    Aw man I was really hoping somebody wanted the electric tree service on a bike with solar panels running and all that there. Nice week of work!

    I’ve got two Bradfords to take down here at home. Always something to do on off days for sure.

    Love your videos and your humor. Plus you give me confidence every time someone asks me why I don't have a chipper. Thanks. I have a question -- for a couple trees you made the back cut and set a wedge before cutting the notch. What led you to do that?

    • @metaspencer
      @metaspencer  Місяць тому

      Good hearing from ya man. Yeah I avoid the old chippers whenever possible -- good to hear that approach works for you too. :) As for the back cut first, I tend use that method on smaller diameter trees with lean. Placing the backcut first means you have a fighting chance of getting a wedge in there. If ya wait to do the backcut last on a thinner tree, it's hard to set the wedge. Now, you can also remove just 1/4 of the backcut and slip the wedge in there, but lean and species of tree have to be just right.

    • @metaspencer
      @metaspencer  Місяць тому +1

      yeah I put it together pretty fast from some own line. It's a bit squishy for my taste so I'm looking for another length of rope for that one. Gotta get it just right, ya know

    Great video as always Spencer, how many quotes a week do you do on average during the warmer months?
    All the best to you and thanks for sharing f

    • @metaspencer
      @metaspencer  Місяць тому +1

      I guess I'd say 3-6 quotes a week or something like that -- it really varies for me and sometimes (like today) they come in hot and heavy. And I try to turn them around in 24 hours and usually get that done. But you know how it is: sometimes things get slow and sometimes not so much. Hard to balance it all for sure but still satisfying.

  • @pierogies_and_pie

    Thanks for sharing your week with us Spencer! Question - Since you work outdoors what do you do for disease carrying critters, namely mosquitos and ticks? Do you use bug spray with deet or picaridin or do you treat your clothes with permethrin or none of the above? Be well and be safe :)

    • @metaspencer
      @metaspencer  Місяць тому +1

      I've been pretty luck so far by treating my pants with permethrin ... it seems to keep the ticks from crawling on up. As for mosquitos they don't bother me much but I do keep some deet on hand if I'm working in a really badly infested area (rare around here, thanksfully). and then there is the sunscreen so the truck is kinda like a traveling lotion and ointment shop :)

    Don’t want to be the safety police but I think you should seriously consider getting some saw trousers

    • @metaspencer
      @metaspencer  Місяць тому +1

      You're absolutely right man. I have the clogger zeros and wear them when the temp allows for it, but on hotter days I struggle with heat intolerance to balance that against the saw pants. But I should use my chaps more often at the very least

    It's always good when you can get a snack while working. 😊
    I noticed the ground crew was a no-show, and that's not good. Maybe you can punish the ground crew by making "them" take down the silo by themselves. 🤭😉
    Good to finally see another video brother y'all take care, and may Father YHVH bless you and Melissa.
