dream job might not go the way you want. Once the going gets tough that's when you have to prove yourself. I didn't even know this episode was so hated! It's great. I have seen Maverick now as well, and the nicknames make even more sense.
Everypony else goes through trials and tribulations and Scoot barely reacts to them getting picked on but the one pony who can handle it gets picked on and it's the end of the world at first. Rainbow is a tough lesbian. She'll be fine and she learned not to take it personal. More people need to learn that lesson and that's why I love this episode. She learns humility and how to embrace everything about herself good and bad. Besides, at least her Nickname wasn't Sh*tfire
Personally it's my least favorite finale, but I was also very much not a Starlight fan when it first aired too. So that definitely affected my opinion of it.
Fun thing about the Hearths Warming Tail episode, it originally aired in May I think it was. They had this holiday episode, but the season was released in the middle of the year; not much they could do.
Yeah in those training groups you gotta own the nickname during my Highschool NJROTC I was called helo cuz I caught the side of my head while doing helicopters with the practice show rifle
LOL. I remember when I was in AFJROTC, we nicknamed a guy Pinecone because we were doing ropes course at leadership camp and he fell on a pinecone and it scraped him up good.
So a patron probably already made a chart but in case you're curious Rainbow dash and Applejack share the same regular va and singing va Fluttershy and pinkie pie share the same voice actor, but only pinkie pie's singing va is different! The reason I'm pretty sure was because pinkie pie's singing voice was too much of a strain for the regular va. Also fun fact, Rarity and Luna share the same voice actor, in case you were wondering why you thought you heard rarity's voice actor when it was Luna speaking. But, they have 2 different singing voice actors

one thing i really wish we got to see was pound and pumpkin actually growing up. they should be at least 2 (based on the number of distinct hearths warming eves that have passed). why do they still look like newborns
I think the "hate" of Newbie Dash might actually be referring to the episode's cringe humor for which it has in spades. The initial teasing, the impressions and the failed stunt no doubt caused a lot of secondhand embarrassment. Even I had misgivings at first that were later squashed by repeated viewings. And now it's a classic episode as well as an important one for character development. And it even slipped in a subtle shit joke near the end, eg Spitfire's unmentioned nickname.
Idk if you know yet, but the reason ppl were arguing about whether or not that one pony was Rainbow's dad is because that is her dad, but in later seasons his design gets a revamp rather than using the generic male model.
01:30 - There are many that have had a derp moment like this. 02:50 - Only the finest for cloud-dwelling equines. ;) 06:43 - I think this is the ONLY Highlight of this episode. Ahsleigh Ball doing Ahsleigh Ball impersonating Ahsleigh Ball! In the previous generation, Rainbow Dash had Rarity's personality. 09:38 - Pinkie's sense is taking over. That cloud's gonna come in handy. So... Newbie Dash... Why does everyone hate it? Because Rainbow was being Rainbow. Because of how this would look for the original demographic: "It is fine to call other's teasing names." Yes, RD got her dream! And it could've ended on that growing grin for a lot of people. The biggest problem in this episode has been a lack of communication. Yes, we know RD is not one to reveal her weaknesses or feelings, but had she spoken up and said that "Rainbow Crash" is what she was called by bullies and it hurts her, either they'd change their strategy or they would explain then and there how the military will haze you with a nickname based on your first impressions (the inauguration process). This episode was pretty much more directed to those who have been to boot camp. And now... A Christmas Carol! 14:43 - Oooh yeah! Cameos Galore! Sherlock Holmes and Watson on the right. 14:58 - Maybe both? I'm sure if Scrooge had the political power he'd pull the holiday off the calendars. 17:10 - Severus Snape just hates everything... If so........ -tell all soccer moms- XD 17:58 - And that would be Tiny Tim. 18:05 - "Cider's flowing, this is living" Swedish translation: "Det är gott och supa, pojkar!" XD 19:41 - Tara Strong doing a Pinkie Pie impression had her going for her Powerpuff Girl voice. 20:56 - That's what you do at parties and gatherings: Gossip behind backs. 23:26 - Ah, you've spotted him. Hmmm... Yes... Didn't we see somepony like that in a flashback? When they were going to get the Equestria Games going in The Crystal Empire, Rainbow was telling how Cloudsdale was rejected. Lil' Fil' RD climbed on the back of a rainbow-maned stallion. So this could be a family member of some sort... some.... sort....... Also, Love This Episode! Put it on repeat on some abandoned device hanging on a wall somewhere! XD
The second one is obviously bassed of a Christmas carol.... Big time Apple jack ghost of Christmas past Pinkie ghost of Christmas present Luna ghost of Christmas future (aka grim reaper)
My only real issue with the Christmas Carol episode is that I feel like the story kind of misses something when the Scrooge analogue changes their ways not because of a genuine change of heart, but because if they don't, evil ice spirits will kill everyone. That said, all the songs in that episode are total bangers, and it has what is possibly my favourite song in the entire show (Luna's Future), so I can't really dislike it.
