    Ok besides the fact that her voice has changed so much, can we talk about how she was so good at such a young age like young kids don't (generally) sing so dark and powerful like damn

      She does show her original voice usually from what I've heard. Hit me baby one more time, Oops I did it again, Crazy, Womanizer. All of these show her vocal strength. *This is a misunderstanding. If you listen to it, she doesn't have a "baby" voice in her songs.* Maybe a little in *"I'm a slave for you"* (but it makes sense for that song, not fav, but good song)

      Márcio Rocha no, that’s bs. she “damaged” her voice because she stopped practicing singing, your voice is a muscle and obviously lack of practice is going to weaken her voice, plus it doesn’t help that she smokes

      I never stated that anyone forced her to do anything... However, it all started when the producers and songwriters at Jive Records taught her how to sing in a more and I quote, “mid-nasal raspy sexy voice” for her debut album. They felt that Britney’s natural and much grander voice would not allow her to succeed in mainstream pop music. So THEY MADE HER sing the songs that was written for her how THEY wanted it. Which ultimately limited Britney from showing the world in her music that she was much more than just a “mid-nasal, raspy sexy voice” vocalist. All and all, I guess one could say she was forced into singing that way...

      Naylani Rider I totally agree with you. She never decided to sound more babyish she was totally forced to sing that way. If you actually watch some of her interviews, she is deeply hurt and oppressed because she was totally forced into singing like this. I actually started crying with her in that interview.
      I totally respect you as a voice and singing couch and liked every single video you have presented on your UA-cam channel, but truthfully, you really need to go have a look into why BS was forced into singing in this style. Its really sad as she really didn't want to but...

    • @GodsFaveSim
      @GodsFaveSim 6 років тому +77

      It's the other way around Christina's label made her go more pop to sound more like britney.
      It's crazy cause both were originally going to be adult contemporary singers but when the bubblegum pop blew up both were turned into pop stars. Jive hired max Martin to work with britney and teach her the baby voice and then xtinas label saw how well britney was doing and made xtina sing britney sounding music.

    I’m surprised you never mentioned that this “baby voice” does a huge amount of damage on your voice to the point where her actual voice is kinda cracky now. She’s so used to this baby voice that she even talks like her fake voice

  • @UltimateKyuubiFox
    @UltimateKyuubiFox 6 років тому +2420

    They have to speed up her audio to create her iconic voice, which is why she lipsyncs. That’s not her real voice anymore. It’s been repitched in post-production, like for Alvin and the Chipmunks.
    You can find footage on Instagram of her singing “I can’t help falling in love with you” and if you slow it down by .25% then it sounds exactly like she did when she was younger. Like... exactly. And the footage looks weird as posted, but when slowed down looks far more natural. It’s fascinating.

      I don’t think they speed up her voice in the studio as her last album didn’t have as much of the baby voice but feel she speeds up her instagram videos as a way to cover her insecurities over her voice

    • @user-nu2jl6lw8w
      @user-nu2jl6lw8w 6 років тому +104

      Shane Dawson haha... but that's not really true, they don't pitch her voice in studio, because even though the baby voice is not "real", she can do it herself (she's done it live many times). She probably pitches her insta videos bc she feels insecure.

  • @touchmyrainbow
    @touchmyrainbow 6 років тому +1204

    I agree to an extent, but in Britney's case, it is a fake voice that took a big toll on her overall singing. Since 1999 when she started to use it for everything she sang, she is literally not able to carry a tune anymore, she can't even sustain a 2 second note anymore without cracking if she decides to use that weird baby voice. To be completely honest I don't think she would've been less succesful if she decided to use her healthier darker sound. And yes it is healthier FOR HER, she naturally gets extremely tense when using the baby voice because her natural voice is so much lower. It's not the same as Camila Cabello for example; she uses basically the same baby voice but her natural voice is very high pitched and whiny, so she doesn't force it too much. Anyways I love my queen Britney and it's a shame that her label forced her to sing in that voice, yeah that probably helped her numbers but I don't think she was ever comfortable singing that way. Loved your input tho

