as a Finn, this feels strange when we are fighting in Ukraine in our own language
Nobody can learn a new language (especially a completely unrelated language) that fast, so they obviously don't speak Russian or Ukrainian... and they're not NATO troops, so they don't have to speak English... especially not to eachother. Same with peacekeepers in the middle-east, the Finns don't speak English among themselves, why would they?
there’s a Japanese unit doing the same thing. foreign fighters build nations, god bless them all
Was thinking the same thing, feels wierd hearing finnish soldiers fighting in there but good for these guys and RIP Kake Randelin :D
nothing strange there thousands of NATO soldiers and mercenaries. 7,000 of them are already feeding worms in the ground, according to Mossad
same seeing people speaking english, its like a world war
"How far we got to go?"
"Real f*cking far"
That's just Finnish, brutal honesty.
I mean if we're honest if you're shot in the foot everything is pretty fucking far.
This guy is so calm, someone you definitely want on your side in confusing and scary situations like this.
He doesn't have radio, no support, injured friend, no car, money, etc.
And drugs.
Finnish soldiers are trained for stuff like this. plus finnish people are overall calm
It's not calmness, you are so much freaked that you become numb and act like robot while trying not to panic.
All respect for these Finn’s. Especially the bro helping his mate out. Absolute legend.
@@billheadis9138 True as an F1 fan I've seen this with Kimi and Bottas, most the time they're very reserved and concise with their words lol
I've seen plenty of war footage, but when the voices you hear yelling for help in pain is in your own language it just adds something to it that makes your skin crawl if not only a bit more than before. I'm praying to god that this war ends as soon as possible and that as many soldiers as possible can return home safely.
As an American, I'm inspired by these Finns. I'm proud of them.
@@Gr13fM4ch1n3 There are American soldiers on the ground too and you are sending a lot of money and weapons, but for us Finns this hits home differently. I'm glad that some of us are helping the Ukrainians on the ground not just sending money and weapons. I have immense respect for them all.

I don't think alot of people understand the type of mental state you have to be in to be able to get through the stress these guys go through... Like joking about getting shot in the plate by a sniper, the "It better not hit us" with the incoming mortar had me dead, that's typical Finnish humor 😂Im from Sweden but my grandparents were Finnish, and they are super tough! Glad they made it out of there ❤
Yeah, the Finns definitely has a strong tendency for really dark and dry humour.
I am also from Sweden, and I agree, but we also do have pretty dark humour in Sweden well I would say most of the Nordics... :) Iceland also.
@@PastramiStaven Definitely, but our Eastern sibblings just takes the darkness in it to the next level.

The guy who got shot in the foot made it to a hospital. In an interview he said that walking for over 200 meters is a bit difficult but he hopes to get well enough to be able to go back and fight for Ukraine again. Don't know about the last 3 weeks though or how the Nissan guy is.
Even if he can't get full recovery, he'd still be useful as a training instructor.

@@janbo8331 DAmn that is interesting, and makes sense. Thanks for sharing!
It’s been revealed that he got hit in the thigh and the bullet exited from his foot. His entire leg was destroyed.
@@janbo8331 as an ex-ER doc i can confirm this. Even in the medical ER textbook under the military trauma section it says basically the same thing. There is a logic behind it: if patient is critically wounded they might not be able to localize and vocalize the pain due to low blood pressure, not being able to breathe, shock etc. If the patient is screaming you know they are hurt but able to register it. I had a soldier struck by an IED who lost his foot. At first he was out confused calm.but when we stabilized him he registered the pain and than the screaming begun. (we are not heartless we took care of the pain too) Lost the foot but still alive.
Always carry and know how to use a tourniquet. Even in civilian life it can save you or someone. I have one in my car.