ehhh at first i didn't understand why so many ppl hate on newbie dash but after rewatching, i totally get it. i mean- the whole gimmick of giving ppl nicknames based off embarrassing things they've done is fine considering it's all in good, lighthearted fun, but i still feel like the wonderbolts should've been sensible enough to see how upset rainbow got over the nickname + it doesn't help that they literally only referred to her by her new nickname while the others were referred to by their names? and while i agree that rainbow could've told them she was uncomfortable with the nickname because it's the same one bullies used to make fun of her, it can be hard to admit you were bullied (speaking from personal experience) especially for someone like rainbow who has a bit of an ego and always wants to appear 'cool', and considering she did kind of of make an ass of herself during her first day, i feel like it just made it even harder for her to admit it. i think it would've been cool if the episode instead ended with rainbow confiding in the wonderbolts-- or just spitfire-- about why she's uncomfortable with the nickname so they give her a new one, or let her know that it's all in lighthearted fun and that her past bullies don't define her, but they can use a new nickname if she wishes-- or idk SOMETHING. overall its just a complicated episode & might just be apart of military culture (tho seeing rainbow imitate her friends was a treat)
Honestly i feel bad for the bolts ( especially soarin bcs hes my favorite and its canon he overworks himself so this just feels like to much for my man 😭 ) AND dash, RD is just tryna fit in she doesnt get their “traditions”/rules or inside jokes yet and the bolts think its all in good fun and genuinely just think shes being odd and its honestly probably stressed some of em out a bit, but geez that entire episode was just a giant miscommunication lmao
Cool timing. I just heard a story about a Pilot who wanted to be called "Hand of god" Well, the "Hand" stuck, buuuuut... instead of "of god" the second part was... shotened. To "job" Do i believe that story? Actually: yes, absolutely. Military be like that.
In this episode it shows that Starlight is cooler, bad than good, she was born to be a villan and nothing more PD: You are already a Derpy Star, the brigntest of all
I was a bit disappointed when I first started watching that Scrooge episode just because the Scrooge story is overdone, but it's one of my favorites now. They did such a great job with it. AJ's song and Luna's song are two of my favorites from the show.
Scoot! I recommend watching Star vs the Forces of Evil!! It’s a really great cartoon, one of my favourites and quite unique. I feel you would enjoy it :)
Honestly, that rainbow dash episode didn’t age well. There’s some expects that I like, but the other stuff didn’t age well. There’s always going to be awesome episodes, then that occasional episode that didn’t age well.
Newbie Dash *really* killed my likeness for the Wonderbolts! The way how they were acting towards Rainbow was disgraceful! What makes me hate this episode even more is the ending where Rainbow accepts her nickname and stays apart of the Wonderbolts! WTF?! If *I* was her, *I* wouldn't stand for that! *I* would just quit being part of the-so-called-Wonderbolts and never *ever* come back! Heck, I think that she should have joined the Shadowbolts instead, yeah I know they were made-up, but if they were real now that would have been cool. This episode, in my opinion, is the most WORST episode of the show! Though, I guess if we didn't have this episode we wouldn't have gotten Parental Glidence (And I absolutely love that episode)... But, all the same, I think the Shadowbolts should have been in the episode instead of the... *Cough-Cough* ...Wonderbolts...
Well, the Wonderbolts are actually part of the Air Force, and NOBODY gets a cool call sign there, which is well demonstrated in the episode itself. The call sign in the Air Force is usually assigned in honor of some failure of the pilot, or a trait of his character, appearance, etc., so Dash was very lucky to get away with such a gentle call sign. And dissatisfaction with one’s call sign usually ends with the pilot receiving a call sign MUCH worse than the one he had; hardly anyone cares about the bad childhood memories of servicemen. so i think the only bad thing about the episode is that they didn’t immediately explain to Dash how call signs are issued, which is what caused the whole conflict. In general, the Wonderbolts behaved like a normal military team, who could both help and be tough on each other. I apologize in advance for possible errors, I wrote with a translator
i feel like this ep is more representative of what it's like to join a sports team/society at uni or when you're older, i'm not sure how it works in the US or wherever you're from but, when freshers join, the initiation is SO much worse than a little name-calling and it's fitting they used name-calling bc this is a kids show. plus rainbow would never leave the wonderbolts that was like her life goal
@@stuartbarclay7940Well, such is life, we are not greeted with flowers and smiles everywhere. we only have a choice to either put up with it and continue, or leave. Dash is clearly not one of those who, because of such frivolous cases, will be ready to give up the dream of her life, which she has been pursuing for years, sparing no effort.

There's a scene from a flashback of kid Rainbow on some rando pegasus's shoulders - who has rainbow hair- but it isnt her dad.
Ashleigh Ball was flexing hard in this episode for Rainbow Dash.