    • @tristanparedes
      @tristanparedes  6 років тому +177

      Anything could have damaged her voice, though. Smoking, for example... that's major. Non-singers can suffer vocal damage from smoking alone. For example, Whitney Houston's voice was destroyed by the end of her career probably, in part, due to her smoking.
      The only way to really know would be to have the private medical records between Britney and her doctor. My guess is that the partying, stress, touring, etc. all played very major roles in the decline of her voice. How she sang was probably one small contributing factor as well, but I wouldn't say it was the primary reason as plenty of singers have done what she did without significant issue.

    • @touchmyrainbow
      @touchmyrainbow 6 років тому +76

      Tristan Paredes Agreed, but I really believe that her way of singing wasn't appropriate for her, even in 1999 she could never sing any of her songs on pitch, that combined with the whole 2007 breakdown really messed her up and it's sad. Same for Whitney, although Whitney's level of singing was way too advanced and demanding, compared to most Britney songs that only use like half an octave. Love the reactions! React to Mariah Carey tho👀

    • @shaunmike
      @shaunmike 6 років тому +35

      Yep!!! I personally don't like Britney's music; I'm not into bubblegum. But that voice required her to drop her support. She basically had to re-learn to sing. She's such a sweet girl though; I hope she has more to offer when she's older like Cyndi.

      Don't forget about that one video from her Instagram around Christmas. It was her singing acapella but it looked like the video was sped up to make her voice sound higher pitched.
      Also there's this. Idk how altered this is but it's interesting.

      @valeriosiciliano4272 6 років тому +30

      Tristan Paredes i think that using her voice the way she does it's tiring, because i hear tension in her voice, it's like she is like holding back her voice, she suffocates it. I never really heard vocal damage, i just noticed she learnt to sing without letting go her voice too much, and it's more tiring and stressful than belting imo.

  • @SoPilates95
    @SoPilates95 6 років тому +310

    Yes i agree with you! If she continued to sing like this, she won't be the iconic Britney Spears we know right now. It won't make her as famous as she is right now. It's unique and make her succesful as it fit the bubblegum pop which most of people can easily enjoy.

    Imagine if Britney voice didnt re-shape and pushed that Baby Voice sound which is artist in 90s used it she will be a great vocalist and well recieve by Music Awards like having a lots of Grammy...From the start she want to be like SHAINA & ALANIS but since the label knew she can dance they pursue her to POP, but i believe she still have that VOCALS like she posted some clips singing in a high pitched voice and that Vegas performance. Britney need to be free and allow her to record what she wants.

    There's no 'real' voice or 'fake' voice when it comes to singers. Versatility is the ability to modify your voice to suit a particular style. I'm not gonna use the same voice for a rock gig that I use for jazz standards.

    • @watashi-tachisailorguardia228

      But the thing is this fake voice came because the way they trained her ruined her technique. She was basically taught to use nasal power for all of her support instead of her diaphragm. It was a very unhealthy way of singing and as you might know, it's hard for a singer with good technique to sing in bad technique once they've mastered the good technique. Britney got a 1 year training session where they taught her improper technique to sing in that voice.

      Nefertiti Montoya well, Shakira had a serious injury at her right vocal chord, in 2017, which forced her to postpone her tour. It means that everyone's desperately looking for that "weird" way of singing, to be commercially attractive. But it can be dangerous.

      Yes, John Mayer's poor technique and unhealthy lifestyle (too much alcohol) contributed to his granuloma, which required he stop talking for months. He had 2 botox injections in his vocal chords to stop the chords from losing and further injuring the granuloma. I love John mayer's musicianship and he is one of my favorite artists.you could always see strain in his neck, especially trying to hit falsetto notes. His voice has changed a bit and he limits his range now to protect it. This is all his admission and not my criticisms.

