I want to make the case for TUAT: it was filled with mystery and a high sci-fi concept that hadn't been explored before (and was less well explored in Demons of Punjab which also seemed to be quite anti-Hindu) and explored this concept of the doctor being "tired of adventure" better than the Giggle. It wasn't perfect, but it was better than "nothing burger" imo. And Capaldi could perform the phone book and it would be riveting.

But as a part of the queer community I’m so beyond excited for a Ncuti Gatwa- this is massive for the world and he’s perfect for this next step. Also let’s keep adding more queer representation as I really want to be able to forget that time Moffat wrote two queer characters with no names just ‘the thin one and the fat one’ and just killed them anyway like what the hell was that.
The thing with Gatwa being without his trousers... they shared clothes I think. Tennant got the shoes, Gatwa the socks, etc. That means Tennant lost his underwear and is just wearing his trousers with nothing beneath. I'm sorry.
@dwfan91- easy. Holographic clothes. Jodie was naked during her Regeneration. Now, you can imagine what her and Yaz were up to before she dropped her off... Big Finish, time for your adult only branch to get to work
The ending of the giggle ruined it for me, the bi generation was fine but they just threw a ball around and the toy maker didn’t catch it? what kind of ending is that? couldn’t they have just dropped it on the ground and proclaim to have won? really does seem like russel t davies wrote himself into a hole with that one
The toymaker losing to a game of catch (p.s he sat there the entire time with the railgun pointing directly at the doctor whilst he regenerated/bigenerated and did nothing), the MCU-esque portion of panning to all of the characters for them to go “WHATTT???” after the bigeneration, the way that they get Ncuti to console tennant as if neither of them remember that the doctor has lost his entire home planet and countless others much more meaningful than the few who died this episode, Ncuti saying its okay I’m here for you as if that’s supposed to mean anything like we have no idea who you are yet mate. Shambolic episode.
That last one was just an idiotic comment lol. To that guy: wheelchairs aren’t just for people who have zero use of their legs at all. Other people who use them include those who can walk, but incredibly slowly with tremendous difficulty (my stepbrother falls into this category) and people who can only stand for a very short time, usually just long enough to relocate to another seat while on public transportation or something. Shirley Bingham likely falls into that latter category.
Chibnall did not include new doctor/companion because RTD was going to incorporate them in the 60th. If that is true then RTD..........dropped the ball by not doing so.
Dude. It’s the WHONIVERSE Russell T Davis needs more Doctor. So how better to increase the universe than to have two doctors. Dibs on seeing a DoctorVerse FILM vs TV in the next 3 years 😅
The 60th Anniversary Specials hardly had any reference to Classic Who. The Anniversary specials are supposed to celebrate that which came before it, as The Power of the Doctor brought back the Classic Doctors, so the 60th Specials get a 20% rating from me. I really enjoyed the Specials from the Chibnall era.
Wth were 15th new words? I mean I know them but the fact that he was "what the h is going on here" was a mistake. HE KNOWS. I know other regenerations were confused but this one was not (it was a whole thing, cuz he was clear enough to know he's ok, therapy out of order, figure out what happened and probably why cuz myths in the presence of Toymaker - BUT somehow he is saying that line...?!). Not to mention that if they don't re-merge later the therapy out of order doesn't make sense atm or why he was ok right away. Plus it's stupid to think 14 is just gonna chill for too long, it's just not who he is/was...and he's not anything new for it to make sense. If he remembered the Division bs...(which sadly not reconned to be the Master, yet) then maybe but he still doesn't. -------- Maybe he didn't want B. Piper back because she on that panel with Eccleston where he told them to sack everyone. But also Rose has the human Doctor ....how would that work? It might have...and the human one becomes the Valeyard wanting more regenerations.
my hype for ncuti’s era wasn’t even close to the 60th. it was awesome seeing david back but i genuinely cannot wait for season 1 (still weird calling it that) speaking of that, if they are somewhat doing what they did in 2005 with series 1 and rebooting i’m not against the idea. i really want my friends to check out the show but 13 seasons and all those specials is a lot for some people.
