Ive seen a few of these then and now videos, but this once makes me a little sad. I was 20 years old when this movie came out and watching them age is just a reminder that youth is fleeting and life passes very quickly!
As I watch this and listen, I can reflect on the sights and sounds of those times in which we lived back then. I can almost see myself walking in the era and feeling the memory of those days that are now past us, only to arrive at the moment which I am now existing in. To experience the days of fore, was a gift from God to be here at a more advanced age.🙏🏼
It's funny when I see a good looking man or woman and think they probably aged good, then see their photo and they're all old and wrinkled, then you see someone back then who was ugly and you think, omg, they must look hideous and then you see the after photo and they look better now than before.
I remember watching this movie, I am the same age as Leah Thompson. I had the same hairstyle. These wonderful videos can really put life into perspective, the music is just PERFECT, gives me a little ease of comfort but some sadness of time just passing by...😔
@@CorruptAssCriminals I have the movie on dvd but its been a while since I last watched it. Can't remember if the dvd has extended scenes or not. But I loved her hair in that movie & I even have her on my desktop. lol I wanted this version of Red Dawn & not that lousy remake of it. Took me a while to find the original one but I did & I added it to my dvd collection. Looking back I'm sure glad I did! Great movie!
Looking at the younger actors before pictures was like looking into my high school year book, 84 was the same year I graduated. The actors had the same haircuts and styles of back in days.
Why would you be scared? You just age until you look like crap and can barely move. Then one day you are lying on your death bed and fade into oblivion. Then your kids sell or toss all your stuff, it seems you never existed.
Doesn’t matter what else I have seen C Thomas Howell in over the years. First thing I think of is Red Dawn. Every single time. Never fails. The Amazing Spider-Man, CTH appears, instantly, Red Dawn.
All she did was have her nose bobbed. Yet, in her own words, "I went into the operating room a celebrity, I came out anonymous." I have understood that, after the procedure, even her mother did not recognize her at first. I think she is still lovely, and I am glad she has gotten some of her celeb status back.
One of the best movies from the 80s. RIP Patrick, Powers, Lane, and Superfly. I was watching two and half men the other night and I'm one of those individuals who believes that Charlie Sheen is one hell of a actor, unfortunately his lifestyle is more in the papers than his skills. The family is very talented and I respect that, however, I don't agree on certain things he and his dad's has done or said in the past I will watch their films.
@Pomeranian Stug. Brigade, Oh come on. That's not fair to associate a pyscho like McVeigh to this movie (and we still don't know the whole story about that Oklahoma City McVeigh bombing, ie how did many of the Feds know to not be in the building that day, etc.). If you look hard enough, you can find a psycho that liked just about any good movie out there.
The 1984 RED DAWN was an awesome movie! I saw it on a military base when it first came out and that made it even more amazing (if you can imagine the gung-ho cheers and enthusiasm). "Avenge me, boys. AVENGE ME!!!"
One of my favorite films from my childhood. My cousin and I must have watched it dozens of times on HBO when we were kids. Incidently, I had no idea William Smith was still alive. He was a great "tough guy" in a lot of films.
William Smith was Conan's father in the beginning of Conan the Barbarian. Like you said, he was in a lot of shows. He is one of those actors who could blend into a role and character so well that you don't recognize him at first. It's only after you watch it several times, or see the credits, and realize that was him.
@@dongilleo9743 Yep, he was excellent in Conan, too. It's too bad the studio didn't allow John Milius to film his Conan trilogy like he wanted. The first film is a classic. Unfortunately, you could tell the studio aimed Conan The Destroyer more at kids, toning it way down to a kid friendly PG rating.
Charlie Sheen could've aged gracefully like his father if he didn't have such a destructive lifestyle. He was handsome though and really good on the screen
Thanks for this video...while I generally don’t care for war movies...this one touched me for some reason...We sure have lost many great actors and actresses over the years. Thanks again.
I loved this movie so much I love the powerful message it sends that America will prevail and will not go out with a fight first that this great nation will always fight for our freedom no matter what. I absolutely adored the entire cast it still bums me out and makes me sad to know that Patrick Swayze is no longer with us I think he would still be in a list movies right now if he was still here with us. Everyone delivered a strong and amazing performance they made you believe it was really happening that we were being taking over it at times scared the living shit out of cause it felt so real. Hands down one of my favorite movies and lands a spot in my top 30 favorite war movies. Great vid dude I'm subscribed keep up the good work you do
I was 24 years old in 1984! I still love this country. I have never been in the service. But if I was asked to stay up for this country right now. I would do it in a heart beat. The movie showed when young people really stood up and put their minds together for a common cause. That they can get the job done. A lot of young people did just that on 9-11. Thank you for your service and ultimate sacrifice for your country. It will be needed down on the border soon. The line in the movie was. Because we live here! That hate is going to burn you up on the inside Boy! It keeps me warm at night! Wolverines! Shawn
I have a love / hate relationship with these videos.....It’s nice to remember how great these actors where back in the day....but sad to see their best days are mostly behind them (for the ones living). The haunting music adds to the sentiment. Where does time go??
@bluehavencd, I agree with you. Red Dawn seems relevant again, because today, Putin's Russia seems to be going backward to being a bully Soviet state. Russian leaders who today claim to be "Non-Communist" , keep on praising how wonderful Communist Soviet Russia was. Putin just recently has tried to down play how Russia and Nazi Germany were good friends during the first two years of WW2 and how RuSSia started WW2 along with it's former friend Nazi Germany.
A movie based on an actual Pentagon computer generated scenario. I enjoyed the movie. Can a military invasion be fun? But, it seems so long ago. I very much appreciate the background music - melancholy and nostalgic
Didja ever notice how when young, actors always have this grim countenance, but age them by 20 or more years and man, they look so mellow, like life has taught them to enjoy each day as if it were possibly your last? And I don't mean that in a destructive way, just more reflective about opportunities missed, roads not traveled, friends and acquaintances long gone...

It's a classic of cranberry.

What do you mean by that
" Red Dawn" ( AD 1984) was a really and truly good movie, and the cast were great for their respective roles.

I didn't know he died back in 2009. F
Red Dawn...a classic..underrated :)
A trivia note...this was the first movie given the new "PG-13" rating.
Wow, C Thomas Howell looks in his 70's. Great cast, great movie
@Bobby Brady yeah it's bizarre, he should do a blog, how to age badly lol
The remake was a horrible piece of crap. The original still stands as a great film.