3:02 The person started filming when the fight had been going on a few minutes already. The person who got injured managed to empty two or three belts before he got hit - and also got a malfunction after the first two rounds.
8:42 Yeah as far as I know there was security on both sides. The enemy was ~ 300 hundred meters away and there was open field and a small river in between.
They were setting up the Kord into a position where it could cover both roads leading into the village. It is not a great position, but I think the main concern was that it could cover as wide area as possible as the others would have had to advance through what could be best described as an open field. Compared to that it is a pretty good position.
When they spotted the BMP-2 and the firefight broke out, the others were still behind the houses, but of course they joined in as soon as they could.
Man you finns kick ass! Love the humor of the guys in this situation. Like the guy loosing his wallet, phone, passport, ... for the "future". Hats off and hope all of them live on!
That's just about getting your priorities right.
The guy who filmed this originally made a long thread on a finnish 4chan style forum where he told about his experiences in ukraine, the kind of people he met and the things he saw. One of the greentexts told the events of the video along with some additional info and the following days. One of the people who show up here died the following day when a bunch of spetsnaz holed up in a house were willing to surrender and he went to talk to one of them. When the guy stepped out the american teams leader immediately shot him which prompted the rest of the russians to shoot back and kill the guy who had gone to the house. The finnish medic who is in the video asked why he did that to wich the team leader just said "fuck that guy". The OP said that the americans (who had no prior military experience) were some of the most boastful assholes around while doing the bare minimum and every one of them quit after their first casualties in the spetsnaz incident saying "we arent gonna die for you".
Also the injured guy was laying on his stomach so he had a 7.62 round hit him in the ankle and come out trough the bottom of his foot

I hope those experiences of the few non military American's being referenced don't sour your or other people's view of us (America). Also them saying "we aren't going to die for you" is in MY personal opinion NOT the true American way. Reading the author's comments on the vid, they were not supposed to be on the contact line that day, just giving support from the back with the Kord (/w which they got zero experience) and with the sniper rifle (which explains the non-existent cover on their positions, plus the guy filming didn't even have his plate carrier or helmet on - which all got burned in their Nissan). The BMP surprised them, but the guy with the foot injury here managed to get it pinned down with the Kord and got the enemy confused, so that it froze there and only shot with 7.62 instead of cannon, and the other guys actually got the BMP later with RPG's. And he told, later that position they were in at the first place, was completely vaporized by ruskies, so very good they abandoned it due to the injury. Otherwise they would've been fucked.

You can't always take an ideal position: when taking what would be considered an ideal position is not possible, you take what you can.
It is not ideal position in this situation.
However, the apparently idea was to setup the machine gun into a position where it could have covered both roads leading into the settlement as the others would have had to advance through the open terrain. In that case the position would have been pretty decent as the enemy would have had other priorities if there had been contact. While it did not offer much in terms of hard cover, at least there was some concealment. The terrain in Ukraine is pretty terrible from infantryman's point of view.
The BMP-2 showing up just changed everything completely. The video actually starts when the firefight has been going on 2 - 3 minutes or so.
The full chain of events, according to interviews, went something like this:
- The person engaged the BMP-2
- After two rounds the Kord jammed
- Russians started firing towards that puny patch of forest
- The person managed to clear the malfunction under fire and starts firing towards the BMP-2
- BMP-2 pulls back
- The person started engaging enemy infantry hiding behind a fence / building near the junction. Not sure if he managed to hit anyone, but if someone decided to hit the dirt behind the fence instead of immediately seeking better cover then it probably wasn't too fun for them as he shot an entire belt through it.
- BMP-2 shows up again
- The person gets wounded just when is about to finish his third belt
Couldn’t have cleared it better meself^

What really caught me was the calmness of the guy with the camera. Everything went to shit, his mate got shot, but he kept his cool.
I really respect everyone able to do that! Doesn't have to be a war scenario, just about any sudden injury drives some people to panicking and doing bad/wrong decisions. I know I was a bit lost even when someone accidentally shortened his finger while cutting wood, even when nobody was shooting at me while trying to do the right things.
These guys most likely went through the Finnish military service and could have further specialist and reserve training, who knows.
Well, hes finnish..theyre hard as nails.
He was calm which is really nice but you can see the stress while he was trying to open the wall. It seems to me that he did not think too straight in that situation and that is understandable. But that stella how the situation affects peoples judgement.
I'm completely different. I cannot say I would be like him, but whenever there is a small disaster, like what you mention, my first thing is to spring into action, think, coordinate and command and keep everybody else calm. That's why he would have chosen to go to the warzone. Because he knows he's got the nerves to cope with it.
However, it does not mean that your skills would not be needed in a war time. An organisation functions well when the right people are at the right tasks. You can be great at logistics organisation or meal delivery etc. All functions supporting the front line are an essential to any war effort, which is why American generals say that when the knownothings talk about war they talk about tactics. Generals talk about logistics.