I'm so glad you mentioned that you're not a fan of Rose. Neither am I but I've been too afraid to say it in case I'd be chased with pitchforks! Didn't like Starbeast much at all, Wild Blue Yonder was far better ... until it had the floppy arms & the real Doctor and Donna were both able to just casually walk past these seemingly scary monsters -- it just didn't seem believable from then on. But I loved The Giggle & even the bi-regeneration scene but after that, again it kinda went a bit south for me in some parts. Still, I'm looking forward to the Xmas special (except for the musical/ theatrical interludes) & so on. Love your vids.
I wish these specials were a Toymaker 3-part story, I feel that the Toymaker was the most hyped up element yet it just felt rushed in the end, which is a shame because NPH was fantastic as the Toymaker. The Star Beast and Wild Blue Yonder could easily have been in Series 14 cause they just didn’t feel like they were all that “special”, especially Wild Blue Yonder, it was the most Series 14 Episode 8 thing I’ve ever seen smh. Love the vids 🤝
RTD I've come to the conclusion just can't write sci fi fantasy .... He can do soapy kitchen sink drama narratives quips and quotes and he can hype things up as the biggest thing ever ... Sure but ....my goodness me the fact he gave us three empty hours of "that's pretty entertaining" style episodes for its 60th anniversary ....ripping off what Moff achieved beautifully Capaldi's era across THREE series ...40 episodes! Twice Upon a time did the narrative of self healing and reflecting on traumas so 13 could be baggage free ...worked! The transition from 12 to 13 imo made sense and why imo it was a colossal success ...like I can watch Series 10 to the initial series 11 episodes and it feels organic ....this wasnt this was forced "nostalgia bait" to act as series 4 the sequel ... To do its job of making doctor who a brand and not a show ... And I agree with the poster saying EOTD/LOTSD/TPOTD are far stronger than TSB WBY TG ... hands down it showcases things better I feel and agree that the giggle is a reductive version of POTD ... The toymaker isn't the master
@@andrealiee thank you ... I feel Dr who sadly is now adhering to modern entertainment of accepting mediocre entertainment with high praise showing that we eat anything up ... Nothing happened in the 3 hours that basically didn't already happen in power of the doctor... Ncuti deserves better ....those thinking his launch episode will get Whittaker first series numbers will be disappointed ....Christmas day is a ratings dead zone ....and TV isn't a huge factor of entertainment these days unless it's a big live event ....these specials were the shows last chance to grab a huge audience and it didn't ... Ncuti won't get those numbers even ....and soon the BBC is going to eat itself up
On a side tangent: While I do think there might've been some spite while making Spider-Man: LOTUS, the creator very much made it clear on his social media not to use his work to shit on the MCU movies
I remember before they started working on it, their personal account was basically an MCU hate account- I'm not even saying I disagree with it being a bad adaption or whatever (I don't particularly care for the trilogy even NWH) but for example when there's all the messages of them saying "this movies gonna be far better than sh**ty Far From Home!!" it makes it harder to give it the benefit of the doubt if you know what I mean.
@dwfan91- Yeah, way before the movie was announced, Gavin would post a lot about how he didn't like MCU Spider-Man, but he's changed a lot since then. I agree that it colors the movie differently, but again, he was very consistent about how he didn't want people to use his movie to shit on other movies even when all we had was the suit reveal
@@frightening_volleyball1231 Nah I'm not talking about the infamous messages I'm talking about stuff I saw with my own eyes💀 I remember when the film was first announced and because of the dudes behaviour before hand I couldn't be as hyped as everyone else seemed to be. Then all that stuff came out and everyone turned on him which seemed unfair and slimy but thats the way a certain website with an X goes
I would have thought that The Star Beast would be the special that split the fandom rather than The Giggle. The Star Beast was the Wokest episode of Doctor Who ever made. The Giggle was less offensive than The Star Beast unless you take into account the actual so-called Bi-generation, regeneration scene that could've done it.
