Collapse of the USSR - Raw Footage of Soviet Soldiers Receiving Food Aid (1991)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 вер 2024
- On 30 December 1991, ITN filmed Soviet soldiers in the German city of Potsdam as they worked to unload a delivery of Western aid destined for the Russian city of Smolensk. In March 1991, East and West Germany had reunified, while just weeks before this footage was filmed, on 12 December 1991, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) had become the Russian Federation. With so much change occurring so quickly, it is unsurprising that the old Communist insignia remained on the uniforms of the soldiers. As well as filming in Potsdam, ITN also filmed at three other locations along the route of the aid convoy: in Berlin, the capital of the recently-reunified Germany; in the Belarussian city of Brest, where British aid volunteers spent time with Soviet soldiers; and in Smolensk, the convoy's final destination.

We have been made aware of an error in this video. The first section of film, which the on-screen text describes as taking place in Smolensk, Russian Federation, was in fact filmed in Potsdam, Germany. We always do our utmost to ensure that footage we share with you on here is contextualised accurately but, on this occasion, we made a mistake. We're lucky that our audience is international, informed, and engaged enough to notice such mistakes on the rare occasion they're made. Thanks for watching, we hope you found this video as fascinating as we did!
They are still soviet soldiers though. The CA on their sholdiers stands for soviet army. They are not Germans
@@johnritter6864 just because its in Postdam, doesnt mean they are automatically Germans and it's obvious that they are still Soviet soldiers
If you had a shred of honesty, you would change the misleading title. These are foodstuffs sent not to Russia, but to East Germany, where Russian troops had been disconnected from supplies due to the breakup of the USSR. That was a temporary problem (the Russian troops returned home after some time) but it was advertised as "food crisis". Furthermore, the game was easy: break up a state and then send aid with the English flag, in front of the cameras of an English TV. And the REAL hunger would come LATER, with Yeltsin's government. You can fool many, but not all.

The depiction as „Smolensk“ in the first 15 minutes is completely wrong. This is the Alexander Nevskiy chapel in Potsdam, East Germany. Right next to it were Soviet military units and a closed KGB quarter. Also the historical „Russian Colony Alexandrowka“ is right next to it and its a historical landmark in Potsdam. How do I know? I live only 300 metres from this particular place and just look at the civilian cars in this video. This is Germany.
Edit: at 13:52 you can see a tiny poster at the wall, written in German and mentioning Potsdam for some certain event.
Так точно. Это Die russisch-orthodoxe Alexander-Newski-Gedächtniskirche in Potsdam. Эмблемы на автомобилях принадлежат ЗГВ.
Вероятно, что подписи были выставлены исходя из аннотаций приложенных к плёнке, и на каком-то этапе возникла ошибка. Во всяком случае последние кадры похоже Смоленск.
I'm amazed by your powers of observation. It is possible that the aid was first delivered to a group of Soviet troops in Germany, and then transported to Smolensk by the Russians.🙂
@@ДмитрийСадков-с4оDifficult to say which Soviet city it was. It states that it’s Brest in Belarus but could be anywhere else in the USSR. The last minutes when the lorries drive on the road, I can see something that looks like one of these Soviet city entry monuments. But I can’t tell what’s written there.
@@ImprudentmanPossible but my criticism is on the first 15 minutes. This is definitely my neighborhood and I can see the chapel from my window. And I know the history of this area.

Let me explain the context. Throughout 91 years, the USSR was falling apart politically - its members left the union. The previously accumulated problems in the reforms were supplemented by the collapse of economic ties between producers. There is an acute shortage of food products in the capital. Later, it will manifest itself even more acutely with a sharp transition to a market economy, and specifically, price liberalization🙂. All these two years, Western countries, in order to somehow soften the transition to the market in Russia, supplied food and humanitarian aid.

“What is meant [by the term ‘revolution from above’] is profound and essentially revolutionary changes implemented on the initiative of the authorities themselves but necessitated by objective changes in the situation. It may seem that our current perestroika could be called ‘revolution from above’. True, the perestroika drive started on the Communist Party’s initiative, and the Party leads it. I spoke frankly about it at the meeting with Party activists in Khabarovsk in the summer of 1986. We began at the top of the pyramid and went down to its base, as it were. Yes, the Party leadership started it. The highest Party and state bodies elaborated and adopted the program. True, perestroika is not a spontaneous but a governed process.” (From the English edition, via Christopher Story’s “The European Union Collective”, page 83. - No further explanation needed, Gorbachev himself most openly reveals the facts all by himself: Plannedly and controlledly, the Party and State organs reshaped themselves into a ‘new form’ more suitable to carry out the final bit of the world revolution. To state a few facts:
Capitalism and the United States WON the Cold War while the Soviet Union disintegrated under its own weight without a single shot being fired; Socialism is the obsolete ideology that failed miserably in Zimbabwe, Venezuela, Grenada, Vietnam, North Korea, East Germany, Yugoslavia, Libya, Sri Lanka, Chile, Hungary, Nicaragua, Poland, El Salvador, Mozambique, Romania, Honduras, Mongolia, Bolivia, Afghanistan, Angola, China (which has been Capitalist in everything but name since the economic reforms of 1964 by Deng Xiaoping), Russia (of course), and everywhere else it has been tried.
Capitalism continues to be the best and only option while Socialism continues to be the worst, the most failed and most lethal after having caused at least 120 million deaths in less than 90 years which would translate in more than 1 million deaths per year.
BTW, how come reds keep bitching about American "imperialism" but never mention Chinese imperialism in Vietnam or North Korea? Or Soviet imperialism in Afghanistan, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Hungary, East Germany or Yugoslavia? Or Cuban imperialism in Angola, Mozambique, Grenada, Nicaragua or Venezuela? Or Yugoslav imperialism in Albania?
And let's finish with the Socialist prayer:
If it's a Socialist atrocity, it never happened
If it happened, it wasn't that bad
If it was that bad, they deserved it
If they didn't deserve it, mistakes might have been made
If mistakes were made, that wasn't real socialism.

If , for some reasons, soviet or russian autorities were unable to distribute the aid in timely manner, it's definitely not a question of provided aid, but failed in-country management.

What's the point of giving them the British flag? are you colonizing them with food?
Time of perestroika so flag as a symbol of friendship. New era of relations.

What a time, when relations between Russia and the West were their strongest. Wish we could say that today. 🙏❤️
Relations were not strong. Instead what happened is that western masonic pawn and traitor gorbachev purposely destroyed USSR. Soviet people just didnt know that it was him purposely destroying their future and country for Pizza Hut and villa in Bavarian Alps. Thats why Russian hate west today. They know what lying bastards west is.
что это кстати мы на счетах не вернемся считать))ахахах!!! зато "свое" древнегреческое будет)
very good help but i don't understand why they had to see the british flags all the time
It's just something most if not all countries do when they give out aid. It's basically a subtle way of saying we helped you, don't forget it. It's also a good way for governments to show taxpayers where their money is going.