At first I was thinking, why he's bitching about the leg but then I remembered there are over 7,000 nerve endings in each foot, many in that area. Also, if he's a sporty dude it might be frightening thought of losing the leg if something goes wrong (I'd rather die than lose my leg) + the fact he's on the frontline and the risk is much greater to die if there are no ability to move quickly (I heard some dropping shells). Luckily those US and Finnish folks looked very professional.
Thats why stepping on lego hurts alot but yes shrapnel hurts even more.
Well, the round went in from the top of his ankle (imagine him lying down in line to the fire) and came out from the bottom of his heel. So it was a 7.62mm right through the ankle joint, in line with his leg. That shit must've hurt like hell.
You don't really think about how incapacitating foot injuries are until you've had one. It doesn't take much at all to completely take away your mobility.
@@Dimetropteryx I have shattered several bones in my body, once my ankle too and torn ligament there, knee, shoulder and arm/hand, and now I have sometimes gout symptons in my foot, just that is immobilizing as fuck, only pain affecting my daily life more was toothache when there was something pushing against a nerve in my jaw.
Yea, well it's always a bitch when your feet or legs get hurt, which ever way. I have a rare illness, that nearly paralyzed me, cause of unusual weakness at the spine. Anyhow, it had been causing episodes before too - but on that day of my emergency surgery - I had some hours before suddenly felt my right heel go numb and pretty much instantly felt like the entire lower body was lowered right into some boiling oil. I was able to walk to the bed, and then to the toilet in my flat with great effort - but that's where I fainted out of sheer pain. I don't think I have ever felt anything worse. I don't wonder why that guy was screaming, absolutely not, though I never been hurt the way he was.
How do you know a Finn is calm? He only uses a hand grenade to open up a fence, not Perkele!

The guy says "Mähän sanoin etten vedä enää vittu kertaakaan" which is a legendary quote from a meme in which a kid rides his bike into an icy puddle of water, heres the link to the meme ua-cam.com/video/0UX9q9AhG3Q/v-deo.html
bro just quoted a meme in a life threatening situation
This is SO interesting and informative of what their going through, wow!!
The man is fine these days.
The bullet entered above his ankle, went down through the ankle joint and exited from the bottom of the foot.
Might help you understand the pain and complaining.
"There goes my Nissan..." What a stoic understatement. He said it so calmly. Then again, I guess he can tell the bank to take it back, so...
no quite. but the remaining loan on his car was paid by donators.
@@apple_with_a_human_butt Good to know. He's done too much already to have to pay for it.
@@apple_with_a_human_butt I'm very glad to hear that!
He should get Toyotas.
@@krepsht8997 Nissan, Toyota, Mercedes.. None of them will withstand 30mm rounds or a komet ATGM from a BMP.
Im amazed I've never seen this video before. Great video man!
He saved his brother's life, brother from another mother, saw this vid, very courageous of him to stay with the injured guy.
Damn Savotta Jääkäri L and XL backpacks thats 950€ worth of backpack and then what was in them probably worth just as much in total as the Nissan😂😂
I LOVE this guys humor, he'd be fun in a war, keep my spirits up.
That was gnarly and I could really feel his frustration, being responsible for someone and not being able to control the environment much at all. Quick thinking with the light signaling! That saved a lot of time and grief for his buddy. From an interview of another Finnish volunteer who wasn't in this video but was nearby that day and knows of these dudes I heard that he'll recover and is already ambulatory. Should be back up and running soon as well. Quite interesting to see how situations can develop like that; you don't necessarily get all that much done just depending on luck like the situation and other factors. Then you just do what you can I guess!
I wonder if the best practice would be to unload your pack and stash it nearby; not leaving all the eggs in the same basket. Slows you down if you have to leave in a hurry though... but this was still early days and proper personnel carriers were in short supply!
Great show and presentation of the video. Thanks
17:04 "i fucking said i would never pull that off again" is from a finnish meme video where a kid falls in to a frozen ditch with his bike 😂😂😂😂
What's the title of the video?
Your videos are amazing man
Thanks dude!
His calm and general demeanor is almost scary.
He doesn’t even flinch.
Not shaking
Not screaming
Not breathing heavily
And then casually said he almost got killed
Cool stuff
All the best to everyone
Shaking comes afterwards i bet
@@kaikkimennyt round 2:58 u see his hands shaking like crazy, he’s doing keeping his cool hella well
Niin ku näyttää valoa
This both breaks my heart and warms my heart to see my country men in this situation.
I pray for their well being and you will be treated as the heroes you are once you come home ❤🇫🇮
Haha it's such a chaotic video. Sad and comedic at the same time.
Btw. Considering how much of your foot is bone. I can understand his agony.
Yes and the shrapnel shreds it nicely and the shattered bone nicely tickles all the nerves in the foot.
If I remember correctly, he was shot through the ankle, the round going in from top of the ankle, and coming out from the heel. So, yeah, a 7.62 through the ankle joint. Can't even begin to imagine how much that hurt.
Don't have a link to the picture anymore but it was gnarly looking, swollen and was about triple the normal size
Never understand why evolution decided to make the foot so sensitive to pain.
@@Ukraineaissance2014 prolly to make sure we don't go around fucking up the body parts we use to move around
This Dude is fucking amazing, takes care for his buddy, has a great chill mental and a great sence of humor even in this terrifying terrain
All the respect to this guys💪👍
Finnish person here. I really would not be able to go to war. I’m only crying by just watching this and even the slightest thought of putting myself there makes me burst out of tears. The fear that a situation like this creates in me is overwhelming. Such brave Finns for risking their lives. I can understand why they want to combat Russia. It might be inevitable one day…
It will be inevitable when you actively participate in someone else's conflict. Like these volunteers here are doing.