As much as I loved that 14/10 got to live with a family after thousands of years of adventuring, I would have rather they gone with the straight-forward regeneration. Mostly because it makes Ncuti Gatwa's debute less impactful. I would have loved it if they had gone down the bittersweet route.
I hope this guy never actually makes a profile picture. I think the fact that he doesn't have one even at 10.5k subscribers, makes his lack of profile picture the way how I officially recognize him.
I understand why people want Susan to return, but honestly, I hope they never do that. Why? Because I think Big Finish did it perfectly with An Earthly Child and the whole Lucie Miller/To the Death storyline. And let's be real, RTD would most likely ignore all that stuff if he brought Susan back. Like he ignored the Toymaker's EU appearances and Beep the Meep's previous stories.
While I too like those stories, there still is a massive open door for Susan to come back. I like giving writers more options instead of limiting them and not having Carol Ann Ford for the 60th is a massive miss just as it was not having her in the 50th.
Beep the Meep couldn't "become the Toymaker", because Beep the Meep has been established as a specific, separate character in his own right in several comic and audio stories over the last 43 years, since the original Star Beast comic story in Doctor Who Weekly in 1980, when Tom Baker was the Doctor. As you'd know if you had actually been around at the time.
I didn't say that. I said make "The Boss" the Toymaker. I hate to pull the receipts out on you like this but I actually own that comic so this is looking rather embarrassing for you
You just gotta watch this show to enjoy it. If you watch it to criticize it or be skeptical, that’s what you’ll come away with no matter the season. You come in with optimism, wanting to have a good time, and the show will reward you for that.
I get its a community reaction but you gotta let people have their opinion. I notice sometimes when people have an opinion that differs from yours you rebuttle with this undertone of condescension. Its a long video so its obviously not always the case but its noticeable especially if the comments reasonably subjective. Could just be me but it feels like you spend a lot of time addressing a sect of the DW community u dont like that are a minority
I'm trying to avoid the typical pitfalls of "react" type content. I don't want to just steal people's comments and not give my opinions on it- on that last part, I tried to even handedly show comments that did like and didn't like the episode. I don't want these videos to be an echo chamber so I show comments that I also disagree with as well as ones I do. Or at least, I try lmao. Thanks for the comment and I'll keep this in mind when making the future ones
@@dwfan91- yeah that's fair enough, as I said I dont think it always applies I'm not saying you shouldn't give your views on others perspectives. Just sometimes it comes across as " Whats wrong eith people that think like this" rather than " a lot of people feel like this i Disagree. Here's why". Its noticeable to me coz some of those opinions I share so the response comes off that way
@@Vixis6 is this in reference to the twice upon a time comment- I personally just think the episode is ass and most people don't remember what happens in it (or that a majority of the Chibnall era episodes are superior to it). Hearing the same npc phrase over and over again gets less endearing over time imo and I want to promote non-dogmatic thinking instead of just regurgitating/copypasting other peoples takes. Ofc, this is just my opinion and have no issue whatsoever with people who enjoy the episode
Nah, Woman Who Fell to Earth is trash. I'd rather have nothing (if that's what Twice upon a time was, which I dont remember) + the fool making 1st Doctor sexist when he wasn't COMPARED to the bs convenient coincidences in TWWFoT. The only reason that seems better is cuz ppl are excited to see what the new Doctor is like (which is bad...cuz social anxiety....after thousands of year....lmao oh and endangering ppl on purpose AND Yaz being stupid and incompetent).
@@dwfan91- I won’t say too much but I also do truly believe that RTD is a massive hypocrite in real life, especially when you work under the nonce defence league and have yet to answer for your own misconducts while condemning writers of the past for creating disabled villains because there’s a history of that stereotype to keep wheelchair users down… funnily enough he respects drag as an art form even though the whole point of drag was to keep women off the stage before it eventually evolved into what it is today. He cherry picks what he thinks is right and wrong, had some involvement in character assassinating Eccleston and did nothing about John Barrowman and Noel Clark when they where on doctor who under his watch. I’d honestly like to see more proof before a final judgment but I think there’s enough for him to be called into some kind of questioning and scrutiny because out of all the shoe runners he’s the one who comes off the most morally bankrupt- chibnall might be my least favourite writer out of the big 3 but I have never personally found myself wanting the man to be questioned for his lack of morals
I think you can go too far into it. Yes, the bi-regeneration was stupid and it undermines 15 a little, I get it, but it gave 10/14 a really sweet, emotionally satisfying end. I just hope that RTD gets over his pathological need to get the "message" across and just gets on with storytelling

Oh. So that's the other side of community thoughts.