    Her voice has always been underrated to me. She’s capable of doing a lot vocally - I’m not talking vocal acrobatics or having a huge range, but her voice has many different aspects that make it appealing. Her entire first album really showcases what she was, any may still be capable of delivering vocally. Great lows, capable belting and a really beautiful falsetto. The one favor she should do herself is begin to sing live more often.

    This earned my sub. Damn this video is interesting as hell. I would've never thought Britney could sing this way. Not that she couldn't sing, or that she is a bad singer, just sing THIS way. Amazing voice.
    Have you thought of doing some reactions on male voices in rock? I'd say Matt Sanders (M Shadows) from Avenged Sevenfold.
    I personally think his gutural scream is pure crap and Idk if it's true but it's been said that he went away from that style due to throat issues or whatever (like he was hurting himself). I love the band and for better or worse, I like everything they've done as of today for different reasons.
    When it comes to the singing though, I'd say City of Evil and Self-titled albums are the best ones and when he showcases that his hard work with a vocal coach paid off as well as giving kind of a final form to his voice from before.

PERIODT!!!!!!!! all this judging wether a person can sing or not when the majority of "true" singers can't sell a record to save their life! gurl bye. Ppl will ALWAYS be bitter that a entertainer like herself sells more and is more successful than a vocalist! It's called having a "IT" factor.

    I know this video is done three years ago so my comments a little late but it gives us something to look back on she started out singing like this and when she got real famous she switched to more of a baby sounding voice which I think we can all agree everything that’s happened in Britney Spears‘s life has been because of her father he’s made her do a lot of things that she is now speaking out on saying she did not wanna do it that way she was forced so I think the voice goes right along with that when she was singing like this she seemed very excited happy it was like she knew she could sing and she had a diva voice not a popstar voice but a diva voice and you can tell by her clips she wanted to be a diva she wanted to be like a Diana Ross a Tina turner but those kind of singers have to work a lot harder and it’s not commercial success overnight the popstar route on the other hand you can get recognized a lot quicker and that’s just a fact of it that’s why you don’t see a lot of divas nowadays because recording agencies don’t wanna deal with the work they just wanna cash cow and that’s what her dad wanted a cash cow someone to just bring in the money as quick as they could bring it in so when people say she has a real voice and a fake Voice it’s because we can see through her over the years she showed us and she’s giving us clues that that life that we seen was not really her it was somebody else making her do all of those things she did not want to do and in return she’s literally said she hates singing now she doesn’t ever want to sing again because of all of that I feel like if she was to reinvent herself and come out singing like this she would get so much probably three it would be crazy because nobody thinks she could sing like this

    • @eatingcatshit
      @eatingcatshit 6 років тому +2

      'Bright' voices are much easier to hear over an instrumental in a mix. I work in studios, record singers, and write. It's often preferred as it's easier to go down when needed most of the time. Also it's not fake. that has no meaning. When she sings in that key, that's how she sounds and so happens a lot of people prefer it. I can take either. Actually hearing her sing lower is also exciting to see. Sometimes it's the song. It would be interesting to hear her sing baby one more time just a little lower, in another key for fun. Maybe 3 to 5 notes down, and it would need to be remixed. But the original is the original and wouldn't want to lose that. It's history. Except then people would attack it saying she had to put it lower. Also something people don't seem to notice is that she often descends down to lower notes in her songs and can easily be heard on CD or whatever media, but they tend to not notice. She has an almost 'growly' sound. Like in Toxic, one second she's fairly low, like "oh baby can't you see, I'm calling, a guy like you, should wear a warning, it's dangerous..". Then next then you know she's way up the scale singing higher notes, ".. can't come down.. my head's spinning all around" is then sung fairly high. Yet people again, don't notice these transitions. They just repeat what they see and sometimes I think they are not truly listening. People like to talk about it, and they get so picky, omg :D