It's really unfortunate that this is the last musical episode that they did, but it did go out with a bang, at least.

ehhh at first i didn't understand why so many ppl hate on newbie dash but after rewatching, i totally get it. i mean- the whole gimmick of giving ppl nicknames based off embarrassing things they've done is fine considering it's all in good, lighthearted fun, but i still feel like the wonderbolts should've been sensible enough to see how upset rainbow got over the nickname + it doesn't help that they literally only referred to her by her new nickname while the others were referred to by their names? and while i agree that rainbow could've told them she was uncomfortable with the nickname because it's the same one bullies used to make fun of her, it can be hard to admit you were bullied (speaking from personal experience) especially for someone like rainbow who has a bit of an ego and always wants to appear 'cool', and considering she did kind of of make an ass of herself during her first day, i feel like it just made it even harder for her to admit it. i think it would've been cool if the episode instead ended with rainbow confiding in the wonderbolts-- or just spitfire-- about why she's uncomfortable with the nickname so they give her a new one, or let her know that it's all in lighthearted fun and that her past bullies don't define her, but they can use a new nickname if she wishes-- or idk SOMETHING. overall its just a complicated episode & might just be apart of military culture (tho seeing rainbow imitate her friends was a treat)
We actually do see windigos in the series in later seasons…how could they come back…
Honestly i feel bad for the bolts ( especially soarin bcs hes my favorite and its canon he overworks himself so this just feels like to much for my man 😭 ) AND dash, RD is just tryna fit in she doesnt get their “traditions”/rules or inside jokes yet and the bolts think its all in good fun and genuinely just think shes being odd and its honestly probably stressed some of em out a bit, but geez that entire episode was just a giant miscommunication lmao
I like eggnog, but it raises my blood sugar 'way too much! Try hot, spiced apple cider with rum or brandy! FYI: Brandy is also often added to eggnog.
Wait huh??? Are apple cider donuts a Mass thing??? I figured everyone had em 😭
Scoot thirsting ong
Lmao let me drink
Eggnog with ice cream is great
Lunas song is the best MLP song by farrrrrrr
Cool timing. I just heard a story about a Pilot who wanted to be called "Hand of god"
Well, the "Hand" stuck, buuuuut... instead of "of god" the second part was... shotened. To "job"
Do i believe that story? Actually: yes, absolutely. Military be like that.
We in the military make fun of rookies to strenghthen them
In this episode it shows that Starlight is cooler, bad than good, she was born to be a villan and nothing more
PD: You are already a Derpy Star, the brigntest of all
Rainbow: Rainbow crash
Crashed
Crash
Lmfao my fave dash episode 🎉 (besides better together short/song)
Imagine if the writers replaced Rainbow Dash with someone like Thunder lane? He could have been the stallion of the Mane 6
I thought I would never see the day when Scootx (the OG rainbow dash simper) would hate a rainbow dash episode lol
I was a bit disappointed when I first started watching that Scrooge episode just because the Scrooge story is overdone, but it's one of my favorites now. They did such a great job with it. AJ's song and Luna's song are two of my favorites from the show.
Snowfall frost was an industrialist so she thinks the day is a waste of productive work
I love eggnog! I go every year with it! 😋
Don't they mean Rainbow Trash? :3
Also you gotta watch the mop movie before season 7. And the one with the main 6, not the crappy new 3d version.
MASSACHUSETTS GANG!!! 🌊🐳
What do you think Rainbow Dash would be like if she threw away her need for glory? Is she and Rarity the most flawed members of the Mane 6?
Has to be Mayfield egg nog that's the only kind we drink
On Thanksgiving and Christmas
What tier list video? Is it only on patreon?
Rainbow dash and her cider is me with egg nog.
Ik it tastes a "tad" weird but EGGNOG IS BUSS IDC 🗣️🗣️🔊💯🔊😩💅🏾
Most people beailve thats her dad, i mean i think its supposed to be but they dont go with it
Newbie Dash *really* killed my likeness for the Wonderbolts!
@@SillyFillechka Even so, it just hurts me to see my favourite character being treated so poorly.
i feel like this ep is more representative of what it's like to join a sports team/society at uni or when you're older, i'm not sure how it works in the US or wherever you're from but, when freshers join, the initiation is SO much worse than a little name-calling and it's fitting they used name-calling bc this is a kids show. plus rainbow would never leave the wonderbolts that was like her life goal
@@stuartbarclay7940Well, such is life, we are not greeted with flowers and smiles everywhere. we only have a choice to either put up with it and continue, or leave. Dash is clearly not one of those who, because of such frivolous cases, will be ready to give up the dream of her life, which she has been pursuing for years, sparing no effort.
not a big rainbow fan but the nicknames pissed me off like not tm on rd
Rainbow, please, Soarin's gay! xD
Newbie Dash isn’t so bad, but it does get good 10-12 minutes in. The backstory is the only good part.
Yay