The ending of the giggle ruined it for me, the bi generation was fine but they just threw a ball around and the toy maker didn’t catch it? what kind of ending is that? couldn’t they have just dropped it on the ground and proclaim to have won? really does seem like russel t davies wrote himself into a hole with that one
>set up Toymaker as unstoppable force, explaining that laws of reality do not apply to him

@@dwfan91- haha love the content btw!!
unrelated but i'm catching up on your videos and i just gotta ask whether we unlocked the "11th doctor is a fraud" part of your lore yet

I enjoy your vids but the fanbase is absolutely delusional. The Giggle is horrific.
Shambolic episode.
hey thats why its called a community reaction and not dwfan reaction😂
I liked it I thought the toy maker was cool
I have many issues with the specials but i cant wait for the new season to start
the bi-regen overshadows all Doctors from here on in I think
That last one was just an idiotic comment lol. To that guy: wheelchairs aren’t just for people who have zero use of their legs at all. Other people who use them include those who can walk, but incredibly slowly with tremendous difficulty (my stepbrother falls into this category) and people who can only stand for a very short time, usually just long enough to relocate to another seat while on public transportation or something. Shirley Bingham likely falls into that latter category.
Chibnall did not include new doctor/companion because RTD was going to incorporate them in the 60th. If that is true then RTD..........dropped the ball by not doing so.
Dude. It’s the WHONIVERSE
Russell T Davis needs more Doctor.
--------
Maybe he didn't want B. Piper back because she on that panel with Eccleston where he told them to sack everyone. But also Rose has the human Doctor ....how would that work? It might have...and the human one becomes the Valeyard wanting more regenerations.
that panel happened very recently
my hype for ncuti’s era wasn’t even close to the 60th. it was awesome seeing david back but i genuinely cannot wait for season 1 (still weird calling it that)
speaking of that, if they are somewhat doing what they did in 2005 with series 1 and rebooting i’m not against the idea. i really want my friends to check out the show but 13 seasons and all those specials is a lot for some people.

The toymaker isn't the master
this might be the best comment i've read regarding the specials
Also, if I'm not mistaken, a lot of those messages turned out to be faked
@@frightening_volleyball1231 Nah I'm not talking about the infamous messages I'm talking about stuff I saw with my own eyes💀 I remember when the film was first announced and because of the dudes behaviour before hand I couldn't be as hyped as everyone else seemed to be. Then all that stuff came out and everyone turned on him which seemed unfair and slimy but thats the way a certain website with an X goes
@dwfan91- ahh, no yeah, I get that, but Jesus, the backlash went way too far😭
They miss a chance by not bringing martha back
I would have thought that The Star Beast would be the special that split the fandom rather than The Giggle.
POD would have fit the 60th
I hate to pull the receipts out on you like this but I actually own that comic so this is looking rather embarrassing for you
I thought this would have been an hour plus ? Why so short, But anyways Thanks Great content
In the future I will try to make them longer🫡
You just gotta watch this show to enjoy it. If you watch it to criticize it or be skeptical, that’s what you’ll come away with no matter the season. You come in with optimism, wanting to have a good time, and the show will reward you for that.
Definite hard agree
The only reason that seems better is cuz ppl are excited to see what the new Doctor is like (which is bad...cuz social anxiety....after thousands of year....lmao oh and endangering ppl on purpose AND Yaz being stupid and incompetent).
maybe the second doctors regeneration was a bi-one which spawned the Fugitive Doctor
So many weeks down the line now and I can honestly say… RTD ain’t the goat man. He’s trying to MCU doctor who and I’m not here for it
when you find out yo goat washed💔