Then there was the USSR, this is, firstly, secondly, in addition to the Russians in the USSR, there were also Ukrainians and 14 other current countries, so to say that only Russians attacked the Finns is rather stupid.
Also, that corrugated fence isn't metal, it's asbestos ceramic...
Very common roofing and siding material in Europe on older cold war era houses before it got banned in new construction within the EU. Don't know what the building codes in countries further East says.
Fiber cement board, they still make it, they have replaced asbestos with something that is allowed.
it's fkn everywhere here in Czech R. too.
I keep seeing that white asbestos shit in ukraine videos crumbled all over the place. I seem to recall the white stuffs relatively stable but it's still crazy
@@Ukraineaissance2014 As long as the tiles/sheets are intact they are very safe. They are unsafe when they get damaged but even then the amount of particles is relatively low.
@@squidcaps4308 Yea, in Ukraine those roof tiles/sheets are very intact in every video 🤣
Getting hit in the foot can be astonishingly painful and, although in itself it may not be life-threatening, it can stop you doing a lot of things that might be needed to save your life - starting with running. 👍
Hearing someone cry for medic in a real life combat footage feels fucking gnarly holy shit, I wasn't prepared for that part.
Thank you brother, and God save those dudes, they fight for my country, my freedom and I can't be thankfull enough to them, it is really a blessing to fight alongside with such a brave man
Love this kind of content. More ukraine war live commentary!
Holy shit that was a rollercoaster just to watch from the comfort of my bed. Terrifying, but inspiring how brave these guys are.
I was supposed to serve and I can see how terrifying that is! Kudos for them making it out alive
Thats a good example of one cas tying up three able bodied including the sniper. One good thing - the guy is relaxed.
In tough situatuons like this seeing your buddy be out of it trying to figure out something to get him out and not get blown up, it's incredible how one can keep their head in it and crack jokes like that
These are some real brothers in arms!
"I cant make it. I need feet."
Man, as an Estonian, Fins are some of the best out there.
Damn, couldn't keep watching this, hearing them speak in our language, shouting for medic, it hits too hard. Come back alive guys :( I hope this madness ends soon.
Have you seen Civ Div? Has a pretty wild video where they take out a BMP then stumble into a fortified house full of Spetsnaz.
Yeah CivDiv is great. The final note on one of the videos broke my heart. These guys have a PayPal under the original video to help the guys.
was sad on the video where the clear that building becuz what happened at end :( slava ukraine slava the legion

Interesting and the stress level must be really high. It was "funny" (funny now when we know it was almost all good except the foot) seeing how they taking cover behind a few leaves when a BMP is shooting at them, hearing all the conversation and thoughts, how his car got destroyed and he directly started thinking about car payments and when someone said they had been shot by a sniper and the response was "cool"
A big thanks to anyone helping out with their experience on the frontline, with the training and all you people at home that have donated money so they can buy new cars, thermal vision, body armour, com radios and so on.
A real worrior
Good old runescape tunes
I heart is skipping beats while watching my fellow Finnish guys fighting in such conditions. Same time I'm proud how they keep their act together and calm, brutal honesty way to deal things. Sometimes I'm proud to be Finnish 😊😊
17:01 the guy said "i said i dont pull that off again" which is a old meme here in finland :D
totally lost it at the "oh.. copyright music!" XD
The filmer is much less stressed than the American driving the car in the end 🤣
That guy having some funny conversation in a normal face.. has a good sense of humor.
It's like Nixau in "Gods must be crazy".
Wherein he act and talk very normal but you'll burst into laugh seeing him acting and talking.
Good jobs Finns, you're all brave warriors.👍
I'm not a brave warrior 😂
